A pricey meal thats well worth the price. It was so delicious and the cocktails are phenomenal. Highly highly recommend coming by here for a nice date. Also the staff and ambiance was warm and welcoming.

The service was absolutely amazing, and everything was delicious! The large cocktail menu features truly excellent drinks, and all the food is fantastic. Entree portions are a little modest, but dessert portions are LARGE!

Service and atmosphere was spot on. Large portions and reasonably priced for the three course meal. Not authentic italian dishes, but you wont walk away hungry. The olive oil used with bread was subpar, but overall a fine experience.

I have enjoyed coming here with family and on dates. The food is excellent, service is usually pretty good. However, on my last visit with more of my family, somewhere along the way, the fact that my cousin has severe food allergies didnt seem to get across well enough. I dont know whose error it was, but it resulted in an ER visit for my cousin.So, if you have food allergies I would recommend looking elsewhere. If you dont have allergies, its a great place to dine.

I went with family to celebrate after moving. The waiter was knowledgeable and helpful, and everything we ate was delicious, especially the cioppino.Its an Italian place, but they have plenty of options that arent just pasta, and multiple great sharing options. Everyone ordered very different entrees and were all very happy with them.They have a few unique cocktails along with beer and a LOT of wine.Way too full for dessert, though.

Bar Roma is a cool spot for a drink at the bar and some appetizers. I have had the Bruschette con Pomodori, which was delicious and pretty much comes served as you would expect, and the Pollo polpette (meat balls) which were hearty, flavorful and, of course, meaty.I cannot say that I enjoyed our pasta, however, which was the Cavatelli Carbonara. The plate came out with the cavatelli floating in a white sauce that had very little flavor. There were bacon bits, a heatlhy serving of grated parmesan and what I assume was shredded basil, and six medium size shrimp served with the tails on. Once I got done peeling the tails off I dug in and was mostly disappointed. There was no creaminess to the sauce, it was very watery and thin. There was no cheese or egg flavor. The shrimp were good enough for the work I put into being able to eat them but beyond that there was nothing much to celebrate here.We did have a good experience with oour drinks. I started with a Roman Old Fahsioned. I dont know what is Roman about it, it just has cherry liqueur in it which made it taste more like a Manhattan. But it was good none-the-less. We also had the Rapido IGT sangiovese and I ordered a second glass. The wine comes in a caraffe and I believe the bartender told us they pour about a third of a bottle with each glass you order.The decor here is nice, there is a patio, and the servers were friendly. We had a fun interaction with some of the other patrons at the bar. I dont think I would ever come here and not sit at the bar or on the patio. This isnt a place I want to come to for dining. Im glad to have a second option in Andersonville for Italian and drinks, but I think Calo is still going to be the reigning champ for the mains.

Excellent food, from start to finish. Bread is served warm with a parm cheese olive oil dip, followed by all 3 meatball apptz and the arinchini ball - all melt in the mouth good and flavorful. Then I had cacio e pepe with spicy sausage; waiter recommended and it was Chefs 💋 So delicious and a generous portion that I had enough for leftovers the next day. Cant wait to go back!

This might be my favorite Italian restaurant in Chicago, for the price. The atmosphere is inviting and staff are very professional. You MUST try the meatballs. We ordered the pork belly- amazing. We also got the calamari, lasagna, and the polpo. Everything was great. My only complaint is the happy hour. If you sit in one room, you get half off apps. Other room, it’s half off wine- which is odd and wasn’t explained by our server, which was a bit of a bummer when we received the check

This place is great! I don’t think the google profile really is accurate for the vibe of this restaurant. We sat in the bar area and had great service, great cocktails, appetizers and dessert. It was absolutely the best tiramisu I’ve ever had and the bruschetta was so good! We will definitely be back!!

Wow! Really awesome.

We did carry out and loved it. The spicy pork meatballs were the highlight along with tiramisu for dessert. The takeout also came with bread, parmesan, and olive oil which was a pleasant surprise.

My sister and I randomly/luckily got a table even though they were booked. The moment we got in, everyone was so sweet: our host was so well dressed in a flamingo print dress. We are here last night and the service was absolutely appalling. We were not going to leave a bad review because we did enjoy most of the food. However, when walking out we were encouraged by a waitress to review the place due to how horrible the bartender who served us was. We were informed his name is Devon. The waitress indicated the owner would want to know about this. When you go out to dinner, service is half of it. Food was 5 stars, service was 0 (And we still tipped him).Would not return to pay almost 100 dollars for two to eat if this is not handled. Would recommend the same for others.

Last week was the first time we went to this restaurant. But It is no doubt not the last time. We enjoyed the evening very much with the courteous service, with the magnificent cooking and booze and with the honest pay. We will surely come back soon.

Everything we ordered was delicious. We came during happy hour (order everything between the hours of 5-6:30) and everything on the appetizer menu, including meatballs, was half off. The octopus was one of the best Ive ever had, and we really enjoyed the calamari as well. We ordered 3 types of meatballs (all but vegetarian) and thought that the chicken meatball was the best one. This place is a real gem and a great experience from beginning to end! The staff is friendly, extremely knowledge, and helpful. They are serving what I would call a smartly edited and well prepared presentation of authentic Italian cuisine. In all dishes we had, the flavors were deep, but fresh and surprising. Did I mention how friendly and knowledgeable the staff were? Our server was able to make really honest and thoughtful suggestions from beginning to end. They also make great cocktails! We go back over and over again and are never disappointed.

My husband and I ended up trying the salad, muscles, and spaghetti. The atmosphere was very welcoming, I ended up conversing with this lady sitting beside me. The bartender John was really nice and knowledgeable of the beverages, the menu, and the food and drinks being served. Try this place, I definitely recommend it!

Questionable food, overly salty and served quickly enough to make me think it was reheated. The chicken I had was stringy and chewy. Ive cooked better chicken with my foreman grill and store brand chicken. Service was average at best, arguably below par given the small number of other patrons in the restaurant. Alcohol offerings were decent and probably needed in order to enjoy the bland food. The decor could use some work, unless stale brown earthtones were the intended aesthetic.

I ordered a side of summer squash and they sent brussel sprouts. The bread pudding was good but it had a little too much chocolate and did not come with the stated vanilla gelato. The meatballs were good but the sauce was a little runny. I do not recommend take out or delivery.

Bar Roma is a gem in Andersonville. The vibe is wonderful. It’s great for a nice date while also being semi casual. They have a restaurant side and a tavern side. Italian food is solid. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They also have good happy hour and brunch deals.

Loses one star because every time we go there without a reservation, they refuse to seat us in the dining area, even when the place is literally (not being hyperbolic) empty. I overheard last time we were there that theyre working that out, so hopefully next time we go back for an impromptu visit, Ill update it to the fifth star. In the meantime, make your reservation!

Impressive menu for a smaller spot making carefully crafted dishes. Portions are reasonable and the meatballs are outstanding. Not an Italian wine expert but the list seemed fairly comprehensive. Service on the other hand was a major disappointment. We spent a ton of time waiting during each break in action (menus, forks down, dessert, check) to the point where we were ready to start waving our hands. And were typically pretty content and patient with our glasses of wine in hand. Hopefully just an off night for them on the service front because the prices dont justify that level of service.
