This place serves Kerala style food. The food platter is very delicious, they serve vegetarian & non-vegetarian food. They have good variety in fish , chicken & mutton. Only concern is that the non-veg items are expensive as per the quantity.This place is 1.2KM from Chepauk railway station.

This is undoubtedly one of the best place for some wholesome meals and biryani. The fact is most of you already know how good their meals is and youll be stepping out to try their meals right now. Let me tell you, their mutton biryani is great too 😍 Nalla veetla senja biryani maari, tharamaa irukum! Do give them a try!!Their egg omlette was the star of the show. They make it in coconut oil which almost gives like a fatty flavour to it. I was surprised to see how well coconut oil and egg worked together.

I am a regular at Nair mess. They serve quality food that are delicious. The employees are friendly and attentive. The price is very reasonable too. The only con is that their menu is limited. But I dont mind it as long as they serve good food.

A very old aged place but the taste remains intact. Delicious meals which tickle our palate. The fish fry, fish curry, the prawn tokku was mouth watering. A recommended place for a sumptuous meal.

Kerala cusine !! Food was amazing, especially prawns fry and fish fry are must try items.Other that taste, i felt it is expensive for the quantity they give. For 3 of us it costed around 1400/- in a mess (ac mess) !! Anyways but it is totally worth it. Must try place.

One of the heritage restaurants of CHENNAI from 1960s, placed inside the gully of TRIPLICANE....not be a missed one and it never disappoints u thats what makes me visit over the years .If u want to have fresh sea food and awesome meals this is one place not be missed....though it was a bachelors paradise over the years they have made space for families too with an AC hall.The vanjaram here is a delicacy u cant find anywhere else a much thinner and fresh FISH ....my first order over here will be this as usual ,ordered a MUTTON BIRIYANI as well it was in pure ARCOT style BASMATHI BIRIYANI .....super good with dhalcha and raitha as accompaniments. Finished off with additional rice with awesome fish gravy ,mutton gravy, top notch class rasam and buttermilk. The other mess I yearn for is KASI VINAYAGA MESS in TRIPLICANE ..its a pure veg one ....couldnt find time for that one this time. HAPPY EATING FOLKS 😋😋😋👍

Better avoid biriyani and side dishes too pricey neat and hygiene environment

I discovered this gem of a place recently though it’s a like a Chennai Institution from olden days!Lunch time is the most crowded but there is ample space with A/c and non A/c dining halls. Fixed menu is served on banana leaves. Tried the non veg meals fried fish prawn masala mutton sukka and omelette. The meals with fish curry and fish fry are super delicious. If fact the fish fry was tasty in Seer fish slice. It’s a must try. The prawn and mutton was not to my liking. Omelette was well done. Another evening went to try out dinner. Had paratha with fish curry and mutton curry. Plus omelette and a dosa. The paratha and omelette was tasty with fish curry. They serve idly and idiappam as well. The place is hygienic with waiters wearing masks. But don’t expect social distancing between tables as it’s very crowded during lunch hours. Dinner is less of a crowd. Must try mess.

Their ambiance was fantastic. Foods tasted really good. Authentic Kerala style curries and dishes. Service was quick and neat. Only thing that bothers is the quantity, which is way more less for the price it holds, other than that, a cosy place to visit for non-vegetarians.

If there was one more star...I love it because, I feel like the food they serve is good in quality. Yep!!! It tastes like home made food. But if you want a A class experience then this place isnt the one for you..Mouth watering taste..

The food taste is in Kerela style. The food is like home made. Vegetarian and Non-vegetarian meals are available here. Fish gravy is one of the signature dish here. Briyanis are also available here. All type of non-vegetarian dishes are available here. Ambience is also very nice. The way to the restaurant is so congested, but for the taste we can comprise the inconvenience. Parking is not available here.

Lot of positive changes right from the year 2014 to 2021. On my first visit, the restaurant was too small and didnt like the ambience really yet the food they served was an authentic kerala cuisine. Later in 2021 tremendous improvement, now the excellent infrastructure and the delicious food attracted thousands of customers is guess. Only disadvantage I can see is, they need to increase the service staff, as I can see there is too shortage and late service.

Went there for lunch and it was absolutely not worth the visit. The food served was a subsidised version of what they serve at normal restaurants, while the price is too high. They served fish curry meals, which had a watery fish curry and 2 other side dishes. They charged separately for the meals and the fish curry which is just outrageous. The other order was a fishy fry which had the thickness of a blade. I do not understand why the place is this popular.

Was eager to try this place for long time.Today could taste thier mutton Biryani and Vanjaram fish fry. Fish fry was simply superb, thin slice, perfect masala and was fresh. Mutton Biryani was ok but not so great. Mutton gravy tasted good but too much salty.Car parking would be nearly impossible inside that Street. Bike parking would be possible.Price for fish fry 220/₹ worth it.But mutton Biryani just small two pieces and rice quantity also was less.Service can be improved, since they are established and etched thier brand may they dont want to focus on that part 🙂

A little tough to find through Google maps, ask the autorickshaw people to reach the place. Decent place, forget the ambience, just cherish the full meals being served

Nair mess has gone to dogs. They have increased their prices and started serving less quantity. Its probably they knew that they became famous and just wanted to bask on it. See the photos for reference. That is mutton liver and mutton chops. For that quantity its now 87 rupees. Less price and high cost. The taste and quality hasnt changed. But it is a spoiler for a foodie.

I hv eat luch for the past 25 years from Chepauk. No chillies in NV kulambu.All coconut mixed. U sit sharp at 1.00 pm for quick dining. Otherwise waiting token will be provided outside the hotel.

This was my Second visit after 8 years and it has changed a lot.Renovated and looks good but there is no information/menu for first timers.Servers are well mannered and Orally give you the menu but in the chaos of Popularity they bring you every other dish to try even if u dont order it Incase your senses want them after you look at them.The Menu is simple they have standard Meals which are mash up of Kerala or Chettinadu cuisine. Thats INR 95You can order Chicken/Mutton/Fish curry in a small bowl and can request them to give extra too. Thats around INR 95Or thick masala Prawn too which we didnt tryYou can add Fish fry for 200 and an Omelette .You got Chicken and mutton Biriyani.Tasty food and awesome new decor but the quantity of sides are so less in other words its expensive for the serving.This old classic is situated in a not so good narrow road. No parking nearby.My suggestion is to increase quantity/servings.Put a menu board even if its limited menu and make your servers to inform the same and accommodate the guests

I can give them 5 star for banana leaf giving side dish in dhonnai and water for free, Service is fast, all the items are served hot, fully crowded even though they are managing well. Parking you need to park in main road. Veg Meals 67, fish/mutton kuzhambu 64, fish fry 190, omelette 30. Its maintained well clean.

Nair mess is located in the bylanes near chepauk stadium, Triplicane. Its very difficult task to find this place, you have to be patient. If you want to have everything on the menu then its better to visit at afternoon. Most of the items arent available at night. Unfortunately biryani was not available at night time. So we ordered meals, prawns fry and mutton fry. I felt meals here was okayish, my favourite dish was mutton fry. Ambience of this place was good, nothing fancy.

If u planning for a lunch with side dish this place is very goodDuring peak time u getting seats for more that 4 people group n Al very very difficult . It will be very crowd during peak time . 12.30 - 2 and u will not be served property during that time . During Tn assembly days this place will be event more crowd . More political ppl come for the lunch .Other big issue is parking . Some times u wont get place to park Ur bike in the hotel street . Best option is park Ur vehicle on the main road and come by walk .

Its located inside a lane,hygine is good&well mantained.i had dinner & it was ok,but not exceptional.by the taste of the food i had ordered it cant be termed as authentic kerela food.the prices are on a higher side.the quantity of prawns&chicken in the dishes should be more.there are better&cheaper food oulets in Chennai.
