Located beside KFC outlet of Pondy bazaar. They have got an outdoor sitting facility which may be pleasant during dusk and evening. Staffs are courteous and helpful. Cooks are ever smiling and were more than happy to take us through the kitchen. Coming to food, personally found the dishes nothing exceptional. Taste wise average and have a slight underlying sweet current in mostly all of the dishes. Not disappointed, not happy though. Verdict- can be tried if its in bucket list, will not be a big miss if youre planning to skip.
Squid with rice recommended. Parotta is extremely good, tried Malaysian Parotta and onion Parotta. Got a chicken side dish and it was damn good. Squid had a very unique taste and was very tender. They have some signature noodles and rice which might not suit our taste. Very good quantity and quality. They had very good seating capacity and the waiters were very polite and good at helping to make decisions based on my preference. Will definitely go again :)
One of my favourite restaurants in town , especially when I crave for Seer Fish Head Curry ( Vanjaram Fish Head ) . It’s priced at Rs 600 approx for a full big head and is worth it . The Iced Milo is also a great hit as the Milo is directly imported from Malaysia . Overall experience is good and friendly staff.
Moderate taste. Parotta varaities were good. Side dishes average.
Very worst there are not capable to prepare North Indian dishes. Roti are hard and subchi are very mirchi .
Chennais option for good Malay cuisines @ T.Nagar. Good ambience and Nice taste for anyone who has a liking for Malaysian style food. A wholesome meal experience. Do not miss the Ice Kechong.
My favorite restaurant in with my husband Ivan Antony John whenever you we visit singara Chennai!
Loved it.. just loved it. Taste is still fresh in my mind. Highly recommended it. Staffs were very friendly. Big thumbs up.
Not a good ambience. The biriyani was good. The chicken gravy was awesome. The pelita special(chicken wings) is poor in taste. The strips are good. Fried rice was not good. You can taste for one time thats it.
Its been favourite place in Chennai for Malaysian food....for almost 5+ years. The place and taste makes me feel like sitting in a Malaysian food court.....excellent. And my favourite is Nasi Lemak.
I ordered Malaysian chicken biryani and Hyderabadi chicken, it was not worth it. The biryani tasted like the normal one we get in a takeaway restaurant for 100rs. Even the portion was less for the price they charged and the Hyderabadi chicken it was nothing like the one we get in other restaurants, no chicken pieces only some small boneless chunks of chicken. Ate it because we were super hungry and didnt have the strength to complain. The service was super slow, we had to wait for 30 minutes to be served people who came before us were served first or is it cause we are outsiders and not local.
Good taste foodWater bottle MRP price:10This restaurant water bottle price:13Three rupees extra 🙄
I never knew baby cockroaches were Malaysian cuisine delicacies until one day at Pelita.Found them on my childs chicken soup. No words to describe how disappointed I was for my child and very upset with my choice of venue for a family outing. No apology. No refund. No courtesy.I used to be a regular until this incident 3 years ago. Srinivasan the manager and the entire table service crew know me pretty well.. and in spite of that i am forced to write this. Why wait for 3 years for a negative review? I tried sharing this on yelp, zomato and other food review sites. They politely took my review down and sent me a mail that my review was negatively affecting the restaurant. Haha. And after my previous review gained over 1000 views I realized Google maps was a better way to create awareness. And if possible make Pelita amend its ways for better food handling practices and hygiene
The ambience and food is good, the food is served very quickly.. I had chicken soup which is really good with fresh chicken in it, 2nd chicken satay with a dip (the dip is really yummy and a good combo) , 3rd chicken murtabak which has a layer of parotta stuffed with omlet and chicken (worth for quantity), 4th plain parotta with mutton gravy (parotta is really excellent crispy)
If you are in chennai and need to taste authentic malaysian food go here
Food was nice especially parottah..The only disappointment was the ice tea, literally they put ice in a hot tea 😭 hope they figure out the original ice tea after seeing this post..✌🏻🤝🏻
Very nice place. I have never tried a Malaysian dish before and I had the nasi goreng it was really tasty and delicious
A decent place with a decent parking space. Indoor and outdoor dining . Food has been consistently good for a very long time. The fish curry meals is the best here. All the starters are amazing...Sparse vegetarian options, but can survive.Extremely friendly staff. They remember our preferences and always attend with a smile. All together an amazing, yet pocket friendly place.
Ive been dining here since 2003... Always left me wanting to come back for more... consistent tasty food... Unique cuisine complimenting our palate... The staff are extraordinarily friendly and proactive... Have been seeing the same set of people there since my first visit... feels good to know that!
Mannerless peoplePoor serviceWorst food & worst ambienceThey charged 2000 worth nothingStale food & terrible experienceHighly not recommended
Our all time favourite through many years. Always maintains the quality and taste.
Best Parotta ever!!! You can find some great dishes here 👌👌
Want something special other than regular indian, chinese ...This is a perfect place
An absolute Malaysian Cuisine. If u love the Asian (Malaysian) food you can definitely visit this place. They are soo good in it. I tried nasegoreng, chicken satay, mutton satay, honey chicken, squid fry and their parotta. The satay was soo yumm and soft, parotta should be must try and they are providing a complement gravy which was like dhalcha.. That was too good. For satay they are providing peanut honey sauce which tastes different (it was not a South Indian sauce) it was sweet and caramelized ✌🏼. Give a try to enjoy complete Malaysian Cuisine.I forgot to mention their squid fry, it was not deep fried, but crisp and clear. You will literally hear that crisp sound in each bite 😍😍
Very very nice food and service.squid fry and murthaba were really good in taste
Great placeNice tasteLoved keowteow gorengThe sauce for chicken satay was very tasty
Tasty, healthy food at a very reasonable price. Definitely recommended.
Tasty food. Good place to dine and talk.
Great food and ambiance...Good for family get-together....
Interesting restaurant that advertises its Malaysian cuisine, but does serve Indian food as well and the good ole veg thali !!!I tried their fish curry and rice with calamari (squid) and golden fried prawns.Fish curry was good and so was the squid. Wasnt thrilled with the prawns though. Will want to try out some other dishes next time Im in Chennai and in that area.Friendly and attentive staff.
Very excellent place for hygienic food... good response with employees. I love ice lemon tea.... having place for smoking guys.
I have never experience such lousy food. Waste of money.
Nowadays taste is lesser than the earlier days. Also Idiyappam with milk was very tasty, but they are not making it now. No proper response from the server even for water also, we have to wait for waiter to receive even water!
Felt like that we are in Malaysia, nasi goreng is not up to the mark but good
Good restaurant in the heart of T.Nagar. Speciality is Malaysian cuisine. Other cuisines also available. Wide variety of food items for the choosing. Ambience also excellent.
All the food variaties are unique also authentic taste..
This place serves the best Malaysian food in Chennai. It’s a chain restaurant, so the food is always good and tastes exactly the same everytime. Quick service, reasonable price 1200 for 2 people..... amazing taste.
The only place which sells authentic malaysian food with a variety of dishes varying from chicken satay to nasi lemak. Also the restaurant is not expensive and they give large quantity of food at a cheap rate. So if u want to eat real Malaysia food this is the goto place and my grandmother being Malaysian loves the food there
Authentic Malaysian cuisine. Been a customer for a very long time. Good service. A must try.
I ordered mee goreng . This is not mee goreng and I paid 280rs for this local noodles. Wasted my money . If u cant find mee kuning just remove this dish from your menu. it tasted very sour it is not supposed to taste like that .Expensive and not value for money.
Malaysian Banana porata good taste
To start with, The waiter was too kind, explained the menu very well and gave us honest suggestions. But the briyani yesterday was a disaster. Parathas were nice. Worth the visit.
I see misguided and overrated reviews in Google and Zomato. This place is below average and please skip this one if you looking for Malaysian cuisine.
There was a time, my work used to take me a lot to South East Asian countries. Malaysia has been one country where I have visited the most and remains my most favourite, partly because of the Malaysian Cuisine. As many who have experienced Malaysian Cuisine would know, it is a balanced blend of Malaysian, Chinese, Indian, and Indonesian influences.I used to long for Malaysian food when am back in Chennai, only until Nasi Kandar Pelita opened its doors. I know that they are a chain in Malaysia, but never bumped into them while in KL, but it is great that they decided to open a branch in India, in Chennai. While you can never do justice to their extensive menu (as much as around 200 dishes) in a few visits let me share some of the must trys and my personal favourites. On a side note, I still havent been able to do justice to the wonderful and authentic spread, yet.A must try on their menu, well is the Nasi Kandar itself, which is essentially rice with a choice of meat, fish or vegetarian gravy, with a stir fried side [mostly a wonderfully cooked ladysfinger], and a papad.Another Malaysian favourite would be the wide varieties of Roti Canai, A Malaysian style malabar parota. The must try would be the Roti Telor, the egg version and the Roti Pisang with Bananas. But my absolute favourites would be the authentic Malaysian Chicken Satay, Nasi Goreng Pattaya and the Iced Milo. The satay is a charcoal grilled Chicken skewer, served with a slightly sweet peanut sauce and salad sides. Each plate comes with 6 portions of Chicken on skewers, which is a shareable portion, but not for me. It is the perfect way to start a Malaysian meal. The main, Nasi Goreng is a simple, spicy Malaysian style fried rice. Nasi means rice in Malay (or is it in Indonesian), and Goreng means fried. It is a nice flavourful, sweet and spicy fried rice with meat and veggies. Now to top it all, the Nasi Goreng Pattaya is the king, where the Nasi Goreng is nicely and neatly wrapped in an egg omelette pocket. It has always been an absolute pleasure to tear open the omelette and unearth the steaming hot fried rice. This dish has so much drama to it, you can only experience it, no description or pictures can compare to the actual act of tearing open the omelette and savour the delicious fried rice.Insiders tip, make sure you take a sneak peek into the open kitchen to watch your Nasi Goreng sliding onto its Omelette parcel. Now for some [NOT ME], the Malaysian dishes could be a little too spicy to handle and that is where the Iced Milo comes into picture. It is the simple Milo mixed with hot water, and a handful of ice cubes thrown in. It is a cold drink and it is a perfect thirst quencher on a sunny day.For dessert, I would recommend an Ais kacang, the Malaysian version of a ice gola. But I must say it may not be everybodys favourite.Quick Summary - Authentic Malaysian cuisine, swiftly served in a rustic Malaysian cafe style setting, Nasi Kandar Pelita is a Little Malaysia in Big ChennaiEven now, I try squeezing in a culinary visit to Nasi Kandar Pelita during my 2-day short trips to Chennai.
Good place to have Malaysian dishes
Good Malaysian restaurant in Chennai.
Been here in 2018. As a Malaysian, I approve of this branch.
Mostly you would found only Indian dishes. Taste was Good. Ambience was ok.
THE FOOD QUALITY HAS REALLY GONE HAYWIRE.THEY NEED TO PULL UP THE SOCKS AND WORK OF QUALITY AND FOOD TASTE !!!
My All Time Favourite Restaurant.Have been a customer since 2004,Everything Tastes the Same till now. Great Customer Service Always. Price is also very fair for the quality and quantity. Love this Place ♥️🙏🏻👍🏻👏🏻
Really amazing place to try out some authentic Malaysian cuisine. The staff are very friendly and advised us regarding the portions to be ordered. The mutton-leg soup (aatukaal soup) was very thick and tasty. Make sure to try their parottas which is their specialty along with any curry. For anyone who would like to have some adventure, try out the Guccang dessert which tasted different and nice.
A nice clean restaurant with great well priced food. After living in Malaysia for years and visiting this chain so much it was amazing to see this restaurant in Chennai also.
Food taste not up to the mark, lack of hygiene, service person was bad. Not interested to go again.
Great restaurant.. authentic Malaysian food. But it lacks the traditional buffet system that nasi kandar pelita in Malaysia has.
Food was tasty. Banana parrata is the famous one here to try
Super malaysian food, unique combination of chinese, malay and indian cuisines
I got a shocking experience of eating in a restaurant which otherwise looked somewhat decent.I visited the restaurant with my family and ordered two basic chicken dishes with Parota and steam rice. However, after waiting for 20-25 minutes they supplied us only Parota, rice with some potatoes gravy. On asking, where are chicken dishes they said - it is coming. We sent steam rice back as it will get cold. Now, despite waiting for another 20 minutes chicken dishes didnt appear. On requesting the waiter to expedite our order, he again brought steam rice but, without chicken dishes.By this I lost my cool and went to the manager, who said there is some problem with gas .... On asking why he supplied half or incorrect menu, he didnt have any answer. Pathetic service. On this I canceled my order and left the restaurant.
Awesome Mutton paratha👍👍👍
Just had a coffee only !
Good Malaysian dishes!! For a change plz try over here
Best Malaysian Restaurant in Chennai. Great quality food at a fair price.
If you are looking for some authentic malaysian cusine this is the place. Start with a bowl of Sup Kambing and a plate of Ayam Murtabak.
Malaysian style good taste
If you want to try some different kind of food, something more asian - specifically Malaysian .. this is a great place. I recommend the Nasi Kandar menu .. best price, and quality are their speciality. You should also try Malaysian style side dishes & noodles. Friendly atmosphere and outdoor dining availability makes this place a memorable one at Pondy Bazaar.
One of the best restaurants in chennai and food is affordable and delicious.
