Only Bangladeshis are proud to protect their mother tongue with blood. So the compassion of this soil and people towards the mother tongue is a little different. At the center of Amar Ekushey Book Fair, people walk on the premises of Bangla Academy at least once a year. But very few visitors know that there is a Language Movement Museum on the second floor of the Burdwan House of Bangla Academy. Honble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Language Movement Museum on February 1, 2010. There is no language movement museum in any other country in the world. This is why this museum is unique. But the chances of writers or visitors seeing the language movement museum are slim. Because, there is no signboard to be seen outside the museum. In fact, the museum is open to visitors all year round. The museum houses historical photographs of the language movement, newspapers, memorabilia, caricatures, letters, pamphlets, manuscripts, book covers and memorabilia of the language martyrs. Notable landmarks include the cover of a pamphlet entitled Pakistans State Language Bengali or Urdu, photographs of various processions of students demanding to make Bengali one of the state languages, police lined up to obstruct the advancing procession, student leader Shawkat Rahman injured by police batons during the strike. Pictures of being taken to hospital by rickshaw, pictures of Muhammad Ali Jinnah speaking at a rally at Racecourse Maidan in Dhaka, press release on state language movement of Dhaka University Student Parliament, important news published in newspapers , Various memorabilia of the language martyrs, photographs of the first Shaheed Minar and Prabhatferi. These photographs hung on the walls of the museum, which has only four rooms, remind the audience of the turbulent times of the language movement. All the rooms here are wrapped in red carpet. Through which it can be said that the managers have symbolized the revolution. And introduced me to the days of struggle. The debate over the state language started before partition. And it is easily known as soon as you enter the museum. Because, here is the history of the conflict of Bengali Muslims with Bengali language written by Rabindranath in 1354 BS. In this article, Rabindranath clearly states, If Bengali is cornered and Urdu is imposed, it will be like cutting off the tongues of Bengalis. Surprisingly, his fears came true. The reality of the mother tongue movement can be understood only by looking at the photographs of the museum, the preserved part of Rabindranaths essay and the paper cutting of the daily Azad. Once you look at these photographs, you will know more. After partition, Dhirendranath Dutt raised a proposal in the Constituent Assembly in favor of the Bengali state language. But the Pakistani ruling class avoided it with self-contradictory statements. On the contrary, Nazimuddin repeated Jinnahs statement even though he became a Bengali on January 26, 1952. In this way, on the afternoon of January 30, 1952, the All-Party State Language Struggle Council was formed at the Bar Library Hall. A photograph of that library hall, a copy of the memorandum of the Rashtrabhasha Sangram Parishad is also carefully preserved in this museum. Although these photographs are black and white, they are enough to preserve history.Due to lack of space, many photographs could not be hung in the museum. However, the covers of memoirs, evidence-based books and anthologies on the language movement have also been preserved. However, it is more logical to collect books than to save the cover. Even then, the news published in the Bangla Academy Language Movement Museum from 1940 to 1948, 1952, 1954, 1956 and 1956, including the incident, the handwritten copy of Mahbubul Alam Chowdhurys poem I have come to demand the death penalty without crying, Shaheed Minar on February 26, 1952. Poet Alauddin Al Azads handwritten poem Smriti Stambha and the first song written about the language movement have been featured in the protest.
