Vaccination center at Ripon Building is worse hospitality. They will give lethargic responses. Nurses doesnt look like trained nurses.
Oh-so-pretty Ripon Building. ❤️The Ripon Building is the seat and headquarters of the Greater Chennai Corporation in Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It is an example of neoclassical architecture, a combination of Ionic and Corinthian styles. The Ripon Building is an all-white structure and is located near the chennai Central station.
Ripon building is named in the memory of Lord Ripon, one of the Governor General of British India. This is one of the historical buildings in India. This place os very well maintaing by Tamilnadu government and building was maintained in best and clean way. And connectivity also best for this place because it is very near to Central railway and metro station, Park railway station and within 1km to Egmore railway station. And near to Rajiv Gandhi Government Hospital bus stop. Main attraction of this place is architecture of the building it is mixture of British and Indian architect style.
The British architecture has its own magic. What I would like to add along with all reviews is I suggest everyone to go around the area, the nearby roads outside the building. You would be amazed to see early 1900s buildings still standing! It takes you to an era where one can imagine how would 1900s be like. Some old buildings have been converted to shops with same architecture.
This magnificent little white building is monument to many glories in the history of India and Chennai, it is the headquarters of the first Municipal corporation of the world, long before American cities were even born. Not built of marble like Taj Mahal but the building has somehow achieved similar perfection and beauty as it is and has preserved it for centuries. For an unassuming Building, the history and background and importance are greatly impressive.
Commissioned in the year 1913, Ripon Building was designed by G.T.S. Harris. It was built by Loganatha Mudaliar, and took four years to build at a cost of 750,000, including a sum of 550,000 paid to Mudaliar.[citation needed] The Ripon building was named after Lord Ripon, Governor-General of British India and the Father of local self-government. Earl of Minto, the then Viceroy and Governor General of India laid the foundation on 12 December 1909. The Municipal Corporation of Madras, after functioning from several other places including Errabalu Chetty Street, settled at Ripon building in 1913, with P. L. Moore as the President of the Municipal Corporation at the time of the inauguration. The inaugural function was attended by over 3,000 of the citys elite.
Although a historic monument of colonial Indo-Saracenic architecture, this place is not a tourist attraction as it currently serves as a government office. Tourists can only view the building from outside.Located beside the busy central railway station and is not worth the effort of going there and only visit the building from outside.
Beautiful pre independence ambience still maintained in the architecture. Nice place to visit
Known for its impressive Roman style of architecture, Ripon building beholds everyone’s attention with its sparkling white structure. Named after Lord Ripon, the then Governor-General of British India, it is located on the Raja Muthiah Road, Periyamet. It opens from 10 in morning to 6 in the evening so you can visit Ripon Building at any time of the week, except Sundays and Saturdays. One of the attractive features of this building is the Westminster Quarter chiming clock.
Ripon building was built in British period located near Chennai Central Station. This full white coloured building is one of the architectural masterpiece. Now it is used as Corporation office of Chennai - one of the most important politically centred office to show the power of their parties.
This is head quater for Greater chennai Corporation. First local government building in India built by Lord Ripon .The clock tower and the Bell system in this building was brought from UK. Good natural ventilated building. I was maintaining this building between 1998 to 2006 as Electrical Engineer.
One of the most beautiful architectural buildings and my favourite place for photography!!
Boasting neoclassical architecture, this majestic building is all-white. As the seat of the Greater Chennai Corporation, it is among the famous places in Chennai. Out look of Ripon building is good
Historical building and maintained well by GCC
Entry restricted. Good architecture
I have been loitering to get my birth certificate from Ripon buildings for the past 12 months in spite of submission of original birth certificate issued by the Rainy hospital chennai and affidavit from Notary public. Yesterday they demanded some more certificates which they didnt demand earlier. All are fully corrupted and expect heavy corruption. But I have decided to get Notary public certificate to fulfill my requirement.
Oldest building in the city 👌❤️
Greater Chennai corporation building. Its a government office.
Love those structures and building architect
Majestic structure build by Englishmen....one of the finnest British architech...only disappointment is we dont know even photos/videos are allowed inside this building..since its a active govt office we cannot speak with anyone as only few public who enters this building which is for official purpose..there is nobody even to say photos are allowed or not
Constructed very long back and came to use. This was built in British period and now under control of Tamilnadu government. Now the Chennai Metro Politan city Corporation office is located here. The view of this building will look so good from outside. This one of the landmarks of Chennai city. The maintenance has to be improved.
Nice old building
Calm and peace place to visit
A beautiful monument
Unexpectedly, the staffs are very helpful. They are eager to help. All we need is a little patience. The middle men will approach you when you roam around. They will tell u that they can do impossible things. Ignore them. You can do everything by yourself by directly speaking with the staff. And the building architecture is something to see.
It was constructed at a time of British period.. now it has been under tamilnadu government were all the corporation work done here..
The place was clean and tidy. The floors were freshly mopped. The AC auditorium was big enough to accommodate three hundred people. The building had nice ventilation system. Had parking areas for vehicles. The toilets were clean. Didnt go through a lot. But, overall it was well maintained.
One single word wow.. Quantity is less when compared to price..
