Recommended: For those who would like to try something new. I am an eggitarian, had limited options to try something new compared to ones who are non vegetarian but yeah i loved the place. Reason: food tasted really good, the aroma, taste, texture of food was good. Presentation also nice. Beautifully decorated. The best thing according to me was the service, how the lady at the reception attended us. Although there were not much people at that time when we went but she was so friendly and nice to talk to,i really had a good experience.
It was very awesome experience with Bong twist, having lunch with the Nostalgia of Kolkata. Very friendly behaviour of the owner and the beautiful platter of fish thali and Aloo Posto give me the actual test of Bengal Gharana... But I would like to suggest to increase the quantity of rice in Thali.❤️
The Bong Twist is located near Ballupur chowk (they changed their location from Sahashradhara side to Ballupur)The food is excellent and if youre in Dehradun Willing to EAT BENGALI FOOD , this is the place where you should come. You can also enjoy the food in rooftop.Ambience 5/5Food 5/5Service 5/5Its a bit pricey but after eating you will be satisfied .
My favorite place for food and ambience whenever I visit Dehradun. Superb food with original aroma.
One of the most authentic place for true Bengali food. The chicken biryani is to die for literally...the best in dehradun for sure.try anything loochi, baigun bhaja, prawns, fish thali or desert everything has that authentic taste.must visit once and meet the most humble owners.
The food was absolutely wonderful and fresh. From preparation to presentation, everything was perfect and it was a great value for the price. The menu is very interesting with an amazing variety of Bengali dishes. The ambience is good too and the owner as well as the staff is very accomodating. A wonderful experience overall. Highly recommended. 👍👍
Awesome taste!!! tried bengali for first time mocha chop I loved it ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Excellent place with a genuine Bengali feel around the restaurant... Lovely food
I tried bengali food for the first time and my god, it was a wonderful experience. The owner herself came and greeted us and taught us some really interesting things about bengali food and the correct way to eat it. We started with the regular thali accompanied by fish cutlets. Then we tried prawns and crab. Ive tried prawns before but these were really tasty. The crab was really tasty and the curry was mouth watering. I would suggest everyone to pay a visit once and try this quisine. 5 stars from my side.
I will not base my review on Covid time visit . I have visited the place before and everytime, the food has been good.Recently, I visited it when restaurants were allowed to open with limited capacity and the food such as the fish fry , I felt, was not fresh .Also being a bengali, U expected the Basanti Pulao to be made from gobindobhog rice which wasnt the case and was just an artificially fragrant saffron rice. The Chicken Dak bungalow and Mutton Kisha is really something one should try with hot hot luchi ..
Ambiance is too good. Food quality is good
An amazing experience. I am from Kolkata but married here in Dehradun. For so long I had been yearning for Bengali food in Doon and finally I found a place where I could relish misti dhoi , so many types of fishes and fascinating thalis of Bengali food. Thankyou Bong Twist for bringing me closer to my CITY OF JOY , here in Doon. For all those reading this review , try their Jamai Shasthi Thali.
Genuine and tasty Bengali veg and non veg food. Reasonable price. Good location. Humble and friendly staff. Overall very satisfying experience of Bengali food. Fish was fresh and tasty.
Very nice ambience with tasty food😊and staff behaviour is also too good
Overall hospitable ambience but the food wasnt satisfying. Went on the occasion of dusshera, buffet arrangement was there. Fish wasnt fresh at all, moreover the biriyani was stale. Rest the veg items are good. The owners were very humble. But the service was too slow. Decor is so so. Overall a below average experience.
Excellent for chatting with friends over a cup of black tea
Average Non-veg food. Veg is worse
We were there at Ballupur outlet today and had a long chat with the owner. Non veg thalis and fish cutlets were amazing!! Authentic Bengali food and served with sincerity. Well worth the visit and we wish them the very best for their initiative!!
Amidst the noise and hubhub, this place is a true delight for food lovers. From savoury to sweet all your cravings are to be satisfied.. the self made kashundi is there to tickle you with a burst of flavours and the kosha mangsho a true delight... Do pay a visit and feel the rich cuisine coming live..
Visited with younger brother. Adjacent to Ballupur flyover.Parking can be issue for most. But owner will settle that not to worry. Food is nice. Have open rooftop sitting area too. Can try sometime for a change. They basically serve bengali food. So only visit when you want bengali delicacy. Price wise not too cheap not too high (update menu) . I mean when Food is good so it can be balanced. I enjoyed food. Run by humble & friendly duo son & mother (didnt get chance to meet her). Owner has promised to get beer licence soon. Haha. Then can have both food & liquor. Visit & atlst taste for once. I wish them all the best. Will visit again to taste new dish.
Amazing atmosphere ,tasty delicious 😋 food,And we had a wonderful experience .I love to visit again, thank u the bong twist
Really good food and ambience.Highly recommend the Mutton Dak Bungalow with Luchi.
Food was good but services are a little slow.
We had a very good experience. The host ans hostess extremely friendly and welcoming. Food was good.
Food is very delicious
Awesome bengali food
6 piece chicken cost 300Rs.
Amazing authentic Bengali food with very affable hosts. A must visit place for everyone looking for Bengali food in a homely atmosphere and for anyone wanting to try out a new cuisine. The Hilsa fish and crab curry are must tries. The address of the restaurant has changed though. They’ve moved to Victory Point Tower, Level 3, Ballupur Chowk, Ballupur Flyover, Chakrata Road, Ballupur, Dehradun.
Good food
Awsm.place
Good, outlet for bengali authentic food
Nice interior— rooftop is nice
Pleasant place to visit for Bengali cuisine lovers!
Feels like a home not a silly restaurant.Staffs are very friendly. The food quality is also very good and also they maintain hygiene. If u are pretty convenient to spend a little bit of extra money for better food quality better atmosphere and if u r a foodie than this is the right place for u😊
The place is unique for the connoisseurs but must plan in advance to get the best of the cooks. The cooking is lovingly supervised by the family that runs the business. The place can hold bout 25 and I think this is the right number for best servicing. Also keep an hours time to enjoy.
Incredibly delicious! A must must must visit!!!!
The resturant is closed permanently (I guess). So please do not go there.
Price is too high
I love this place, i have been there 3 times, whenever i visited Dehradun I definitely go there. The food is like homemade food. I loved it.. i preferred this to all those people who want best Bangali cuisine. This one is the most favourite place of my Boyfriend, Thanks to him because of him i experienced this amazing food. And, that hotel owner and their staff they all are so friendly..I definitely give 5 star to it.
Love it! Specially the fish. Visit there for the first time and it impressed me with its Bengali taste... Everyone should visit there if you really want to try the pure taste of Bong.
Very nice bangali food is available and the restaurant people are good too
Superb experience with great ambiance and authentic Bengali cuisine.. owner has been great host throughout.. looking forward to more such phataphati khawadawaa
I am only giving it a 4 star because of the quality of the food. To visit the place its quite expensive (if you dont have your own vehicle). The price of each dishes are really high. But if you are a bengali and you want to have a bengali kinda feeling inspite of huge prices then trust me, you will like it here. The staffs are bengali and the taste of the foods are so bengali type. Yummy😉
Food is very delicious 😋
Good taste and variety of Bengali delicacies. Slightly on the expensive side. The set up is nice evoking the Bengali culture.
No Idea, we went with lot of hope but the place was closed.
Very bad food
The decoration of the restaurant is amazing. Food quality is ok. But owner is over friendly.
You can taste really good Bengali food here in Dehradun in pocket friendly price. The restaurant gives you a home like feeling with soft Bengali music in the background.
Only place in Dehradun to experience authentic Bengali Cuisine. They often serve exotic items which are not mentioned in the list, dont forget to ask the staff. Owners are very friendly and welcoming people.
A beautiful laid out place to enjoy the real bong twist, feels like completely home made authentic Bengali cuisine. Should definitely try it out.
Very tasty and hygienic food
Good and proper place to taste the authentic bengali food.. I must say that hospitality is very good, and the price is also reasonable.. They always serves fresh and hygienic food..
It was just awesome. I had Mutton Biryani and it was simply awesome. The quality of food is very good and prices are also genuine
Authentic Bengal cuisine, served with personal care and attention by owners.
Awesome place. The bengali family who runs the restaurant made me feel like home. Everyone of them me and asked me about the food.
Absolutely junk... Although they do make the food themselves (the owners)..but its quite a sour pinch on the pocket for people of mediocre families...Good for those who spent their entire lives out of Kolkata and dont have in their wildest dreams that what an actual Bengali dish tastes like..only food worth eating is the Fish fry that too Rs. 💯 or something per piece....Go there only if you want to spend your money on a whimsical scale...EDIT: I just read the other reviews, and could only understand this part, they all belong to the Creamy layer of the society.Well, for the just below the creamy layer people, go only if you have just earned a high bonus, want to spend it one night.OVER TO YOU PEOPLE !!;-)
Great place to have authentic bengali food and great host Sobhendu Dada.
Ordered a prawns kabiraji cutlet and the dinosaur egg sized cutlet was loaded with potatoes and beetroot. I had to literally break open the item in search of prawns and the item was priced 180+ (Just for aloo and beetroot). Also if you order online the packaging is poor and spills on most occasions. For the rates that they charge the restaurant should ensure better packaging and quality food portions
Authentic flavours. Bong ambience thanks the passionate owners. However its only worth one visit.
Its a home made food away from home. Very good food quality.. Specially for bongs. Must visit.. you will be delighted.
I always used to believe that Bengali food is just about fish. But I was so wrong. This place is a must visit to every foodie out there. Everything from mutton kosha to prawn curry. From veg thali to aam chutney, everything is just delicious. If you still havent visited this place, guys what are you waiting for?
Its food quality is not good at all
Awsome taste reminds me of my grandmother .....keep on growing .....the true authentic place to be...
Awesome place for Bangalis in Dehradun, Bengali food is just awesome in here
All u can say is awesome , 6 Stars out of 5 , outstanding
This is a good place to munch on bengali cuisine in Dehradun. Price of some exotic fish preparations may seem like bit over-priced, but then youre not going to have those preprations everyday. Moong Dal, Mochar Chop, Dhokar Daalna are some must try dishes other than Non vegetarian preparations. Location is bit off from main city so commune is a con.
Best bengali cuisine...mouth watering dishes....Kobiraj cutlet is a must.....
Amazing customer services ❣️
Reasonable good quality food and friendly staff.
Excellent
Awesome place Must visit for authentic Bengali food
Price is a bit higher but the quality and maintenance is good enough...
