The food was absolutely disgusting. I love Indian food and I have never tasted anything this bad in my life. How is this place in business and serving the public such horrible food. If there was a way to give Zero stars, I would definitely not give them any. 1 star is being VERY VERY NICE, they don’t deserve it. I am visiting from out of town and I was expecting some delicious food. And got the worst food EVER! It’s in the trash right now because I couldn’t stand the smell of it and it tasted terrible! I wouldn’t even feed anything so bad to my dog. When I walked in I only saw 2 people dining in and that was my cue to RUN BACK OUT THE DOOR, but no I stayed and wasted my money. I wish I could get my money back!! The credit card machine ran out of paper and the dude washing dishes came up front to fix the machine, how tacky! I want the World Wide Web to know about this place and PLEASE do not wast your time or money on this trash.

My co-workers and I loved this place because we didnt know what the foods were called, but we knew what we liked the taste of, so the weekday lunch buffet was a perfect chance to sample everything at a reasonable price. Unfortunately, when they re-opened the buffet they made it Saturday only. My co-workers and I are not in the area on Saturday. So, this is just another expensive, order off the menu Indian restaurant now. A sad decision that I hope they will reverse some day.

Me and my fiancé ate at Poona Indian restaurant and it was his first experience with Indian food. The service was absolutely amazing and the restaurant was so beautiful you felt like you stepped into someone’s home and they was so friendly and inviting. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone craving good authentic Indian food and a friendly atmosphere.

Very good food. They provide lunch buffet on weekend these days. The price is $12.95. The fish and lamb are very delicious. But one customer didnt wear mask and walked inside the restaurant. One customer didnt wear mask when catching food from buffer area. The waitress and the boss should remind that customer to wear mask to keep everyone safe. But they did nothing.

A family favorite. We love the weekend lunch buffets! This place is family owned, and they treat you like a part of the family here. With thoughtful touches like a tea station, sides and plenty of different types of fresh chutney to make the meal perfect, this is one of the best Indian spots in Atlanta. The food is not too greasy, with plenty of vegetarian options in an ambience that’s classic and comfortable.

Great food, great service and atmosphere. I always get the feeling that the staff sincerely wants you to have the best experience possible. Really great and warm people! The flavors are more subtle than most Indian restaurants so if you need a shotgun blast of spices in your mouth this isnt the place for you. But I like variety. I mean I love Indian food, but I dont always need to taste it 5 hours after Ive eaten.

Ordered meals for the family and expected to get the free large samosas based on the special listed on the website (spend over $34.99 - which we did). They were not added to our bag. Aloo Gobi was pretty oily. Also, recommend getting at least medium spice to get more flavor, we called and they recommended mild because even he thinks the food is too hot mild is kind of flavorless. The Eggplant bharta was good. Wish the food also came with naan rather than only rice.Probably wont return.

Very, very,VERY nice staff. Our Mexican server was excellent and super attentive and hospitable. A manager or perhaps the owner continually checked on us during our meal, so I would have to give them 5 starts if just scoring the the customer service. The two stars only reflects our opinion of the dishes we tried that are named below. Now, Ive been enjoying Indian food since my days in college 25 years ago. Not only did I have a few close Indian friends, but there were many small indian restaurants in the Philly University CIty area around U Penn serving the Indian faculty and students, as well as others in the know. After college I returned home to NYC where one can find many good (and bad) Indian restaurants with most of the questionable ones actually being Bangladeshi or Pakistani owned maskerading as authentic Indian cuisine. Thats what I suspect is going on here. Not sure if these owners are actually Indian or if theyre from a region of India where the cuisine is sharply different than what I am used to, but something was off about the flavor. We noticed that where we were seated in the smaller dining room to the left, everyone eating appeared to be non-Indian. However, in the main dining area, there was a special event starting and all of the women looked to be from somewhere close to India, but your eyes can lie to you. They were obviously muslim by their head coverings, so that tipped us off to something being off with our experiences at Indian restaurants. Im not Indian so its very possible Ive been conditioned to favor one regional type of Indian food thats not being offered at Poona, but we were not happy with the flavor of any of our dishes. My wife an I joked that perhaps they had two menus, one for those native to India and a watered down, Americanized version they were providing to us... or perhaps its not them. Its us.Regardless, this is my honest opinion of our meal. The Poori was thick instead of light and fluffy and was served dusted with what looked and tasted like salt and powdered cumin. The Chicken Tikka naan was a bit salty, too, so if we were to enjoy our meal, it wouldve been difficult tasting its true flavor with a salted tongue. I LOVE mutter paneer and have not only ordered it a hundred times in my life, but Ive also successfully made it myself more than once from a really good recipe. My home-cooked dish was much more flavorful than this one servered to us. We also had the Begun Bharta (eggplant, onions and peas), but unfortunatly, it too lacked the distinct spices, flavors, and tastes I recognize when the food is really good.I eat and enjoy spicy foods, but when I try a new place, Ill ask for a more tame or standard heat level the first time to baseline it. On more than one occasion, mild is anything but, and my kids cant enjoy the food. MIld seems to have a different level of heat, not just from culture to culture, but from restaurant to restaurant, so we went with mild here and that may also explain the blandness. They may have even added water to the dishes, because thats actually the best way to accuratley describe what our food tasted like.Really surprised at all the 5 star reviews here that helped us to decide to give Poona Indian Restaurant a try, but everyone has their own concept and opinion of what is good food, so to each their own.

Its a very warm place with Mr. Mikes presence, he is a very good host and kind of adds comfort specially when you are visiting with family. The service is quick the food taste is delicious. If you want to taste some traditional Bengali dishes this is the place to be. I tried thier lunch buffet along with my family and I feel its fairly priced to taste multiple India delicacies. I have had food in many Indian restaurants across US, I think whats different about this place is the service they offer and freshness of the food.

The strange thing about my order was that it was good, but not what I was expecting. We ordered chicken tikka masala, lamb korma, and some vegetarian dishes. The chicken tikka masala tasted good, but it really just tasted like a creamy lipton chicken soup instead of chicken tikka masala. Ordered biryani from this place because a friend recommended it saying it was known for its biryani. I am a biryani connoisseur who has cooked and eaten various types of biryani. I was happy thinking I would get a break from cooking biryani . UNFORTUNATELY what I was served is not biryani!! It was a concoction of three ingredients - rice, saffron and boiled goat meat, No Spice....No Salt!! For people who dont know what biryani is ...maybe fooled by it....but this is NOT Biryani .....it is an embarrassment for Indian cuisine and people who claim they know Indian cuisine by running a restaurant. When we called the restaurant to give feedback, the guy was gibberish and sounded drunk. We just hung up!!If you want to eat biryani google and cook at home. I am certain it will taste 10 times better than what is served here. Dont waste ur hard earned money.

Spices in all non-veg main courses was rock bottom making the chicken korma and mutton feel like it was made at home.3. Chicken biryani was good, pieces were cooked nicely.4. Fish pakora and tandoori chicken tasted good as chicken was cooked from inside as wellVeg dishesPaneer pieces were quite small and gravy was little sweet.Naan was soft, fresh and served hot.I believe buffet runs till 3PM at this place and we visited around 2PM, even then food was hot and fresh.

This was my first time coming here, I had to unfortunately leave the previous Indian restaurant that I used to enjoy because of the lack of good customer service. Tonight I enjoyed the Chana Masala, rice, naan and an appetizer! Everything was delicious! I havent been treated that good in a while and I appreciate the service and the delicious food! Only reason for 1 star instead of 5 is because at the end when it was time to pay I put my card on the table while waiting for the check and instead of him bringing me the check to tell me what the total was he took my card and swiped it for the total amount. He then brung back my card and the amount he charged did not match up with the menu prices but I let it go this time and still gave a nice tip. Honesty is important, you never know how God will bless you.
