Went here for lunch with a friend. The cheap prices of the unlimited buffet invited us to try out this place. The ambience isnt so great. But the food is typically north Indian, and does justice to its name - Dhaba Express! There are veg and non veg buffets, and an a la carte menu as well. There was chole batura, rotis, pasta, and 3-4 different sabjis and gravys to pick from. Great place to go to when your pockets are empty and you want some good unlimited north Indian food
If you wish to spend money and not know why you spent it, then definitely try the buffet at this place.Money is collected upfront and once you reach the spread, you realise why. Absolutely nothing was available. Attached pic for ref. And every 15 mins, one small portion of any one dish will be refilled, for which everyone will have to fight and take their rightful share.
The place is cozy and warm and is welcoming. We tried butter chicken masala, kadahi pander, karari bhindi, raita, Naan n Lachcha paranthas...food was served quickly, was piping hot, tasted amazing and had authentic flavours. Service was good and the place and food is good value for money...definitely recommended if your taste buds are craving for some authentic Punjabi flavours.
Very good pocket friendly and budget fiting restaurant in Chennais Nungambakkam area. Can easily accommodate a bunch of people. Very popular among college students and professionals for team lunch.
Beautiful Chinese food I was searching all over Chennai for the best Indian Chinese and bumped into Haka Xpress , best food in town and at such a good price .love it
Had a wonderful Experience..!!!Most of the times we come here for a Corporate Hangout..Food is really Fab at its price.. best Veg Restaurant in Nungambakkam at very much affordable price especially the buffet.. staff very much Humble & polite ... Lovely food..Would definitely Recommend..!!!
Its ok place food was ok not so super but its fine for one or two times
Best Buffet till date. 180/- veg buffet is worth every penny. Goto place for authentic North Indian Ghar Ka Khana.
Nice place to spend time and eat heavily to limited variety of unlimited Lunch (May be dinner also) A-La-carte is also available. Busy during lunch time during weekdays. good 2 wheeler parking available.
Looking for a quiet place, this would be the best option. Food taste was very good but the non veg items tasted more like frozen items.
Nice place I like it. If you have money and dont know how to spend it. Come here😂
In teynampet branch they servicing was terrible. The manager/supervisor behavior was not good. Even though they have the item available in the kitchen they were not ready to make and serve it to the customers. They just simply denied serving the item
Food is Good. But place is dingy and mosquitos will find their good food too..
The food quality and services is not that much good. But you will get buffet in ₹180. And the best thing is you will get north Indian food in Chennai.
Cost is too much as compared to quality and quantity
A nice place to eat with friends. But it can be better for sure.. The working ppl, the environment.. Food taste was nice..
This place can do better in terms of everything from ambiance to staff. The food definitely needs to be better.
Reasonable food, chapatis were excellent. Should improve decor and service.
Always go here for offbeat North Indian khana, love the kadai paneer and garlic naan and also chaas
Food is good but quality is not up to the marks. But still you will get good north Indian food as compare to other places
Overall The food is good, we have ordered soup, fish finger, tandoori, chicken, chicken briyani, other than briyani everything is good., Serve and hospitality is good too.
Food was nice though not so much ppl were there so it was kind of good for me
Great place for buffet. A place that holds nostalgia as a student, given the buffet price. All time favorite for once in a while eat all you can. Especially when you are running low 😜
Best service by staffs. All the varieties are good and unlimited. Parties are allowed on weekdays and best support provided by staffs at no extra cost.
Nice place to eat North indian food
Great Pricing. Decent taste. No paneer on the buffet menu though.
The dhaba is located on a terrace. It is has a fine environment for everyday meals. Seems like a good place for family timeout. Buffet was tasty, but lacked variety. However, dessert was perfect.
They still have the traditional utensils they use. The food options are also unchanged in last 10-12 years. Not sure if the food quality has deteriorated or just that now there are more and better options. No 4 wheeler parking.
The worst experience ever ..... I went to this restaurant for a dinner on 7th November 2018. My friends have told that this place have limited but good spread of food and served hot ...but everything felt like a myth when I went to dabba express. Food was cold , there were hardly any items available and taste was not so great . I wont never ever consider to come again to this place.
Okay Good need to improve taste
North Indian as well as south Indian delicious food. Love it also has buffet system on sat and sun.
North Indian food.. Available tasty..yet the interiors are not neat
Good food in just 180. And the testy jalebi u will not find anywhere else. Clean environment with peaceful and dhabba view.
Coming after years. Remains an inexpensive and wonderful option for a quick NorthIndian buffet lunch. Limited but tasty choices
Once it was excellent hotel for Punjabi food, nowadays the quality has gone down. Really pathetic and unbelievable. However one can enjoy the ambience. Located at the rear side of the Eldorado building on Nungambakkam High Road. This is also one of the negative aspect. Hope and wish the same would revive and come up.
Buffet is good u could nt eat other things
Food quality is nice. Unlimited Veg-food at RS.180. Dont expect more. Medium verities of food Only..
Nice place to eat north indian food and very nice 😊😊😊
Food is good. Veg buffet is there, some good choices are there. Sometimes I feel its a bit costly. Punjabi Chicken Curry is good. ;)
Good restaurant with nice lunch menu with very competitive prices. Tried their Nungambakkam and Cenatoph Road branches. Both are good.
Deserve 0 star. Its a pale shadow of what it use to be 10 years ago. Went after 4 years today and surprisingly no crowd on weekend. No A/C. Buffet was disappointing. No taste or texture in food. May be the dhaba management has changed Hands. hey seems not interested in business n might close down very soon due to lack of patronage.
Tried buffet. Quality has went down a lot but cost has increased. Re-filling is not fast and we have to wait for long time. Taste too was bad. I dont recommend.
Excellent service nd reasonable price
Food used to be amazing here, especially with ur gang. Used to be economical place. Currently it is nat at all good both taste wise and cost wise. Lost its charm.
Excellent service , awesome cusine, best place for evening party.. the dishes were delicious , fresh and authentic punjabi. ambience need to be improved.
The taste of the food had gone up and its good now. I am talking about the buffet. Varieties are good and seems value for money..
Forget the food, they are cheaters frauds when it comes to billing. They charge 5 Rs. extra if we choose to swipe our card (no one does that, there is no rule as such). This is a big scam. On questioning they reply that their boss is sitting in Saudi and these are his orders and decisions. They are looters guys. Do not go there. They also have no knowledge about mathematics. They add excess tax, vat,GST and say that the system has generated correct bill. If you ask them to calculate through calculator, they refuse. These goondas should be jailed and restaurant has to shut.
Worst experience I ever had in food as well as in service. I dont recommend it to anyone else.
Great place. Great food. The serving had enough quantities with good taste
Good and tasty food .With out affecting purse and stomach.
If u go to dhabba express I can assure u that u can get the worst quality of food in the world ..,😅 even street foods are better than this one.... I had food poisoning after eating from this hotel ...I please request u not to go to this hotel ...there are many good restaurants nearby to dhabba express ...
Horrible ambience. Guess they didnt even paint the wall from ages ...not clean ......look of it disappointed....pathetic food will never recommended such place. only the tandoori grill chicken was good they dont even know what is paneer tikka masala....panèer was served in a butter masalary gravy with little piece of capsicum. ..yakkay.
Veg options are good. Non-Veg 🍗 is stored for long. Meat color is dark/black. Avoid NV here
Well delicious food there and healthy alsoFully north indian traidition
Food quality is good but service is very poor they not provide food properly
If you are damn hungry and also less with budget this place just might be a good option for the time being..!! Not Bad and not too great...!! Enough to fill your stomach..!!
Great food. Economic, happening environment. Service can be better, but food is very tasty.
One of the few available veg buffet restaurant. Can enjoy veg buffet (approx. 12 dishes)with less than 200 INR .Alakat is also available for both Veg and Non-Veg.Taste is average.Service is OK.Definitely try Mango lassi.Overall, value for the given money..
Really food taste is good. Here punjabi chicken masala and tandoori roti is very good. Restaurant is old but food taste is good.
I always have a bit of Nostalgia with Dhabba Express... I was..and still am a big fan of the unlimited jaelebis... I went for the lunch and was surprised to see the quality of the food dropping this low... Apart from Jaelebis, Breads and the Lassi I felt all 6 other dishes were just plain ok... The buffet now costs 180 per person and is a complete Veg fare... I would probably skip the buffet the next time around...
Went for ala carte lunch and they brought the order but no plate was given as if I am supposed to eat in the service bowl. Didnt get few things for starter even after asking..for ex black pepper etc. Could not even understand what was going on..I burnt my money..
Lassiz are mind blowing... Around 450 for one unlimited bouffe...Worth..But starters are too gud ..Hence stmch gets easily full
Lovely yummy place for Punjabi food. Also great place hosting party.
Daily high quality buffet in very reasonable price and wide menu on offer. Love it.
The place is closed permanently
You will get unlimited buffet @ 150 which is actually cheap. food items are okay. but not too great.
Very worst food looks like last night left over food keep next day
Very spacious and ambitious place and the food is good
I know this dining place from a long time and its great. The decorum inside is very good. It has been designed in a Punjabi dhaba style. Dining spaces are ample. Dhaba express is mostly famous for its Veg buffet at a reasonable price of INR 180. There is no non-veg buffet but you can order non-veg items separately on top of veg buffet. The menu changes everyday. I have seen many office people as well as bachelors walking into the place and enjoy the meals. I have seen corporates or teams of companies organising team lunch and team dinners. This place is heaven for North Indian foodies who want a good meal or want to full there stomach with good stuff at reasonable charge. There is ample parking space available for bikes & cars.
Good place to eat at nominal price ..for veg buffet
Food was good. Buffet was available.
Service is not good food is very good I love dhabba express so much....plz sub properly ok....
Good Vegetarian food.Buffet is the best serve you can have here.
Affordable place for lunch and dinner
Staff is helpfulThere is usually shortage of items or they will change the food items
Very good service and good food
Thali is amazing. They need work alot on alacarte
To the best of my knowledge, this is the only place in Chennai which offers a wide spread of buffet for such a cheap price. I have been visiting this place when the buffet was just Rs 70. Over the years , the cost has increased to Rs 180 (at the time of the review). The all you can eat vegetarian buffet consists of following. Indian Breads - 2 varieties, 2 gravies, 1 Dhall and sometimes a sambar too. They have always a variation in noodles along with a Chinese Manchurian gravy. You get a pulao or a vegetable biriyani along with raitha, salads and pickles. You have a Chinese dry or vegetable fritters, curd rice, plain rice ( dont miss rice with Dhall) and the final one is hot jilebi. The taste is decent and have wondered how they provide such a huge spread. If you want a soft on pocket buffet, this place is highly recommended. Buffet is available for lunch and dinner. They also have ala carte serving both vegetarian and non vegetarian dishes. Definitely value for money.
Every few months the cost of veg buffet keeps increasing while the food quality remains same. At one point ppl will stop stepping in as they see no value. Buffet was 150 and the place used to be quite crowded. Then GST came in and it became 150+ 18% gst.. ie 177 RS. When gst reduced to 5%, they changed the rate to 180 incl of everything. Today I see very few ppl over there.. Hope there is no further increase of rates
The quality has come down significantly than I visit last..the food service amibience nothing is like before.. High time of the managing people to give it a thought...
Affordable place for north Indian veg cuisine
Buffet is not available in ac. Only in non A/C room. Food is good
Its good hotel for north indians . Cheap and best
Loved the food and service. Buffet was awesome with a very cheap price.
Good veg food ..cost is reasonable..over all good dhabba
A very dark place, was scary, food was okay, we were the only people dining at this place. I believe this place is running only for online food delivery. Avoid unless you dont have an option
Value for Money esp. buffet dinner costs RS.180/- only.
Food were really good nice atmosphere here love it
I had Veg Buffet of ₹180 and its a decent deal 👍
