This was the first time I tried kashmiri food and I can say that I was a good experience for me. The place have a beautiful ambiance, wooden chairs Indian khatiya bed this was icing on the cake. The variety in menu for non veg options were great but veg options are less. I liked kewah there but pink salt tea was not for me I can say that. The taste of food is great and if you need something different you can definitely go there. They have great variety of bread also. The portion size is small I can say that but if you need something different you can try this place.

Very less crowd during these times, and that too properly spaced out.Located in DLF cybercity hub, this place is definitely a one time visit if you want to embrace the kashmiri cuisine. There is enough on the menu for both vegetarians and non vegetarians. The taste is simply awesome, being a kashmiri myself I can endorse that undoubtedly. The ambience is also very pleasant.I tried the non veg thali and rajma rice as well. The only reason I gave it a 3 star rating is due to the fact that the quantity is less for the price they are charging.

Perfect restaurant if you want to try Authentic Kashmiri Cuisine. Restaurant ambience is amazing and staff was courteous. We tried the Wazwan Thali which is good enough for two people. Goshtaba, Rista, Waz kukur, mutton seekh kebab and kabargah were so delicious. Also tried mutton Rogan Josh which was yum.Downside the location is pretty awful. DLF city court is a shady area to be in the evening so wouldnt suggest families going here for dinner.

With high aspiration I went to matamaal, at starting it was promising with ambience and service. But reality hit me hard, once I saw my food on the table😭. I understand its exclusive food with high price, but what about quantity, only two piece of chicken in a dish costing Rs.450/-. The flavour of kashimri food was intact but again it was either too powerful or two low. Not the best but if you havent tasted Kashmiri food, you may try it.

The place is good to have a one time experience of kashmiri cuisine....... The quantity and quality of good was good not great that you go wow having the first bite. Its bit on the expensive side, looking at the overall experience. Below is the vegetarian & waaz wan thali, which cost 800 & 1400 respectively. Now anyone can be the judge before spending that cash. The non veg thali food items were a bit salty for my liking, so if anyone has less salty food then they should probably inform the cook.

I have never tasted any Kashmiri cuisine earlier so I am not sure about the authenticity of taste served at Matamaal Restaurant but yes I am definitely in love with the taste and flavour of food served here. We had order 2 starters, mutton biryani and 2 gravy dishes with sheermal (a kind of bread). Overall it was a happy and must visit again experience. I have mentioned in detailed experience below:Mutton seekh kebab: I have never ever tasted such delectable seekh kebabs ever in my life. I am a lover of seekh kebabs and this one was much beyond my expectations. The flavours were so tempting that while writing this I just felt what mouth-watering experience means. My mouth is all watery (like literally).Kabargah: upon the waiter’s suggestion we order kabargah. Mutton ribs are pan fried, thus it has crispy yet juicy taste. It had flavour of milk and whole spices which was giving it amazing aroma. Personally, since it was fried, I didn’t get it’s fan but it was an ok dish.Next in our main course, we had ordered mutton biryani, goshtaba and roganjosh (mutton).Goshtaba had meatballs that literally had velvety texture. These meatballs in yogurt gravy tasted yummy. Thumbs up to this dish as well.Roganjosh: this was an aromatic gravy dish and the mutton was perfectly cooked. I ate it with my mutton biryani and it was an amazing hit.

Its wonderful how they kept all the different Kashmiri items like kitchen utensils, spices, decors, paintings, books and more and it gets better when you have the food, the authentic Kashmiri taste or atleast close to that. But the place needs some proper renovation thats why it only gets 4 stars.

Dum Aaloo –In Mata maal restorent Dam Aaloo is very delicious kashmiri dish made here really an authentic dish is named so because the baby potatoes are cooked under Dum or pressure. In this cooking method, the food is cooked under pressure in its juices. Boiled and peeled potatoes are poked all over with toothpick so that holes are visible. Once done deep fry till crisp and light. The gravy is made by adding dry ginger powder, aniseed powder, asafoetida and Kashmiri red chilli powder and water. Potatoes are added to gravy and cooked on low flame till done.

Tried their veg thaali. Food without onion garlic. Tasty sumptous and very filling. Perhaps I was not ready for this #thalichallenge. Good choice in terms of variety of dishes in a thali. All delicious and taste different. Yes lots of oil. Mustard Oil so all good. Thali offers rice and no roti/bread. Which is limiting since there are many good options in Kashmiri cuisine. So overall my first Kashmiri dining experience in Gurgaon and it is two thumbs up. Homely experience. Lots of space. Ideal for families and group outings. I didnt get to say hello to the owner but I could see her supervising. Lots of parking. 5 minutes from Sikanderpur metro station.Yes expensive. 1800 bucks for 2 veg thalis. But then good food is never cheap.Highly recommend this #wazawan experience in Gurgaon.Serve Islamist non veg. They need to provide safe reliable meat options.

Visited matamaal few days ago. It is a Kashmiri restaurant which serves Kashmiri traditional food and breads. Also the atmosphere in there was so peaceful and relaxing. They decorated the interior in a Kashmiri traditional way. from the tables to the lights and the background music it all together could make you feel like Kashmir. All the furniture was of wood and there was a sitting for 20-30 people. Beautiful decorations on the wall. They serve their own cooked Kashmiri breads and they have a large variety of breads.I started my meal with Kashmiri seek kabab Kanti served with Bagerkhani and Lavas Breads. The meat was so tender and I really enjoyed it also their breads were so soft and evenly cooked loved the taste of their breads. After our meal we had Kashmiri lassi made from homemade yogurt helps tone down the heat of spices. After a heavy Kashmiri meal, a glass of this subtle flavoured buttermilk is good for digestion as well.

Matamaal Means Nani home and this place give you feel of same. If you are Kashmiri food lover this is the place you must have to try. Kashmiri pandit food and kasmiri muslim food are two varity of kashmiri food one has come up without garlic and onion in food which is Kashmiri Pandit food and when you taste of it not find less then typical Kashmiri Muslim food. The Chef Nalni Create magic on every food dishes. Starter or main courses all has so many variety in veg or non veg. You equally like both no matter how hard core non veg eater you are but you love it both the preparation. Chef Nalni maintenance the original flavour and motherly home touch in food. Matamaal is place where you really get to know what is mouth-watering Kashmiri food. In starter mutton Kabhargha was option as for me quite crispy and tender in main while along with Walnut chutney. Main course has huge variety of dishes which easily make me confuse what to have first, so go for my all time favourite Yakhni ( its chiken in white gravy preparation of curd and different Indian magical spices ) and Gustaba ( meat ball of mutton(in gutabaeat meat ball made by beaten meat not grind one), having with Bkhalkhani and roti. after had this no more space for more food but how can kashmiri food end up without Kawah( tea - almond and kesar). Over all excellent experience with pocket friendly price. comparison to any wazwan Matamaal is much better.
