B.M. Birla Planetarium was an exclent exprience. There were many amusing things to play with and intersting facts to learn. This particlur visit was not only wonderful but also eductional. The thing that I liked the most was the Planetarium show. It was wondeful but the 3D theater was not that amusing, in fact it was boring. And it seems that they are in the middle of remoduling and cleaning after Covid, Im looking forward to visiting it one more time after the maintenance are done.

The Show in dome theatre on planets was amazing. It amazes not only kids. 3d show needs a serious update as it has very old animation videos which were good when 3d movies are rare. Last show on sphere was different and good. Needs a complete day to cover all with kids. Few of the items on display are not working or elements missing needs to be looked. This is a must visit place for kids and space enthusiasts.

This place is good for kids. The first show was awesome with good explanation. They also have science museum in which they have collections of transportation, IQ games etc.Children can spend 3 to 4 hours there maximum. The 3D show is the worst here. Also, the restroom facility is not good. The good part is they have variety of out door games like swing, slider etc for the kids. Totally not too good, not too bad.

Very informative and educative place. Nice place to bring family and kids, especially those who all are interested in knowing more about solar system, evolution, science and maths related topics. The place accepts only cash in the ticket counter which l found as a drawback, as we were not having liquid cash in hand. So we had to search a nearby atm, that too outside the campus. Apart from that the place is really good. All should visit the place. Thankyou guys.

After the latest lockdown restrictions are lifted off. This Place is opened for public visit ... Open at 10 am - 5.45 pm .. The sky show is excellent as always. 3D theater is not up to mark 3 out of 5 . Kids have lot of fun in both physical and as well as knowledge... The play area must be cleaned properly lots of snails in kids playing area.. Few Playing rides are rusted... Parents must be aware while kids are playing. A Locker should be arranged before entering sky show not every time we can be sure our belongings would be safe or not in the outside or minimal token system for belongings should be provided for safety precautions.. Minimum 2 hrs needed to see the whole area.. Specific time is alloted for Tamil language English language for sky show.. According to your preference you can get the tickets .. Ticket fare is nominal..

Planetarium solar system showing theatre renovated, it very good and maintained perfectly. 3D shows need to upgrade with latest technology. Others place also upgraded and fully ac. The BM Birla Planetarium is not just a Planetarium and more like a science theme park/exhibition. The place is easily accessible and is well connected to rest of the city. The entry fee is nominal (rs 60 for the whole package). At the time of writing this review, the planetarium is being renovated. The science park is not at all maintained well and the 3D show is a joke. The nuclear energy/power exhibition room is nice.

Timings 10: 30 a.m to 5: 15 pmEvery half an hour.Alternative language-Tamil and EnglishOne of a must place to visit for kids to learn about our planets. There is also some fun activity before you get to the show. The main theatres is going under renovation so, they have created a mini Hall near the museum. There also some fun science activities around like the magic mirror, under the oceans..Even though it belongs to Chennai you feel proud about it, the planetarium can be maintained better. The staffs are very courteous and kind. The security guards acts like your guide and helps you around the equipments.People sneak in snacks for the 30 mins show can be avoided. The same Content is played over the years. Even though the effect is good, can be better to attract the New Gen.A 3D show is played after the main show, with a funny dinosaur and a roller coaster ride. Even though we are used to plenty of visually expensive 3D movies. This was actually fun. A little amateur but kind of funny and feel good. They also have a park around the planetarium for the kids. They close sharp at 6pm. So you are not allowed even for a minute longer after 6..

Recently visited the place. Wasnt able to get a ticket to watch their planets show since we visited during a weekend. Go there during weekdays if you want to see the shows. Big parks are there inside. Eco park, dinosaurs park, evolution zone are different but needs care and maintenance. If you are visiting after 4 then you might want to take along some mosquito repellents with you.. Scientific park is where we really felt so good. All the things made for playing is so different from normal parks.

I visited thus place in First Week of January under My Mission Explore Awesome Chennai and here is the detailed review:-1. Its location is exactly as shown by Google Maps so easy accessibility.2. Ample space for Parking so no to worry just drive.3. Space is very neatly maintained and well managed.4. Coming to the main point i.e. the planetarium here one can feel by operating various sciencific instruments like. Gyro Sensor, Maritime exploration through galary etc5. They gave an emersive 3D show, although its a bit older but considering the price you pay its just much better.Main attraction of this place is the Galaxy Exploration, they will sail you through the Galaxy by audio visual wonderfully explained video. Its just awesome to see constellation and our solar system in this way. For childrens I dont think there is a better way to make them understand these complex systems. One must visit this place.Apart from these they have well managed science park & evolution park. But keep one thing in mind before you visit this place i.e. Have your stomach full or carry some eating stuff better to carry Tiffin with you as there is only one cafeteria which serves only snacks like chips, tea and packaged foods.

The B M Birla planetarium is housed inside the Science exhibition centre. The main planetarium is closed for renovations. Authorities have put up a temporary planetarium in another block of the centre. But here is the catch, the temporary structure has most probably become permanent (My personal observation, based on the condition of the chairs, this temporary structure is in place from quite some time.)For serious science lovers, place is to be avoided. If you want to take kids, avoid Sundays. The crowd will talk continually. Most of the parents explaining to kids, since the audio is neither clear nor in Indian accent. The audio is in American accent, making it impossible for kids to understand. If you are still going, try and take the centre chairs to enjoy the show with best views. Will post review for the Science and Tech centre seperately.

I had been to this place almost 20 years ago, and I remember it was such a lovely place. However it has gone down the drain now, and is absolutely appalling at the way it has been running. Either there is no fund for maintenance OR the funds are being misused. Most of the exhibits are broken. Some of the areas inside look very dusty and haunted. Some of the remains of the exhibits are either rusted, with sharp edges, open electric ends, or all of them together. The staff came across as being very rude, and clearly lacked any sign of hospitality. The place did not have the basic sign boards, which made it even worse. To top it all, the public areas inside the premises were being used as open toilets!!You have to see the photos to believe the state of this place. I really hope someone senior within the administration will see these photos and see the reality, take some responsibility to bring the place back to its glory days. It really was such an amazing place to begin with. It had so much knowledge to offer children. At the moment the place is such a SHAME to #INDIA and the #TAMILNADU GOVT!!
