Even though it is one of the most famous and academically one of the best universities in Bangladesh, JnU is the only non-residential University in this country Jagannath University is in the southern part of Dhaka city near the River Buriganga and a new super modern campus of approximately 200 acres is being built at Keraniganj.Jagannath University as a govt. financed full pledged public university of Bangladesh is situated in the southern part of the city of Dhaka near the Buriganga. This prestigious educational establishment has a history of about 156 years which started in 1858 when Dhaka Brahma School was founded in 1858 by Dinanath Sen, Prabhaticharan Roy, Anathbandhu Mallik and Brajasundar Kaitra. The name Jagannath school was given by Kishorilal Chowdhury, the Zamindar of Baliadi who took over the school in 1872 and renamed it after his fathers name. In 1884, it was raised to a second grade college. Law was one of the first courses introduced in the college. A common management committee administered the school and college until 1887, when the school section was separated to form an independent school named Kishore Jubilee School. It is now known as K L Jubilee School. The administration of the college was transferred to a board of trustees in 1907. In the following year, it became a first grade college.The college started with only 48 students and in five years, the roll raised to 396. In 1910, Raja Manmath Roy Chowdhury, the zamindar of Santosh, tangail affiliated the Pramath-Manmath College of Tangail with Jagannath College.It was known as the best equipped private college in Dhaka as early as 1910. With the establishment of Dhaka University in 1921 the college had to stop admission in Degree courses and was renamed Jagannath Intermediate College. This status was changed after 28 years in 1949, when it reopened Degree classes. The college was taken over by the government in 1968.

This university is good but outside of its, its not good. There is some problem. Such as- this university have not any students hall or dormitory. As well as it is situated in crowded areas. But u will be happy to hear it that, very soon they will move another place which will not be crowded and it will be their own autonomous property.

The only public University inside Dhaka city corporation area after the Dhaka University. The Jagannath University or JnU was situated on the banks of Buriganga river. The distance between JnU & DU is less than 3 km. This is an ancient educational institution which started as a school. Gradually it became an public university in 2005. Currently it has 6 faculty and 33 departments containing more than 20000 running students. There are satisfactory number of transport facility provided by JnU. There is a central canteen along with 2 small canteen, two big library, a central mosque, one botanical garden, one shaheed minar inside the campus. There is a hall for the female students is about to open within a few days.

Well, I did my Master’s, MA in ELT, from here. Department of English was cool. Specially, Dr. Md. Zafor Sir, Chairman, is a great man. Previously, it was Jagannath College: one of the oldest college of Bangladesh. Later on it was converted to a university. The campus is not much beautiful in compared to the other universities, but it has a charm. Nowadays, Students of Jagannath University are doing great in BCS and others government sector. JnU is a prestigious university of Bangladesh. Its campus is very tiny but students are very meritorious. Many students are giving service to the people of the country as government employee. Its my beloved university. I have completed my BSc in CSE( Session 2013-2014) from this renowned university and currently I am doing my MSc. in CSE ( Session 2017-2018). Its my pleasure ro be a part of JnU, Dhaka, Bangladesh. I feel proud to be here. There are different type of students and teachers having vversatility characters. Some of my close friends are Rafel, Suman, Mita, Prity, Rajib, Matin and so on. Rafel was my group partner of all projects in BSc level. Any kind of financial help Suman, Mita and Jisan were there for me. And in study matters Nazim, Rafel, Suman, Mita, Annesha, Ananda, Sohag, Arnob, Jisan, Prity, Riad, Matin were very helpful.
