This is one of the premium veg restaurant in Chennai. Mathsya restaurant is a bit better in taste and ambience compared to other restaurants like Sangeetha. They have a good variety in their buffet and if you prefer vegetarian buffet, this is one of the best you can dine. They follow covid protocols and they also offer party halls. The quality to price ratio is really good for buffets...Good place to dine with friends and family and an ideal place to give treat 🙂

Mathsya is a household name For fine dining for years now.The Egmore Branch is the flag bearer of this Brand And true to its Fine dining experience, the Ambience of the Hotel was excellent. I visited this place for a dinner buffet with my friends Yesterday. As expected the ambience and Service was excellent.However.....The food was surprisingly disappointing and Totally Bad in taste. The Highlights in this 500 Rupee Buffet were the Cauliflower Fry(starter) Corn Vada(Starter) , Mac N Cheese Potato Wedges and Curd Rice. The Rice Items were excellent compared to the Tandoori items..The side dishes were mightily disappointing and to add to it the Ice cream was horrible. The standout Dish is the Live Counter Dosa. they have 3 varieties or Dosa. plain dosa, masala dosa and podi dosa. All were exceptional in taste .Totally disappointed with the main course. The Side dishes were done so bad that Taste of Panneer was horrible. the desserts were Okayish and overall I would Not recommend this Place for BuffetNevertheless,Mathsya is a great place for family dinners and Would recommend Ala Carte over Buffet.but heavily disappointed with the Buffet taste and Spread.

I had heard a lot about this place. Yesterday I went there with my family. First of all we ordered Cream of Tomato soup. Instead of cream of tomato soup, they gave tomato catch up. And put cream in the garnish. If the restaurant people are reading this review, then let me tell you that Cream of Tomato Soup has cream added in it. There was neither garlic flavor nor any other flavor in the soup. I drank the worst soup in my life last night. Then Hot and Sour Soup. which was completely pale. It had neither the taste of garlic nor the taste of ginger. Then we ordered Idiapam and that was equally useless. Giving 2 stars only for dosa. But dosa is good everywhere. It was a very messy experience.

Sunday buffet, so much crowd. People milling around, jumping ahead of you and grabbing food. You expect to have a peaceful ambience with good quality food. Not a place for some privacy of space. May be weekdays are better, I hope.Food options and taste arent that good for the price of Rs. 576. And then did run out of refills and you have to wait. Fine dining, Im not sure it yet fits that definition, though I hope they will improve. Please take note, create lesser seating capacity, anticipate crowd and regulate. The worst thing to do when theres demand, is to get greedy.

Visited on last Sunday afternoon. I was not much satisfied personally and my family also told that the test was so so. Not so tasty, so we can think of another visit or to ask someone to visit Mathsya for good food. May be it is due to over rush of customers. But, it was definitely not up to the mark, as we thought.

Mathsya never disappoints with the quality of food. The taste is drool worthy. Just like every other restaurant in the market, its slightly on the expensive side. The motto of Money for Quality seems to be working though, as a person who can afford it will definitely enjoy the food. Being in the ultra posh area of Gandhi Nagar in Adyar, the cost is hardly anything.

We had the buffet for dinner on a weekday. The food was really good and considering the price, the spread is value for money. The starter options were less but to compensate that, they had much more main course options. Overall, the food was really good with some items from main course being superb and even the chaats. The service deserves a special mention as it was prompt and courteous. They also have parking space available. A good place to dine with family and friends.

Undoubtedly one of the best Pure veg premium restaurants in Chennai. It’s buffet-only and no à la carte available.Loved the food spread, quality and taste.Located at the centre of food hub, Adyar!Cost is pretty decent and not too expensive. Close to 1200-1300 for two people. Nominal compared to other buffet-only lunch star restaurants.Great ambience, Family-friendly, decent service.Only con I felt is, it is too crowded on special occasions (even on a busy evening) and it gets too packed to move around. Even then, a great place to pay a visit with family or friends!

Today, I along with my friends Karthik Murali & Shrinidhi Hande visited Mathsya Restaurant, Adyar for dinner. This is a pure veg restaurant. Being a pure veg myself(only in Saturday), I couldn’t have asked for a better restaurant. This brand hails from Udupi, Karnataka and is known for their delicacies like bisi-belle bath, neer dosa, kadubu & Guliappa to name a few.We started with a welcome drink - rose milk. Post that we moved on to Tomato soup. My friends felt it was too sweet. For me, it was ok.Then we ordered a dish made of corn. It was crispy and spicy. Liked the taste very much. Then it was Lotus Stem soaked in Chilli & Lemon. It tasted unique. Then we ordered Neer Dosa. You shouldn’t miss it if you’re looking for Udupi delicacies apart from bisibeke bath, guliappa & kadubu. Kadubu is usually served in jack fruit leaf but since the leaf is a rarity and it takes time to prepare, we got it in a normal way. So, don’t be disappointed, if you were expecting that style. The taste is intact. The highlight was the rocket Dosa. It is a 4 feet Dosa which could easily satisfy the hunger of 4 people. It comes with lot of coconut & mint Chutney, Sambar, potato masala. We ended our dinner with a sweet lime juice. Shrinidhi alone ordered butter milk.Highly recommended. Be early because it is jam packed. You may have to wait in the queue before you get your turn but it is worth your time and money.

I had the opportunity to acquaint myself fairly well with the culinary offerings of Mathsya over a period of 3 days. We tested a range of services: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Home Delivery, Bulk Order delivered at home. The item that remained a common fixture across services: their Ghee Podi Dosa. The other constant: quality. Happy indeed must Gandhi Nagar, Adyar be in being able to access this place at will.Their ambience is surprisingly old school in that it uses large windows to suffuse the interiors with the bright Chennai sun. Thats a throwback to a more traditional approach in our day and age of under-lit places. Just wished they didnt have to use chandelier style lighting on top of this! Highly recommended if youre in the vicinity.

Mathsya is a popular restaurant in Chennai for South Indian, particularly Udupi style food. I had visited their Pondy Bazaar outlet multiple times. Now they have two more branches. Got to visit their Adyar outlet recently and this is the review.Mathsya is a pure vegetarian restaurant, serving South Indian, North Indian dishes, as well as a few Chinese and Mexican items. But I decided to stay focused on the Udupi items they have on offer. We were given a welcome drink- rose milk. Ordered Guliyappa (aka Paniyaram in tamil)- a dish where batter used to make dosa/idli is baked in the shape of small balls on a specialized tawa. Infused with some vegetables for added taste and served with chutney, sambar, the first item gave good start to the evening. Friends ordered some starters- lotus stem and fried corn. These were good, but I liked crispy corn served at Coal Barbeque and few other restaurants a bit better.Neer dose is another coastal Karnataka special dish you should try. (neer= water in Kannada) It is a thin layer of dosa served with coconut flakes and jaggery. Serving this in sets of 2 would have been better in my opinion.Next ordered a plate of Kadubu. Kadubu is coastal Karnataka dish where idle batter is cooked in a cup made of jackfruit leaves. I was expecting the same, full sized Kadubu in jackfruit leaves. But we were served smaller sized ones- no difference in taste but missed the aroma of jackfruit leaves. Upon checking with management later we were told about the operational challenges- non-availability of jackfruit leaves and time it takes to cook during busy evenings. While we waited for Rocket Masala Dosa, a four foot long Masala dosa, next order of Bisibee bath arrived. Taste was authentic. I had buttermilk for company while I savored on the bisibele bath (also known as sambar rice). Rocket Masala dosa now arrived, drawing attention of everyone around, thanks to its long size. Masala is not stuffed inside like a conventional masala dosa but is supplied separately in bowls.Wanted to try Mangalore Bonda and Thatte idli but didn’t have any space left. The items are reasonably priced. One Udupi item I felt missing in the menu was Patrode.Overall Mathsya Adyar is a great vegetarian outlet in Adyar area to visit with family, for authentic south Indian food. They also have great collection of North Indian, Chinese dishes. There will be fair bit of waiting on weekends.
