Benjarong has been serving Tasty Thai Food in Chennai for quite some time... Me and a friend decided to do am impromptu Lunch Meet and this was our favoured Choice...Benjarong has been one of my preferred restaurant for Thai Food... We settled down and ordered Tom Kha Soup, Red Curry Chicken with Jasmine Rice and Thai Basil Fried Rice... We also ordered a couple of Drinks..We were served the welcome platter which as usual was tasty and the sauce is to die for... The TomKha Soup was excellent with the lemon grass cutting through the coconut milk and the chilli oil giving it a nice punch... One of the best soups in town...Then came the Main Course... The Red Curry Chicken with the Bamboo shoots brought back some great memories from Thailand... The Curry was an absolute delight... The Jasmine Rice was underwhelming and it felt that it was overcooked and a little mush...The Thai Basil Fried Rice had all the right notes... It was laced with fresh basil and the crunchy veggies added an extra crunch to it... It went really well with the curry and the chillies brought a nice heat to the mix...The 2 mocktails were good... I was so excited to try their fried Bannana dessert alas sadly it wasnt available... We were already full with the scrumptious Lunch so we decided to not have the Dessert...With Covid and lockdown wiping out many businesses... Im glad that some of them are still maintaining the place with the same taste and quality as before... This place leaves a bigger dent in your wallet but the food will leave you wanting for more...I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to try out Thai Food... They have an array of dishes to cater every ones needs...My Rating - 8/10.... A Must Try Thai Place in Chennai...

Benjarong - Best place in chennai to have authentic thai food. There are only few places which you can trust to have great thai cuisine. This is the best !! Starting from tom yum soup to pad thai and finishing with fried icecream. The food quality was top notch. I would recommended this as must try place in chennai. The dishes are quite expensive but worth the penny.

Place was neat & authentic, but many guests did not enjoy the food since they were first timers and bearers did not spend time in explaining the cuisine. Sea food platter came in parts, Tom yom chicken soup had too much mushrooms, spring roll had nothing but cabbage, shell crab too crispy. We liked the chicken rolled in leaf though it was not the leg piece as we guessed, red curry was good. Too expensive for the portion size.

If you are in Chennai and want to try good authentic food then Benjarong is the place. Its an authentic thai food available and its tagged by ministry of thai as an authentic thai restaurant. I tried all vegetarian items and must say that they are delicious. Clear soup with glass noodles is epic along with mushroom buttons as an appetiser. In the main course thai rice noodles along with spicy stir fried vegetables is a must. Don’t forget to have pumpkin pudding with coconut ice cream.Aah i forgot to share you are welcomed with basil leaves and an assorted plate of ground nuts, chilli, coconut flakes, ginger, sweet chutney and u put a small quantity of all like a paan eating style and enjoy the food.Plz visit and enjoy the food to the fullest!!!

Beautiful ambience and awesome service. The food is also quite good here. The lemon grass essence is there in almost every dish too. An overall authentic Thai experience with emphasis on a LOT of Lemon grass😅.Oh and before the meals arrive a Miang Kham (a large platter with a lot of toppings and some leaves are given). Slather some of the sweet sauce on the leaf and add all the toppings on the leaf and dump it right in your mouth! Adjust the ingredients in your second try and DONT miss out on it!!!

Absolutely delicious food.If you like thai food, look no beyond.Well maintained, crisp interiors with oriental thai/Chinese music in the background.Friendly staff who help you choose the dishes and explain whats what. The small starter/ appetizer which is complimentary is delicious and so refreshing and helps you kill time without having to wait desperately for the food to arrive.Narrow choices but healthy and mouth watering desserts.Since its located on a busy road, parking could be difficult but they help you with it.Freaking expensive but give the quality of the food, still considerable.

This was the first time I had vsisted a Thai restaurant . The menu was Greek and Roman to me , but the staff was cordial enough to explain the menu and aided in choosing the dishes . The taste was extraordinary. The atmosphere was pristine . On the whole if you want to experience authentic Thai taste, I would recommend this place

Being suggested from a FB friend , went to Benjarong , Alwarpet for my 5th anniversary. Even though set meal wasnt available during weekends , the chef Mr.Ramkumar was kind enough to provide us a veg set meal . It all started with a Thai starter kit with all peanuts ,chillies , sweet sauce , lemon etc which was pleasent. We were given a Tom yum soup which was spicy and tasty .Starters were cottage cheese tofu and baby corn fry coupled with papad which was yummy . We had three plates of it and tasted great . For the main course we had veg Thai noodles and green curry . The noodles was good and no negatives . The only dish which I dint like was the green Thai curry which was below average . I had tasted a better Thai curry even in an road side eatery .Then comes the yummiest part. Chestnut milk dessert was the tastiest thing I ever had . We had two cups of it . Overall except for green curry all other dishes tasted great . They could have added one more starters and main course to the menu but no negatives for it . We were charged 750 bucks per plate and thoroughly enjoyed the meal . Tks to my FB friend and cook Mr.Ramkumar who made our day .

The welcome condiments include ginger, nuts , greens and green tea in kettle which is supposed to increase he metabolism and aids in smooth digestion. The quantity is enough for two person. I would say Benjarong was the pioneer of Thai food in Chennai. I visited the restaurant for the second time and here’s what I had.DrinkVietnamese iced coffee—your cold coffee with a twist. The coffee is extremely cold. Almost three fourth of a tall glass filled with ice cubes. The coffee is extracted from corse ground roasted Vietnamese coffee bean mixed with boiling hot water, which is collected in a drip filter. The coffee is mixed with sweetened condensed milk and poured over the ice cubes. 😇 Chennai definitely needs this!SaladPla tod yum mamuang—crispy fish fillets served with tangy and sweet raw mango salad. The fish fillets are deep fried in oil and taste of the seafood, so you must eat this with the salad. Crispy fish and crunchy salad are a great combination.Yum hed hoo noo—black fungus (mushrooms) and bean curd served mixed with spicy chilli dressing, mint and kaffir lime leaves.Grill Platter with sriracha and peanut sauceTofu grilled with Chilli garlic paste—huge chunks of tofu marinated with chili garlic paste and grilled. When you marinate and grill a tofu the skin gets crispier and it still remains soft on the inside.Squid grilled with Red chilli paste—squid marinated with red chilli paste and grilled. The taste of the fresh seafood with the marination and the smokey flavour from the grilling, all these flavours are a perfect balance and complement each other!Chicken grilled with Green chilli paste—pieces of chicken are marinated with green chilli paste and lime and grilled to perfection.SteamPla nung tom yum—whole fish steamed with tom yum sauce. You bite into the freshness of the fish (literally melts in your mouth) and the freshness of the sauce (mostly chilli and lime).Main CourseGai Pahad Bai Horapa—boneless pieces of chicken and pokchoy stir fried with Thai red chillies and sweet basil sauce. This is am extremely simple dish traditionally made with oyster sauce, fish sauce, vegetable oil, fresh Thai basil, chopped red chillies, salt and Thai pepper powder!Mee gati—chicken in rice vermicelli noodles cooked with basil and red chillies. Vermicelli noodles aka rice noodles is something that can help us put a stop to maida! And the rice noodles soaks up all the flavours from the meat and sauce, making it extremely difficult to stop eating.Khao Pahad Rua Mitr Talay—mixed seafood cooked with vegetables, fresh basil leaves and sticky rice. The rice is fragrant in nature and this fragrance is enhanced when mixed with the other ingredients.DessertTub Tim Gorb—we ended our meal with the traditional dessert, water chestnuts rubies in sweetened coconut milk.

This place is like the rent that the Weasleys used in the movie Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire. From the outside it jude looks like a familiar house but in the inside the place is so well decorated and spacious with such a fragrant lemon scent that welcomes you.The staff is really friendly and they provide you with a starter while you decide on your order. Dont feel ashamed to ask how to pronounce the name of the various dished or for that matter, how to consume them as they will teach you the bdst way to devour the dish. Also, they serve you with paper plastic and also, a common bathroom that is neat and tidy with a huge mirror. It will be comforting to know that you are in the presence of woke people. The food is exquisite from the starter to the cocktails but the price might seem a tad bit too high if you are a college student. Totally worth it though!Hope you have a great time there!😊🙏

I have been frequenting this place for about 8 to 10 years for its food. The last when i went in jan 2021, the place looked worn out. Cockroaches on walls. The best part is that the crown in the showcase was totally broken and they had done a poor job of plastering it with tape. The service room which is frequently opened and closed had greasy switches. Food is still good but makes me now wonder about the kitchen hygiene and cleanliness .

Benjarong, one of my favorite restaurants (for Thai cuisine) in Chennai has introduced Flavour of Vietnam - Vietnamese Food Festival from 10/Aug/18 till 25/Aug/18. Chef Ramkumar has brought Chef Nguyen Thi Nho from Vietnam to make it special in all aspects; be it taste, flavor, texture, presentation..Excellent. Started off with Vietnamese Iced coffee with milk, Passion fruit juice and Fresh jamun juice with lemon. The fresh jamun juice and iced coffee were so good, that we had to order for second round before closing the dinner:). The soups Pho Ga (Chicken noodle soup) and Pho Bo (Beef noodle soup)...outstanding..straight out of some Vietnamese pot. The appetizers were something to remember - Charcoal grilled shrimp mousse on sugar cane (wow!), Vietnamese fresh shrimp spring rolls, Five spiced Vietnamese grilled fish, Deep fried chicken spring rolls with mix herb were awesome and reminded me of my stay in Ho Chi Minh. The main course was Vietnamese Chicken Curry with coconut gravy, Whole hamour steamed with soybean sauce, Vietnamese fried rice with lotus seeds baked in lotus leaf...were so good.. The desserts Mung bean cake and baked banana served with vanilla ice cream, Handmade jelly tofu with ginger sweet gruel...hmmm.... The highlight is some of the key ingredients, were sytraight from Vietnam, to make it even more authentic and special. Totally a super outing to explore authentic Vietnamese food.

Benjarong, one of my favorite restaurants in Chennai has introduced Sea Food Festival on 28th Jan till 14th Feb 2018. Unlike normal times, this season, first thing that will catch your attention is the array of sea food display at the lounge! You can pick your Fish, Crab, Lobsters a..n..d...you can select from a list of sauces and the kind of cooking you prefer:- steamed, fried or gravy! Wow..! Total delight:). What I like about that place is the authenticity in their cuisine. Like any food enthusiast, drooled over their menu and got to indulge in some of their best Hamour Steamed Fish, Mud Crab Coconut Gravy with steamed rice, Sole Fish crispy fried - from the festival menu. Could not resist their classic items like Tom Yum soup, Som tam Thai (yummy raw pappaya salad), Pandan leaf chicken, Pad Thai Noodles and closing note with Water Chestnut Dessert, not leaving the jasmine tea:). Special note of thanks to Chef Ramkumar for his effort!
