This was .. probably one of the worst experience eating out so far.The food was cold. Everything tasted the same. No spices no nothing. Just bland tomato paste flavor in all the curries. The biryani rice felt stale and day old.And they were severely understaffed.
We went here for a friends birthday and the food was AMAZING!! The atmosphere is unlike any other restaurant I have ever been to.
Food was awesome! We’ve eaten in person twice and ordered take-out once. Always good service.
We drove almost two hours, Indian food is not plentiful in northern Wisconsin, and had even called in a reservation- so they had a contact number - to arrive and be told they were closed. Total fail.
Fantastic food in a calm setting. Our water had the best recommendation. A filling dinner for two plus an appetizer and drinks for $40.. incredible! Thanks, Alec!!
It is probably the only Indian place in Duluth. They have a decent menu. We ordered the samosa, veggie curry and naan. They gave rice as a side. Rice was not flavorful. Samosa was good but a bit oily. Naan was decent. Veggie curry was not bad but not great either.
Good food, extremely rude service. We frequently go to India palace twin cities - love the food and the service. This was the first time we came to India Palace in Duluth - we called ahead and they said we close at 8:00 PM, so we rushed to get there by 6:30 PM.There were to waitresses - one for this Asian lady and another a white lady, the asian lady was extremely rude and she should not be in the business of serving anyone. The white lady was very nice, courteous and served us well.(1) When we went to the restaurant - instead of escorting us to the table - she waived from far behind and pointed us to a table to sit down(2) When we sat down - she poured water on only 4 glasses and I have kept the water on the table and you can help yourself for other glasses ! -(3) Throughout the service she kept coming over to table and giving cues for us to get up and go(4) Website said 8:30 PM, but they said it closes at 8:00 PMOne of the worst services we have had. If you see my other reviews, you will notice that I am usually nice to small businesses, but this service made me feel pretty bad.On the food - the food was tasty, someone who manages this restaurant should monitor their employees and train them to serve. people do not come and pay premium prices for the food, but for the service and the food - being treated like this will leave a bad taste.
Best food in all of duluth making the best of the struggles during the pandemic! Our waitress was juggling the front phone, several tables, and take out orders all on her own and didnt miss a beat! The cook was tending to a technical issue up front and was also very kind :)
We love their food. Speed of service for takeout is exceptional.
Average Indian food.We ordered dal makhni, paneer and veg biryani for takeout. The curries were sweet and the biryani was more like Kashmiri pulao.Onion kulcha was hard and didnt even look or taste fresh.
Go here!I ordered:Paneer Tikka masalaChicken & mushroomsGarlic naanHouse platterSauces that came with the platter were tasty. Entrees had all the flavors on point. One note, please me patient. One girl was handling 8 tables. The room had about 30+ ppl. Even the cook was bringing food out.
The only buffet in town for Indian fare. I wish I lived closer, Id go more frequently! Fantastic flavorful food!
Unhappy front desk lady. For everything we requested she made faces and was rude. First we called at 715pm, she denied us dinning as the kitchen closes or dinning closes at 8pm. Their website says 830pm.Then we took take out, the biryani was horrible . Chicken tikka and tandoori, naan was good. After a long driven this restaurant would offer us nice service they failed miserably..
This is one of my favorite places to eat in Duluth! Wonderful service and cool atmosphere. For anyone who needs a recommendation: paneer tiki masala in medium 😋. There is a wide range of items for vegetarians, as well as a few vegan options.
They added a $10 tip on their own, thank God my credit card company emailed to ask me if this was true. Never going again
The food was amazing! best place for authentic and delicious Indian cuisine. visited with my friends and enjoyed our lunch. staff was good.
We consistently come back to this place! Is it the best Indian food I’ve ever had? Nope. (had better in bigger cities!) But that being said, I’m so glad that there’s decent Indian food available in Duluth! We’ve found some dishes we really like, including Saag paneer, shahi paneer, and chicken biryani. Good quality & usually a short wait for pickup!
Good price and good food. The lunch buffet was an even split between vegetarian and meat dishes. I try to eat at Indian buffets as much as possible in my travels, this was one of the better ones.Be advised that the street it is on is under construction, but there is plenty of parking within a block. I was told the construction will continue for 14 months.
Nice Indian food, always heard bad reviews about food here but it was nice. Maybe it was freshly prepared today (had heard they usually dont serve fresh). Ordered house platter which had a good samosa and awesome chattni, not so great pakoras though. And chicken Tikka masala which came with some complimentary plain rice. The curry wasnt too good, quite unnaturally orangish and not a taste of Tikka at all. Garlic naans seemed good.
One of the few places we found open past 7PM, India Palace did not disappoint. The two of us had food to spare with two appetizer and a main dish. We agree with the person that liked the Garlic Naan. It is well seasoned and fluffy. The Vegetable Pakora was like a fritter and crispy, and the Vegetable Samosas (2) were pleasingly (not painfully) spicy. The Lamb Jalfrezi was memorable and served with a beautiful bowl of fragrant basmati. We ordered mild. They had nice Indian beer and some domestics (no US IPAs though). The service was gracious and quick. It is in the thick of the downtown area, but on Saturday night that meant plenty of free parking.Great dinner and experience. Lots of good things on the menu (including beef) at reasonable prices. All the meats are halal (Muslim equivalent to kosher).
The food was delicious and very fast! We will be back very soon!
Good Indian restaurant around Downtown Duluth, also was the only restaurant that closes late for dinner. Their kitchen close 30min before the closing time. Ordered the house platter for appetizer which was great and tasty. For entree, ordered Chicken Kashmiri along with garlic naan which were delicious and filling. Decent price for the amount of food they served. Overall, good Indian restaurant to grab some dinner.
First time here. Good service and our food came out quickly. It was hot and delicious.
Lunch buffet is amazing! Something for everyone; foodies, kids, Indian expats, vegetarians. Incredible variety including breads, vegetarian entrees, meat dishes, chutneys, desserts, salad all included. Incredible introduction to Indian cuisine for your friends who havent tried much. Staff are friendly and helpful. Great price for so much variety. All you can eat. Take out available. Right downtown and connected to skywalk.
I had the chicken saag and it was superb. So happy I gave this place a try
Always stop here when Im in town for great food.
Excellent food and great service! I will definitely be returning.
The owner is the sweetest guy and we always feel so welcomed. The food is good especially in Duluth where it can be tricky to find good food that isn’t pub style. Would recommend if you are looking to try something new!
It is rare to find a good Indian restaurant like this. Ive only been here a few times while traveling through the area but it has been great.
My favorite restaurant in the twin ports! ALWAYS good and fresh! The Chana Masala is a great first dish for anyone new to Indian food. Huge selection that accommodates to many different diets. The staff has always been super friendly. Prices are very reasonable for the portions and authenticity of the food!! My favorite place.
I love India Palace. Delicious comfort food! Even when delivered to Hermantown, it comes hot and I’ve never had a missing or incorrect item!
Chicken korma sooo good, mint chutney soon good if you like cilantro!
It was yummy, my husband asked for lamb and I ate chicken kashmiri.
The Tikka masala was okay; a little one-sided and not the freshest Ive ever tasted but it made it easier to swallow the dry basmati rice, so I cant fault it too much. It was a strange orange color that reminded me of cheetos. The garlic naan was obviously more than a day old; bland, stale, and lukewarm. I would really appreciate being served fresh food when I spend over $30 on dinner.
Worst ever Indian restaurant.Rude staff, they kept us waiting more than an hour for the curry ( paneer tikka curry) after serving naans on our table. After waiting for 30 mins, On asking how much more time it going to take, they responded rudely that they have no idea as Chef is too busy now.Meanwhile the restaurant manager came and said, they will not chart for curry. Finally after 1 hr of waiting, all 4 naans were cold, somehow we ate food as we are very hungry after a long drive. when Bill came it was full charge including curry .... pathetic service.
The place offers an awesome variety of fresh food. I enjoyed dining here. Staff members are always nice, prices are reasonable and the place is always kept clean.
Just visited and the food was GREAT, the waitress was nice and responded well to my kids making messes (on accident). The staff was friendly and I do not regret coming despite what other reviews might add.I got the Meatball Makhani Curry mild and it was perfect for my son who doesnt like trying new foods! When I ordered my food the waitress even offered up multiple spice levels and explained the levels out of 10. I will definitely be coming back next year! Thanks for everything!
Great food, take out from there at least once a week.
Nice place for desi food in Duluth.Spicy Chicken Biryani was good. Butter Chicken was great. Naan and kheer are just average.
We( I am my wife) went to Duluth for a fall weekend. We never had high hopes from the food and were expecting it to be just average. Let me tell you we are not picky about the food and try to accommodate as much as we can. Following were the findings:1) I tried 4 different curries in the buffet with the hope that at least one could be reasonable but was disappointed. Chana masala was too sweet, korma was full of carrots, and aloo-matar was just ok. The rice was cold and I doubt it was even basmati as they claimed.3) The aloo tikki had less aloo and more flour in it. The nan was fine.2) In deserts, the custard had not a single fruit in it and it seemed sour. The rice kheer was ok.We just ate to fill our tummies and the food troubled us even after 2 hours. It was surely a waste of $27 bucks. I wish I could donate that money to homeless.
Excellent! Ordered the Vegetable Curry (asked for spicy) and the Aloo Tikki. LOVED BOTH!!!! Cant wait to order again!
The food and service are amazing.
A good option while in Duluth. However for someone from this region of the world and who eats at restaurants likes this the food was barely par. Lack of proper spices and overcooked tandury chicken were the short falls for us.
I feel like there is one thing that most people who havent been here need to know. Indian Food does NOT have to melt your face off with heat. You can choose how hot you want a dish and go from there. If you havent tried it maybe branch out a little with your horizons and give it a shot. Itll be a new experience and they offer a lunch buffet so you can try a little of everything. Check them out.
Never ever go there. Unprofessional attitude. It did not even seem they were willing to welcome guest. The restaurant was open till 9, we reached there at 8 and we were told there is no dine in even when we could see another group eating. And then they told for takeout it is minimum 45 mins!!!! 45 mins when there is no one in restaurant and probably will be preparing.most of the foods from same gravy?? Pathetic experience and will never go again. Would also not recommend anyone to go either
Good Indian buffet. Not too spicy but brightly flavored with hot sauce and chutney available. Pleasant service staff. Free parking on this block of Superior Street. Very nice.
Some of the best food youll find in Duluth. Excellent quality for the price. I recommend the garlic naan and any dish with scallops!
We ordered biryani and they gave us boiled chicken curry rice. Dont fool. Customers. I beg everyone one not to visit this place.
This is a wonderful place! The food is always flavorful and never disappoints! I am always impressed by the service too. The service always aims to treat its customers with respect and dignity.
Great experience! Awesome service, awesome food, all for a good price. The restaurant is a quaint place with beautiful brick and a good atmosphere. Will definitely be returning! Especially since we found out they have a buffet line and deals for students. High quality establishment!
Maybe they ran out of salt idk
I work downtown and LOVE to get a to go box when they have their lunch buffet! I’ve tried it all but my favorite is the fried eggplant when they have it. Some dishes rotate but it’s mostly the same stuff every day at the buffet. Highly recommend!
Food was fresh and service was wonderful. Spiced well but not overwhelming
Great place, food is fantastic, lunch buffet is fast and very reasonable and tasty! Service is always good. Have yet to have a bad experience here. Would recommend it to anyone seeking an Indian fix. Perfect 5/7
Average food. Samosas were undercooked. Vegetable biryani didnt have the right balance of the spices. Have had way better Indian food than this. Not worth the money.
Not terrible food because we have never tasted. The restaurant was closing at 9 pm, and we were there at 8 pm, we got such a shocking response from the receptionist usually saying food takes 45 minutes to cook and we were kicked out at eight just because wont accept because food takes 45 minutes to prepare. Terrible, please call before you visit.
Amazing food. Good service. Only 1 bad experience ever and that was because our waitress wasn’t doing a good job. But overall seriously recommend. I had The spicy Lamb Josh and WOW literally get that every single time. Going there tonight for Valentines day
Order good
An all time favorite of mine. I’ve been frequenting for nearly 10 years, from going to their lunch buffet and not knowing anything about curries to now ordering off the menu and having definite favorites. I recommend the aloo tikki and chicken curry (and obv naan).
Better than other india palace i have visited.
Ordered take out and it was absolutely fantastic. Worth navigating the construction zone for it!
Among the better Indian Buffets Ive eaten at. Small, but delicious variety of authentic dishes. Has been busy most of the times Ive stopped. Food is kept fresh. Staff is friendly. Price is very reasonable.
Honestly, i can’t even handle spicy, and my friends ordered as hot as possible and still i could eat it. Customer service? rude and disrespectful. THE FOOD, not even close to what Indian should taste like. you can tell they don’t have a indian chef. My peas were frozen, the biryani was mushy and sweet, meat was over cooked, and the garlic naan had no salt.
First Indian I ever had. Will always hold a wonderful place in my heart. Buffet is same thing every day and can get old. Go for dinner and order from menu
My brother and I were attempting to get my Grandmother some comfort food this evening. He tried calling to only be put straight to voicemail. I went down there physically to find no one at the counter and left after 10 minutes. My family loves this food, but I cannot and will not return.
Im a resident of Duluth and have been to the India Palace a few times over the past 6 years. Today I wanted to refresh my memory on the lunch buffet and what it has to offer. The dining area is clean and well decorated. Service is good and the staff are friendly. The lunch buffet has a nice selection of vegetarian and meat dishes with a selection of sides like hot sauce and mango pudding for dessert. You can go up and help yourself to as many plates as you need. The food is good but I do agree with other reviews that it lacks depth in terms of flavor. The available sides like hot sauce help in this department. The buffet costs just under $12 per person and I would say that it is worth it. I would recommend it to people because it is good food (lots of vegetables and minimal salt) with friendly service.Cheers
$11 for a warm and spicy buffet is one of the best options downtown for lunch. It would be nice to see some additional variety from the menu on the buffet, but food is delicious and the restaurant is always clean. If you live in Duluth and havent tried India Palace, youre missing out on a great option.
Very bad customer service. Will never go back again. The server, who was manager himself had very bad attitude problem. Does not know how to behave with customer. He should know that one who is working in any kind of field related to customer service, should always put their bad attitude and behave in their pocket. We are not there to eat for free, we PAY for our food.Plus food is not tasty.I DONOT recommend this place 👎👎
Worst customer service ever. Manager was serving us and he has attitude problem. He was very arrogant and disrespectful. I went with group of my friends to have some good time but the way we were treated ruined our whole day. We’ll never go back to this place again.
This was by far the worst indian food ever. I am pretty sure the lamb shahi korma was stale and bad. It tasted terrible and me and my friends all got food poisoning. Just awful. Might be one of the worst experiences ever in a restaurant. Just horrible. Its been two days and all of us cannot eat anything.
It wasn’t worth it. Please use real tomatoes rather than can tomatoes. Naan was like frozen paratha. I couldn’t eat it. Chicken and rice was stale. If you want to progress this business then please improve the cooking style and serve fresh food.
I really enjoy coming here for dinner. The food is wonderful and they have a wide variety of Indian dishes to choose from. The staff is nice and checks on you often. Ive never had a bad meal here. I highly recommend it!
Went for the lunch buffet. It was good! Prompt service. They had like 4 different Currys and a few other things to choose from.
I love this place. Weve never had a bad, or even mediocre experience. If you are on the fence about whether you would like Indian food, this place has a lunch buffet Monday-Friday. So you can try many different types of Indian dishes. Woul highly recommend you try this place out!
Had the Lamb. It was the best i’ve Ever had. Amazing experience. Very helpful and kind staff. Thank you
Great service, friendly staff. Food was amazing! Perfect portions. I ordered the Chicken Curry it had huge pieces of chicken seasoned perfectly. My husband had his favorite Lamb Vindaloo. We highly recommend this small locally owned and operated business for a quick lunch break or a night out.
Being an Indian I did not find the food here tasty as we prefer the food to be spicier. This restaurant is definitely for the Americans. You should go here if you would like to taste the Indian cuisine. Most of the available dishes are North Indian dishes. They added raisins in my Chicken Biryani which put me off!
Great dining experience! Great buffet! Great music! Authentic taste! And wonderful service!Just didnt like being treated like im a thief? I swear I aint going to steal a beer out of your cooler! Just wanted to read the label...
Horrible food. NOT AT ALL AUTHENTIC FOOD! A simple side dish of dal makhani was so bad and not at all freshly made.
Certainly possible that the dinner menu is better, but this is without question the worst Indian lunch buffet Ive been to. I hate to say it, but there are Trader Joes frozen dinners that eclipse the quality of food served at the buffet. Lack of competition keeps this place alive.
Worst biryani ever had in my entire life i hope they can rename it with a different name.
Great food. Excellent service. Fast. Clean. Only suggestion is that the to-go containers include something with a sealable lid to help prevent spillage of the wonderful sauces.
The food is delicious. I would have given it 5 stars but I had to wait a good 10 minutes just to be seated and took forever to get my order. customer service sucks 🙄
The bathroom needs an update, but the staff and the food are exemplary. Love the atmosphere!
Great food, had the buffet and it was reasonably priced. Will hopefully stop again
It was ok ok food. ThEy served rayta, that was not fresh, smells so bad. But that is the only Indian restaurant there.
Love the food here. The veggie samosas taste so good. Service is fast. They serve beer and wine.
Does offer a decent variety of Indian dishes but not authentic.
THE BEST INDIAN FOOD IN THE WORLD! Ive had Indian food in CA, AZ, Paris France and Norway- so let down by all the other Indian restaurants. And this place is still the best Indian food! Amazing raita, paneer, and bread! This will be my first stop when I get back to MN! Keep in mind this is the Panjabi cooking! Not south southn(super duper spicy) so it is nice and mild❤️
I wanted to give 1.5. This is my 4th visit to this restaurant. All 4 times were equally bad with no compromise. Even a simple raita tasted bad. And this time it was a limited buffet with limited items. Even those items werent worth that money we spent. The cherry on top was a dead cockroach right beside our table.People please dont get fooled by the name of the restaurant and go with high expectations.
