Great food, service could be better. Waited nearly 40 mins to have our order served on a weekday evening. Made me nervous to see that the waiters touched the same doors that the customers did, and then touched the food while serving outdoors. No one sanitized the door handles during the 2 hours we were there. All dishes (other than ther salad for the rotis) were delicious.
Moghul’s outdoor dining was an amazing experience! Valentine was a very kind host who went the extra mile to set up an outdoor table for us when the seating was full. He was very warm and thoughtful and made sure that our food arrived quickly, even on such a packed and busy night. He checked on how we were doing multiple times throughout the meal to ask if we needed anything. The food was excellent and the service was even better. We will surely be returning again.
Excellent food and service!!! The waiters Valentine D’Souza and Larson were excellent and very attentive. We ate outside and enjoyed the experience very much. We felt bad because it was chilly and the waiters were wearing short sleeves. That does not seem fair because it is cold outside. Maybe the waiters can wear a sweater with Mughal on it?
The outdoor ambience was amazing with excellent service by Valentine. We had great time there with great food. Tandoori roti was crisp and Veg. Jalfrezi was cooked well. Will surely visit again.
We visit Moghul frequently and have always had a great experience. While the main reason we love it is the food, it’s also the overall experience including the music and the service. Today we came with our new puppy and glad that they were very welcoming. Would add a special mention to Valentine who took outstanding care of us today.
Pros: Its nice that they have the outdoor area and our server, Valentine, was wonderful. Cons: I do think this restaurant is way overpriced for the portion. How is rice not included with the entrees? This was a first for me. My kids butter chicken dish came way too fast, kind of odd. Fish curry was so dry but to their credit they offered to send a new one. We just didnt want to bother with it. The food was bland even though we asked for medium. I dont plan on being back there.
Food tastes great, nothing out of the ordinary. The ambiance of dining outdoors was very nice. The food took too long to arrive but the service was good overall.
Excellent Indo-Chinese food and ambience - need to arrive early to sit outside.
Food was not tasty. It was so bland. Main dishes are not served with rice. Riata was a joke. They just dumped some Greek yogurt and few small pieces of onion. All the items are too expensive. Service and outdoor ambience were good.
This was our first Asian Indian Dinner experience and we were very impressed by the lovely atmosphere, food, and service. Our friend helped guide us through the menu and warned of different levels of spice which can be extremely hot. Our mixed grill had some burnt tips, but that is normal part of the dish. If you never have been, it is a great experience to try new flavors with pleasing spice combinations. Some dishes have meat that is red because they use food coloring; beware if you have allergies.
What a ambience for a Indian restaurant and the maintenance of indo western is something remarkable. We choose to have dine in outside as we had little drizzle of rain as well.Food was really tasty starter and main course. It’s a good place have some Instagram pictures. Thanks to Valentino and team who were really nice and calm. Appreciate it
Went for a friend’s birthday and was served by Valentine. He was super nice and very attentive. Ask for him by name if you want great service.
Always has amazing Indian food! We have been coming here for years and mogul has never failed to deliver delicious Indian food! The prices were a bit high but before COVID when they had a buffet it was really worth it. Would definitely recommend coming here!
One of the worst experiences. I have never tasted chicken 65 that bad. They charged $21 dollars for goat biriyani, hardly can be shared by 2, but one of the most ordinary ones. I ordered lime soda, did not even have a flavour of lime and have no sweetness at the beginning. Very disappointed with the food and service compare to the price they charge, wont recommend any to go there.
We had a wonderful lunch experience in their outdoor seating area. Food was great as usual. Would recommend the Brussel Sprout/Spinach chaat...something that was new for us and yummy. Valentine and his waiting crew did a fabulous job in taking care of us as well.
Excellent range of appetizers to opt...Decent range to choose from for vegetarians...Servers were cordial, knowledgeable..Be there in summer and on Tuesdays as Outdoor seating with Live Bollywood music arrangement is available...I would just say...dont miss this opportunity...At Moghul they make u feel like Moghul..
Very disappointed with the service and food quality. Staff had no courtesy to even check with customer if they liked the food or not, we paid over 110$ for 2 adults and a 9 year old kid. I feel the place is over priced for below quality food. Will never visit this place again:(
Went on Tuesday evening and waited for an hour to get our food they actually lost the order and when I asked for it everyone started running to the kitchen and kept apologizing. They weren’t that busy also careless service I had my grandparents who had to have meals on time. This is a trash restaurant with trash un clean waiters and service.
Bad service, mediocre food, and subpar ambience. This place used to be a top destination in central jersey for North Indian fare. However, it has now become just one of many “dining halls” as I call them on Oak Tree Road. Waiters are understaffed so they are constantly running between tables. Food is priced like the place is a top location, however the quality does not match. I didn’t receive several dishes that I ordered. Cocktails are also subpar. I was charged a 20% service fee on a table of two which added insult to injury. All in all there’s many other places on oak tree that will give you equal quality food/service for much cheaper. The place is hanging on by its reputation from the past.
Worst experience all over. Waited for an hour even after the table was booked. The appetizers and drinks came sporadically in an hour after we placed an order. The water was served only when you asked. Only three-four waiters to serve over 125-150 people, so the service was worst than the takeout places. The main course was just worst. Naans were good. The outdoor ambiance was cute. With such a terrible service and food, they just billed 20% tip as part of bill for table of four. I don’t think it was the issue of poor waiting service, as much as the greed to make more with the least amount spent on waiters. If you like to pay more and get overall bad experience, the place is for you!
The food was delicious, however their portions are really small. Also they dont offer complimentary nan as most places I have been to do (given the prices, they should have thrown in the nan). Our waiter was extremely helpful and provided exceptional service. The ambience is really good as well. Another annoyance was that they charged us for the ice cream scoop cake they brought us to celebrate an anniversary. So overall, good food but small portions and extremely pricey.
We had a great experience at Moghul. Ganesh, Jitesh, and Heldrin were very accommodating and provided great service. All dishes that we ordered were delicious. Thank you!
Rude manager spoiled the beginning of the dinner but good food (exceptional paneer chandni seekh and laccha paratha) made up for it.
Good service by our server - Valentino ; followed Covid protocol of wearing masks even when we were dining outside ; put us at ease dice we had young unvaccinated kids.
These guys are a joke. You cant order a to-go food if you are sitting outside because you sat at Ming side or the tables to eat indo-chinese.The manager says, you can order to-go but it will be an hour because you already are sitting outside. Are you kidding me? Whatever happened to hospitality!Four half springs rolls are 8 pieces- I wonder how!Can I pay my bills with half 20 bills to make it an account for $40?Here is a tip: you cant cater to your customers, walk out of your job! No one needs you arrogance.
Had the greatest experience. Everything was phenomenal. Dal thadka, malai kofta, raita & this unique sabzi called “Sham Severa” was INSANELY GOOD!! Never had anything like it. Tastes like ricotta balls but they were paneer and spinach based. Very good. Service was SO phenomenal thanks to 2 servers, one was named Valentine. He was super sweet and accommodating. Outdoor seating closes at 9:30, we showed up at 9:20 and they seated us outside out of courtesy. Valentine was super sweet, he made this a great experience!!
Covid Time - Aug 2020----Dining is outside. Enough space between the tables and waiters wear mask all the time.Last order was at 9:30 PM.About food, its definitely better than average however lacks slightly from being great.I ordered all vegetarian food, veg kofta was good, but Sham Savera dish was the highlight. It was really good, Naan and roti were ok too. However, aaloo paratha was not that good, it was more like aaloo naan.I felt it was bit expensive for the service/food.For the price range, it hardly stands out.
Use to be a great restaurant but the standard has gone down the tube. I will not be coming back.
Worst experience! Very late serving.... over an hour.... if you are coming here then better go for intermittent fasting.....the taste even is medium! it is simply not worth it!!!!!
Moghul’s are known for Mughlai food. Do not get deceived by the name of this restaurant like me. I had dinner at this restaurant last week and thought it would be Mughlai food. Instead, it turned out typical south Indian food mixed with creamy and buttery ingredients. Not recommended at all if you are looking for authentic mogul food instead, try TABAQ restaurant close to the same place(on Oak Tree).
Ordered through Uber eats. Very good food for the value paid.
Food served with same gravy with various name.ie We ordered shamsavera butter chicken ,Malai kofta ,Dum aloo and guess what all gravies are same.Service is poor -we got appetizer and main course exact same time.will never recommend this restaurant. Highlight food is over priced.:)
Few waiters are not covid compliant I.e., not wearing masks… ordered veg biryani which is okay taste with no salan served. Awful paneer tikka Masala which is just cooked in simple tomato puree. Prices are high … waste of money for such poor food quality….
Excellent food matched only by Valentine’s excellent service. If you eat here, I hope Valentine is your server.
Chicken 65 is good, lamb also thank you for valentine service good.
Good service (valentine and team) and food , good ambiance.!!
Got the chathanad vegetable curry and the vegetables were clearly from a frozen in bag vegetables with corn and limea beans. Thats what I feed my dogs and I certainly wouldnt pay 16.99 for it.
Good was good before. Lately it is getting like other restaurants. Not superior quality anymore
Not a good experience.Food was worst.Too expensive for the quality of the food provided. Long wait. Untidy and some dishes were not even clean.I dont recommend this place. You can find many nice indian resturants around with good food and decent price.
Place was beautiful and staff was also good. They serve us well as well but i think our expectations with food were high. May be due to large number of people out there. We could not find the food match to our expectation unfortunately.I wish the team do check on that and look into it to improve. So we will have the accense of moughal next time.
Food was average, pricey compared to other restaurants in the area, service was fine.BUT THEY ADDED 20% service Charge for party of two. That’s BS. I did not notice it on their menu, otherwise I woudnt have dined there. Never Again !!!
Waited around 45 mins for two items that sucks and service is worst on top of that they charge you 20% service fee which is ridiculous. Food was ok
This not good choice for vegetarians. It’s Washington of money. They use same cury in vegetarian. Also, taste is really bad. We order mughal paneer and maatar malai.
Very nice ambiance, not as nice food, not worth the ride.
Good food and good service but pricy
Kitchen and the storage outside is disgusting. This morning a cat walked out of where food is stored. The have food on the floor outside the kitchen door.
Server name valentine. Food great and seevice great.
The Moghul Restaurant at Edison is a best place to dine. The restaurant has large variety of north Indian and south Indian food. We ,two families went and enjoyed ,achari aloo,Tandoori Murgh and few snacks. The food is very delicious. The interior decoration is beautiful. The place has a good bar.The prices are little higher than other Indian cuisine of the area.
Most recent visit was TOTALLY DISAPPOINTING!We ordered Paneer aur Sabzi Tawaw Masala. All the vegetables were raw and uncooked. When we complained the cook said they use boiled veggies and was ready to replace the dish as we don’t liked it. But wasn’t ready to agree that it’s uncooked dish. Also in summer their Air conditioner was not working, hand dryer in bathroom not working. Now a days looks like they are more into money making business than providing excellent service to customers. Also the dishes comparatively costly than other restaurants in same area.
Very slow 🐌 service food quality no good garbage restaurants in this whole world 🌎
This my first dinner time try at this restaurant after hearing from friends and online . It started with high notes with good appetizers but with bad service and main dish and roti - naan, disappointment. So I suggest that come here if near by and hungry but don’t come with big hope and expectation. It’s ok ok restaurant. They use lot of colors and frozen and already prepared items in food.
Please dont go to this moghul restaurant garage food very slow service 😫
Delicious food, friendly and efficient service, and pleasant atmosphere. Every single dish was absolutely phenomenal, with us opting for full spicy level.Dishes were brought out quickly to match our pace with devouring everything on them. The tomato soup is to die for.💯
Really nice ambience. Really good service. And amazing amazing food.We ordered chicken 65 and dahi ballas as their appetizer and both were equally delicious. Then for main course we ordered murg malai makhani and murg karahi and goat biryani. Most I like was murg malai makhani. And their mango lassi and rasmalai are to die for.Their chilli cheese naan and roghani naan was truly delicious.
Worst restaurant. Very bad service. Our food csme after 50 min. And food wAs not at all satisfying
Still one of the best Indian restaurants in Edison. Hopefully the quality of food doesnt change like all the other restaurants in edison.
Excellent service and excellent food. Enjoy going there every time.
One of the best restaurants on Oak Tree Road. Good food and friendly staff. Definitely planning to visit again.
The food was prepared with passion. I’m from DC and a stickler for Indian food!
Horrible experience ty heat up leftover food from the Buffett and serve to us it was horrible we pay 175 dollar it was dispointing im never going back there again.
Always good and love that they remember my name. Great food.
You know it’s unfortunate but the fact is fact. This restaurant used to be a great place. But being a vegetarian person my dinner choice is very pre determined. So we expect to have good food that’s quality and taste. My yesterday’s visit basically gave me a reason to believe it’s about time I downgrade my past experience. The main entree was good but NANN the most important part of dinner was not even like warm and therefor it was a bad start. Also see the pics of Veg Biryani ..... Simply NOT. Going back for long time
Phone operator never answer any question properly and is always very rude.
I enjoyed this place. I liked being able to have both Indian and Asian foods. Service was a little slow and not so friendly, but not so bad that I wouldnt go back and try again.
Truly the best Indian restaurant. A true classic and one of the first top quality Indian restaurants in this country. Every dish is flavorful and cooked just right. You can be confident you are getting only the finest here. Excellent staff, fine hospitality
Food quality and taste was very bad. The amount of money we paid for both is not worth. Dont ever go here, they are playing with customers emotions under big name.
Best night ever! Thank you Ganesh for making it memorable!!!
No service and the service is not good at all.
It is a good place to sit and have food.
If you are foodie and picky, then this place is not for you
Excellent food. Large locations. Glad they dod a temperature check of guests.
The people here are amazing there customer service is good as an out of state person that comes regularly they are nice they only downfall about this restaurant is it’s a bit over price because of famous people who have walked into the restaurant. And when ever I place a order from my phone for to go the employees there would try to ask for a card even when you pay for cash because they assume I won’t show up because of my out of state phone number but over all the food is good the quantity is okay you get a lot less then other restaurants
The manager at Moghul (don’t want to name him) is an extremely rude person. I came with my wife for dinner and he asked us to come after 45 mins. When I went after 45 mins, he asked us to wait for another 1 hour. When I told him that I am here after 45 mins, he shouted at me saying I don’t want to argue with you. If you want to get me fired, you can do so.I don’t know how restaurants like this do business without showing any basic courtesy or respect to the guests.1 hour of my precious valentines day evening wasted!
Very bad food, there is no taste. Don’t waste your money
Veggie appetizers were okay. Vegetarian main course was below average.
The food has steadily gone down the drain. Very bland and tasteless food. Been going there for years but sad to say that this is not a place i would recommend anymore.
There are plenty of tasty veg options and the service is ok, but they are the first Indian restaurant I’ve seen that doesn’t serve rice with their curries- it was discouraging to have to pay extra for plain white rice. They were seating patrons in a socially distanced manner inside but not enforcing folks to keep their mask on when they moved around the inside and were not eating- again, in the time of COVID, they should be enforcing this! Also, Yelp falsely advertises outdoor seating- THERES NO OUTDOOR SEATING.
Extremely poor doesn’t even deserve a star. We ordered veg and nov veg and both were not good at all. Tasted wired. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. However service was okay.
Great authentic food. Friendly and professional staff. Great adherence to current guidelines! Clean, warm and welcoming!
Never personally went there .. but did ordered online .. food wasnt upto our expectations.. some order item might be good ..
Decent food and nice people
Was amazing. Owner was receptive to my catering order even though it was for a small group and last minute. He even threw in a few additions. My family loved the food and they will be recommending the restaurant in the future.
If you are a Desi then definitely this is NOT the place you want to eat. They make any thing but Indian food. We spend almost couple hundred dollars and ordered different dishes. But they use the same sauce (Curry) for Chicken, Paneer, Malai Kofta. Paneer was so old even chewing rubber seem less painless. And no THEY CANNOT make a Punjabi food at all.And please dont fall for these white people 5 star reviews. What do they know about real desi food. lol
Came back to after so long. Been trying all the new restaurants that have come up on Oak Tree. This one is still probably one of the best. I liked it better when they had Chinese options too but with it gone (at least weekday buffet), its still good enough to justify the price.
