It was my 5th visit to this stadium and we normally go to watch cricket match. Every one in chennai knows this location and access to it is very easy by all public & private transports.Recently and in fact the stands I J K opened for audience just this year and I got to watch the 1st day of 2nd test between India vs England. The seats are comfortable for long time sitting and u can go around between these 3 stands if u got lower level tickets.Food is over priced. Dominos Pizza we tried was Rs.150 for veg/non-veg. Outside it is 90-100 rupees. No card or any digital payment service is available because the internet wont work in your mobile. No wifi either. Coffee is 20 rupees. Quality of the food is decent and it is purely your luck.Depends on the type of match, u will get 1 time re entry where u can use it to go outside for any work & can come back. I think it is available only in test matches. On 3rd day we got tickets in stand C. The chairs are movable in here which is quite uncomfortable at times. All the chairs are worn out and the stand will cost u 1000-1500 in IPL season. My suggestion keep this stand as last option. Here also u can go around between stands. There is no seat number as such and it is 1st come 1st serve basis.Only in AC boxes you are required to sit by seat number.Try for F, G, H, I, J, K. But upper stands are good in all the areas. There is no parking available for any vehicles and you will be required to park on the opposite lane at walajah road side to the stadium at your own risk. Generally the vehicles will be safe there but you never know. But in my experience I didnt faced any difficulty. At times, the local people will collect some parking charges and you got no option other than paying it.Prohibited items are helmets, backpacks, water bottles, food, any sticks except your walking stick, comb.Toilets are clean and there are people to maintain.

The stadium is named after the former President of BCCI and Tamil Nadu Cricket Association, MA Chidambaram. It was formerly known as Madras Cricket Club Ground. The ground was established in 1916, making it the oldest venue in India which is in continuous use. The stadium is more commonly known as Chepauk - the locality in which it is situated.Since 2008, the venue is home to Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. It hosted its first ever international game in 1934, a Test match between India and England, which the visitors won by 202 runs. The stadium has gone through several changes since then. The most notable ones being, the addition of floodlights in 1996 and the reconstruction in 2009 to accommodate more people and give state-of-art facility. The most fascinating thing about the ground is the crowd support. It is common knowledge that the Chepauk crowd is the most unbiased and the most knowledgeable crowd in the country. Saeed Anwar got a standing ovation when he made a record-breaking 194. When Pakistan won the 1999 Test, the team received good appreciation from the crowd. As mark of respect, the Pakistani team also took a lap of honour around the ground.Source - Cricbuzz

Expect nothing great as far as infrastructure is concerned. If you do, you are going to end up solely disappointed. The only novelty about this place would be the energised environment that you wont be able to experience anywhere. The feverish excitement combined with the joy of seeing all our favorite players just a few feet away in itself contributes to a fantastic overall experience. One thing that can be improved would be that the ticket sales could be made more transparent. It is nearly impossible to get tickets for any match held at the Chepauk stadium and combined with the fact that 3 huge stands are closed to the public makes matters even worse and encourages a lot of black ticket sales.

The pitch was not maintained to the international standard. T20 will be more interesting when you score more or chase a high target. In this season none of the team has scored a challenging target.About the ground,Watching IPL with the crowd was amazing and of course you cant expect comfort even if you pay 2500 per ticket. The seats are plastic and you cant sit for more than an hour. Beverages and snacks are overpriced and taste is not so good. Need to improve on these areas.Normally the audience wont make this as a issue because the area of interest is on the match than the sitting comfort and other issues. Most of the times you wont get a slot for parking your car. Moreover car will not be allowed in the nearby area.

Australia is the most successful team in ODI cricket history, winning more than 60 per cent of their matches,[14] with a record seven World Cup final appearances (1975, 1987, 1996, 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2015) and have won the World Cup a record five times: 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007 and 2015. Australia is the first (and only) team to appear in four consecutive World Cup finals (1996, 1999, 2003 and 2007), surpassing the old record of three consecutive World Cup appearances by the West Indies (1975, 1979 and 1983) and the first and only team to win 3 consecutive World Cups (1999, 2003 and 2007). The team was undefeated in 34 consecutive World Cup matches until the 2011 Cricket World Cup where Pakistan beat them by 4 wickets in the Group stage. It is also the second team to win a World Cup (2015) on home soil, after India (2011). Chepauk or rather the M A Chidambaram stadium is way past its absolutely unbearable days when it was literally a furnace. You would be dying to get out of the place because of the extreme humidity and heat inside. But the reconstruction of the stands has made it much better and makes for better viewing.Secondly, even the traffic police tell you can park wherever you want, but beware of them towing even when there is absolutely no warning against not parking. Make sure you park it in the beach or the presidency college, which are not very far away from the cheap stands. But more importantly, beware of these BookMyShow volunteers who dont do their job and ask you to go and sit in some random seat rather than the actual seat. Please insist to sit in the right seat, because some gullible people do think its ok to sit wherever they want. Then this leads to an unnecessary argument with the police and spoils your viewing experience.
