Completely unexpected!!! I really felt the vibe of having a meal in a traditional mess with traditional taste. They serve authentic meal with great taste and quality. Cost of a lunch meal is just 85 rupees and I will suggest to go for that dhal and ghee which they offer with an extra 5 rupees. Completely satisfied and looking forward to have a meal again. This review is based on the lunch meal that I had recently. However I dont know how the other meals are served (Breakfast and Dinner meal)

Rs. 80 for limited meals with ghee and curd for another rs.30.Is the food worth it? Yes..feels and tastes like homemade food. Very limited option but thats all u need and u never leave hungry. Try the rasam and vathakuzahmbu especially with curd rice.Overall-a very nice place to try and feel the old madras. Btw just 10 mins from Marina beach and that further adds to the experience....give it a try.

A nice vegetarian mess those who are looking for Normal vegetarian meals with normal rate in Chennai, the hotel was located in Ellis road, the dhal rice with ghee tastes nice, the sambar tastes good while other dishes tastes normal, usually there will be a queue and one need to wait for some time during lunch hours, the food will be served like serving in marriage hall.

U cant directly go visit and have food.U have to go pay and they ll be giving tokens (with seat numbers printed in it).White token and Yellow token.Then u have to wait outside for them to call.19 seats alloted for white token and 19 seats alloted for yellow token.So they ll be calling batch by batch.If urs is yellow token and the previous batch had completed the food having it, person from hotel ll come outside and call u like, All yellow token guys , pls come inside.So this is the time when u have to go inside and sit in the seat number alloted to u as per the token.They ll serve food un banyan leaf.And one bowl full of rice. Right now in c19 situation glad they hav opened up and have attempted to redefine themselves. Good to see that social distancing is practiced and tables have been reduced to 8 in row. So with 4 rows now 32 people can dine at any point of time. Food and service is just as awesome as it was prior to the lockdown. And lastly the crowds are back. Hope some crowd management techniques are put in place.

The meals here cost Rs.70 extra curd is 10 rs. Dal powder and ghee is Rs.5 so you need to buy a token and wait for your turn. Its better if you go there 15-20 minutes ahead and not when you just wanna go and eat you wont get the tables nor you can buy the token. Prepare to wait for 30 minutes before you can get the table to eat. Tastes like home made food.
