Nice place to have Indian Pakistani food. They have a new location now in River North Gold Coast area.I have dined in earlier at the Lincoln Park location earlier a couple of times. This time I ordered online Chicken Biryani and Lamb Curry. Both were good. The pieces in Biryani were a little chewy but taste was good.I would recommend their Lamb Biryani over Chicken Biryani.

My wife and daughter enjoyed todays meal. The server tried his best to make everyone happy, thank you.

I came here on Sunday after trying their Tikka Masala Shrimp Tacos at the Taste of Lincoln Avenue festival. I ordered the ceviche, vegetable biriyani, and fish masala and they were all DELICIOUS 😋. I liked the atmosphere and Arnold was a great server! Cant wait to come back here again.

Food is great but what makes this place even better is the staff being so kind and open with their customers. The owners are usually the waiters and they go above and beyond to make you feel welcome

Even though the restaurant is relatively small, and it usually requires reservation in advance to avoid long wait, the food is legitimately authentic and thus worth the wait. Many Indian people that I know have confirmed that this is one of their favorite typical North Indian cuisine in Chicago. Most of the dishes in the Indian restaurants are rotated around the three main types of meat: chicken, lamb, and goat. The complimentary basket of some kind of Indian bread served with three types of dipping sauce were exceptionally outstanding. The lamb biriyani with well-seasoned, tender lamb meat cooked in the basmati rice to perfection was juiciness and flavorful, even though the kick from the heat was not for everyone to handle. Service is considerably attentive and of a high-end type. Ambiance is laid-back with dimmed lighting.

Horrible food!My wrap had an entire potato; they did not even slice it into pieces! The stuffing had no salt. It seemed as if I was handed over a DIY kit of the wrap: go home and do assemble your own wrap. The bread on the wrap was at least an inch thick. The samosas were overcooked and the stuffing was bland. I had to toss all the food in the dustbin. Never visiting this place again...

Great place, delish food. Must try Chaat Fries, chicken tandoori and Combo Biryani. Make sure you have reservations aa this place is always booked especially on the weekends.

The best Indian food and we make it at home. Visiting from out of town wish we had this at home.

The food is always delicious! Make sure to order mild for medium spice. Medium for me is SPICY. Service is quick. Servers are friendly and knowledgeable about the menu items.

Loved it, came in right when they first opened a few years back the owner was at our table giving us samples and cheesecake. The wraps were scrumptious and the chat fries were so good.

The worst food I EVER had, they took 2hrs 31 mins and 19 sec to get my food and if were able to give 0 stars I would. I paid $200+ And it’s burnt, it’s dry and honestly a blind person could cook better food than the chef that made it.

It was my brothers 22nd birthday we went there for dine-in there wasn’t many people there and 1.5hrs to close they said they won’t take us because we were group of 10 they don’t want to have good business we really wanted to try that place since the reviews were good.

Very bad food…The bread was not cooked completely…The stuffing was not well prepared; the veggies were not chopped/cut properly…Food was bland…I had to throw the food away…

BYOB restaurant with traditional and fusion dishes. Very reasonably priced (about 16-20 for an entree with unlimited rice and chutney). Friendly knowledgeable staff, authentic yet creative dishes. A great place for a relaxing dinner with friends or a date. Would highly recommend.

It did not taste like Indian food. Very bland. Misleading food description on menu with barely any information. Malai Chicken was very dry and over cooked and chicken karhai had wrong description and it tasted bland. Naan was dry and salty as well.Wasn’t fan of this food at all. I wouldn’t recommend any one trying for authentic Indian food. Also they didn’t have drinks menu.

Worst experience!!When we go to Chicago we try different Indian food. This time I was with my wife and daughter and I have been following this restaurant on Facebook.Half stuffed and half baked Naans and roti, bland food (Nihari) is what we had for lunch. The guy in the front was the only good thing to this Restaurant (Hence the second star).

Amazing food! You can tell it is all cooked with attention to detail and passion. Service is excellent. If you want to introduce a friend to Indian cuisine, this is where you need to go.

I have never had such experience with any restaurant before. I placed my order over the phone at 9:40pm and they said itll be ready in 30-35 mins. I got caught up in something and was late when I arrived to pick it up. I got a call from them at 10:40pm asking if I was coming to pick it up and I felt really bad since it was past their closing time. I drove crazily to them and reached there by 10:50pm. I was expecting that the food must have gone cold by now and I was dreading the wait until I reheat it. But thats not all I had to wait for. Once I paid, they tell me that they forgot to make one of the dishes I ordered (I ordered 3 dishes). They said theyll make it real quick and bring it to my car. I felt bad that they had to work after hours so I decided to wait thinking itll be another 10-15 minutes. After about 25 minutes, I lose my patience and go in to check on them, and they say they actually forgot two out of the three items I ordered! And Ive to wait a little more! I dont understand how can a group of people forget 2 major items from the order when the restaurant was not even busy and did not have dine in open. The food was okay, not great. This whole experience was a cherry on top! Never going back!

As someone who lived in NYC for almost a decade and the Bay area CA for some years, this place is amazing! I got the combo biryani and beef Samosas. First, the customer service during the takeout order and pickup was wonderful - their workers should be commended! Second, their Samosas are as big as softballs but they in no way lack flavor - the deep spices in these little pockets of wonder are spot on authentic to many that Ive had made for me by friends grandmothers. Again, SO GOOD. Finally, the biryani flavor profile reminds me of family style dinners I used to have, and the large chunks of all the meats are delicious and delicate. Between these two choices I could easily feed two hungry people but I decided to order just for myself - no regrets. 😎 If you want to try proper spice, too, pick medium for your spicy level, and dont be surprised if it lingers: Thats the best part! All and all - 5 stars across customer service, authenticity and flavor, and portion size for the price point. Eat here immediately! 😍

Ordered (delivery- lunch break, 6 miles away) the Chana Masala with vegetable samosa and basmati rice. It really was having a conversation in my mouth. Had to shut up and listen 🤤 not the mention it arrived hot and perfectly stacked in the bag 🤩 very good service.

One of the best restaurants in Chicago area to try Indo-Pak cuisine. The Grandma’s Aachar is my favourite and love the combo biryani. Its BYOB and they will charge a $10 corkage fees.

Perfect experience from start to finish. The gentleman taking our order was so kind its rare to experience such wonderful customer service now a days. The food was out of this world. We usually compare food to what weve had in India, and thus far this is the closest yet. The meat samosa was so flavorful and fried to perfection. The tandoor mix included very juicy chicken and perfectly flavored moist kabob. The garlic naan was large and so fresh. Way better than the average place. We also tried the lamb, chicken, and shrimp tacos. Wow! Who knew tortilla tasted so good with Tikka masala (which also was so satisfying). For the first time I had a mango lassi where you appreciate the yogurt as well as mango fruit pieces. And to top it off, the mango cheesecake is so decadent and you can appreciate it is home made. Thank you Tandoor Char House for treating us like family and feeding us food so good we forgot were not in India!!

Haven’t tried the food but they never let us in because we have a group of 10. They had space but they said they cant take party more than 8? Thats just absurd and which restaurant does that? How are people going to try if they don’t let groups in? They really need to work on their service.

A small place with a big plates and great dishes! The tandoori chicken is amazing and the chutneys that go with it make the dinner satisfying. Not to mention its BYOB. A little loud in the dining space but that comes with the territory of being small. The family run place really adds to the charm. All in all its highly recommendable and the prices are very fair, spent about $65 for 2 and had plenty of leftovers.

Mouth-watering tandoor delicacies and some creative gems such as the Tamarid Chicken Wings on the menu make this place a must visit in Chicagoland for lovers of Indian/Pakistani cuisine. Service is quick and the amicable servers take great care of the guests. Liked their portions and the dishes seem reasonably priced. Seating is limited so you might wanna make a reservation ahead of time if you are planning to visit during busy hours on the weekend.

The customer service was superb. Everyone working there is Awesome and they all go above and beyond in catering for you. I had the Grill Platter and Boneless Lamb Biryani, it was Grilled to Perfection and the Biryani was amazing, lots of Meat and taste was superb.

Amazing food. Although, I cant expand on how this compares against other local Indian restaurants, I do know this food was large in portions and delicious. The chef does a great job accommodating the spicy level you can handle.

This place is the real deal. It is the same quality I have had dining in the home of my Pakistani friends. The Tandoor briyana is awesome. We were ordering all kinds of stuff and eating like fools. But things started showing up we didnt order. Then the owner came and talked to us (he sent the extra food ). Faraz is a great guy. He even offered to make goat Briyani for us next time we come (folks, the flavor those goat bones gives the rice is so killer who cares about the bones). The ambience and wait staff are great but the food is off the charts. FIVE STARS!!!!!!!

I drive 40 mins just to hear that you need reservation for the table, I called them before and also checked their website they never stated anything about reservations. I reach there look for the parking and payed for it and then when I go inside the attendant say that you need reservations or you could wait 30 mins and then you could order what is left. Decided to order a little late night Indian Food from Tandoor Char House cause #millennial I’ve been here numerous times before and the food is amazing but I was always suspicious of the quantity that is received for the price. This time I was extremely disappointed by the amount of food that was given. There were only maybe 5 pieces of chicken and 1 little slab of beef in the chicken tikka masala and beef nehari that was ordered!!!Paying $15+ for only sauce is pretty ridiculous, albeit a delicious sauce, but I’m not ordering ragu for pasta. This time I was let down and had to say something!

Super delicious and authentic taste! We shared the mutton biryani and frontier chicken. The mutton was cooked and marinated to perfection. Great service too. Be sure to make a reservation on the weekend.

I ordered lamb karahi and assorted naan basket.The lamb karahi was extremely salty and watery. Mildly spiced in a tomato watery curry. Very disappointed. Should have sent back.The naans were delightful. Really tasty and crispy.

Very friendly staff and excellent service. However the meal is mediocre at best. The naan bread was alright, not a lot of spices on the bread just more like just baked bread, although it was made fresh. I got the Chana masala which is vegetarian dish composed of chick peas in a spicy tomato sauce. The chick peas were hard likely undercooked.

This review is long overdue. Simply put: the biriyani is EXCELLENT. Best I’ve tried, personally.My story about the first time coming here back in May 2020: When I called in with my American AF accent, the guy verified with me I was calling the right place - I was. Not sure if that means most of their customers speak their language, but only means that YOU should go there now! He was super cool and accommodated my request to split a single meal into 2 takeout containers.After arriving and being told my food was still being made fresh (woo), he handed me my bag, genuinely thanked me for supporting the business during the pandemic, and let me know they kindly gave me almost 2 full servings of biriyani due to my request. I was delighted, and even more so after trying it! It was amazing. Can’t wait to go back. These guys have delicious food, and are super cool/nice.

I have ordered here a couple of times and loved the food. Food tastes like freshly made and always delivered warm. My favorite place for Indian food. Samosas with tamarind chutney and butter chicken are my favorites.

Ordered steak which was perfectly cooked with the right amount of tenderness. I tried it with all the sauces they offered. It was a nice experience!

I love Pakistani food, but I also try to live a more sustainable and slightly healthier lifestyle than Pakistani takeout usually allows. Tandoor has the Pakistani flavor I look for with expanded options for people like me. Instead of the usual grilled meats, I was able to get tandoori fish, and substituted chicken biryani with shrimp biryani. Both were delicious and didn’t have the crazy amount of oil Pakistani and Indian restaurants usually have. The naan was also nice and chewy, similar to what I’ve had back home. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience!

I have ordered from Tandoor Char house many times. Tonight I ordered and was dissatisfied with my meal. I sent an email to the restaurant letting them know about the issues and I was contacted shortly after with an apology and an offer to refund my order. I seek out restaurants that have their own delivery so I can support them instead of Uber and Grubhub. Tandoor has good food, fast delivery and excellent customer service.

The best thing was the Masala fries and fresh naan. Chili Chicken Biryani was good. Tandoori platter, everything was overcooked and dry.. Bhagara baingan was so bad and tasteless - we had to send it back. But they offered to take that off our bill, which is very nice

I will start by saying the food was delicious. However... We ordered chicken saag and shrimp tikka masala. The dishes could better be named saag-saag-saag-saag with 4 small pieces of chicken, and tikka masala-tikka masala-tikka masala-tikka masala and 6 medium shrimp. We had to actively try to find the meat in the bowls. If youre looking for protein in your curry, you probably should give Tandoor Char House a pass. Maybe it was just a bad night...not sure, but I will not be returning or ordering again.

Very rude customer service... I do Postmates and when I went to pick up a order it stated on the app that waiting the vehicle theyre not allowing anyone inside theyre only doing curbside check me in and Ill bring it out to the car for you I waited outside for almost 20 minutes so I finally get tired of waiting and I called and I asked the guy Im like you know Im outside Im picking up an order for XYZ and you all are bringing it out right hes a no maam we dont do that Im like so you all dont do curbside because on the app and in mid-sentence the guy cuts me off and says the restaurant is open maam we dont do that you can come in and get it..... Im just like I find that so rude and disrespectful its a way to say anything and I feel like for you to be answering the phone and dealing with customers you should have a better persona and face for the restaurant

This will be the last time I order from here. It used to be good but this is the second time Ive ordered the chicken tikka masala and it had no flavor. It was like tomato sauce...I had to add my own garam masala to it to add some flavor.

Three words: Chicken Tikka Masala! I like a little spice so the chef graciously made ours a little spicy. Every. Bite. Was. Heavenly 😋We also got the Rib Eye medium well done with a side of the same sauce as the tikka masala. Again, unbelievably delicious.Waiters and the owners (one who is the chef) very kind and awesome service. They came to our table several times to make sure everything was okay.Unique to the restaurant: Mango Cheesecake. 👍

The steaks were on point but the tandoori platter left a lot to be desired of. The chicken empanadas were superb along with the assorted Naan basket and Perfect Lassis

You MUST try the chicken tikka masala ! hands down one of my favorite dishes in the entire city! The portions are amazing and the quality of the food is beyond 5 stars. The staff is amazing and the new patio arrangement is perfect !

Food was fresh and the quality was all there in each dish. The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. Definitely going back and also it’s BYOB so you can have a really good time and enjoy some really good food. 10/10 will be recommending this place to friends.

Ordered take out for the first time today. We tried the masala ceviche, tandoori mix grill, Cajun chicken boti, chicken tikka masala and lamb karahi. The food was flavorful and fresh. They stand true to their name and their tandoori items were by far the highlight of our dinner. The service was courteous and professional. I would recommend this place to others.
