An unique Library in this District. Best reading room. Books for Students, Researchers, General readers, Children and Career achivers etc. All are welcome.

Its location is North side of Howrah Maidan, Howrah. It was established in 1952. It is the Chief Government Library in the district of Howrah. It is under the Library Department, Government of West Bengal. The Librarian is a Group A Gazetted Officer. A lot of varieties of books are available. The most important thing is reference and reading room section. During our students lives we would get diverse qualities of Magazines and periodicals on competitive general knowledge, current affairs, science, relating to economics, political affairs, international relations etc, news papers published from different cities. There was wonderful environment of reading rooms. The then Librarian would visit reading room and ask us, My son, any problem? May I help you? We are grateful to this Library. We owe gratitude to this Library.
