Being a foodie I always wanted to try a family dosa for a very long time and unfortunately it just didnt happen for years.What could be more satisfying in doing that on your birthday Eve.It was like my wet begin to order with mini idli then mushroom 65 then I can happen to see family top of the menu card and hence had to order itThe server was like it is available but wouldnt recommend as you both cant eat it as its 5ft long but I was like hmm I have been preparing all my years for this so bring it on😜He recommended removing the other items and have this alone as he felt that we cant finish and would be wasting it but fortunately I manage to complete it.It was real tasty and definitely worth a try for 15.95£ as it came with sambar, white chutney, orange chutney and masala.All tasted really good.The only reason why am giving four star was for the service offered.No water unless requested for. No cup for water unless requested for.Service took a while to bring anything that we requested( understandable due to incoming crowd but definitely can be improved).I couldnt try any other items like bucket biriyani etc etc. Heard its worth trying though.So until next time ✌️

I dont understand why people have rated it so less. I had tried masala dosa, chana bhatura nd they have pretty big sized bhatura and dosa with very yummy masala and chutnies. I have tried dosa from other places in London too. This shop also makes very good dosas.

We went at 2 on a weekday. Meals or biryani was not available. Kids special was filled with oily noodles. Kothu parotta was not as expected. Overall ll not recommend. The servers mentioned the weekend foods ll be good. May be for people who want to try...

Terrible customer service. Other than dosa/ idly please dont order anything. One of the staff took wrong order and she was not ready to admit it was her mistake and when we told her to pack it, she offered a box to us to pack it ourselves and interestingly she didnt shown up for service at our table after that. No jug or napkins in the table or offered and when asked for jug of water no glass was given. Really felt upset to spend an hour and money there.

So disgusting place I see in many years , very dirty every where , looks never clean , offered cups and plats also so covered with finger prints and dirt, toilets are unexplainably bad, we could not eat the food we ordered fell sick , but food are expensive too , we ask for baby high chair and got offered seat that also so disgusting , hope this place closed down soon

I have work 3 years experience in south Asian restaurant. I dont recommended this place people go to for good food I ordered mutton buriyani see that piece of mutton, its just bones and fully rise and the buriyani taste not good I ask that waiter he said you lucky you good more mutton as than usual. I dont even touch the food but I paid full food price...

The food quality is quite pathetic. I have got a plastic cable tie in biryani, which I almost swallowed. I wont even give one star.

Best South Indian in Birmingham, tastes good, friendly staff, takeaway only due to the COVID rules.Hard to find a parking, also the road was very busy.

Both Food and Service were great. Love to visit again when we are in Birmingham. Only downside is finding a parking space nearby the restaurant.

Terrible. The staff dont know what they are doing, had to ask for plates, cutlery, napkins and when I requested a jug of water they brought water but no cups so had to request cups also. They forgot one persons order so they had to sit and watch us eat untill we asked them where the food is and they they added it to the order (and gave us a different price off the bill than was originally quoted). The starters are an absolute rip off, do not pay for them! The mains are ok, mutton biriyani included 4 big pieces of lamb- had to ask for a knife to cut them up. I would only get the dosas here as everything else isnt worth it. The Chana portion was too small for the huge bhatura. The biriyani tasted ok but having to request a knife to cut the meat so that it can fit in your mouth is strange.

Absolutely appalling and pathetic service...Went with family after pre-booking a table and with prior notice, placed the order and despite repeated requests, s not served to at least an hour and a half later.When the food was served eventually, it was still very chaotic, forgot to bring the orders to we reminded them.Plates and glasses were dirty; had to drink out of disposable cups.Wouldnt be going back... Was warned TBF.

Never order from Chennai Dosa from Uber eats or any other food delivery app. They never serve the complete order and youll always find few items missing. However if you speak with the Uber driver, they will confirm that they have delivered everything they received from Chennai Dosa. If u call Chennai Dosa, they will not take any responsibility. Finally Uber refunds you credits. This has happened 2-3 times in a row now and its a complete scam ! Beware !

Tasty, real south Indian dishes but prices are high.

A little disappointed with my visit this time. The dosa was thin and crispy just as I like it, but what let it down was the masala filling and the sambar. Not enough seasoning and sambar underwhelming in flavour. Staff can do with some training focussing on service too.Hopefully better next time!

Ordered 40 pound worth foo, however, the restaurant didnt ring me up about the prep time and when the food was ready. When I tried to call them no-one picked-up the phone. I reached there after couple of hours, to see my food lying in the counter to be picked-up cold I order Masala Dosa which should be eaten while hot..!) and when asked they give random excuses. Poor customer service and communication. I am a regular customer still this behaviour so you can image the rest..!

Sorry but very bad service. Waited for nearly 45 mins for the dosa. It was my first time but had to cancel my order and leave since our food did not arrive for 45 mins after ordering. When we asked they said that you ordered for the mains dosa which would be made and served after buffet time. They didnt even bother to inform us about this earlier so that we could have ordered something else. Very very disappointed!!!!

Really disappointing, placed the order online at 12pm to save myself time hoping to collect it in 30 mins as stated on their website. However, the confirmation states food will be ready in 1 hours time. This isridiculous and to top it off no one was answering the landline for the first half an hour and when a lady answered and told her Id like to cancel my order she disconnected the call and when I tried to call again GUESS what no answer .

Hey we visit Chennai dosa and gave ordered dosa and after 15 minutes of wait when the lady was comin and said our chef was on break uh need to wait for him and finally they served us dosa and I just tasted it was disgusting 🤢 and there was no panner inside and one more thing the staff was not friendly enough and said we had new chef and he made dosas at the minute but I’m not happy with your food it’s like money wasted and time wasted at your place :( I’m never comin again place was too dirty.Except dosa nothing was fresh and I became sick the following day. Avoid at any cost. I would rate 0 if I had the option.

Great as always! The food is fresh and well cooked. We have been here few times now always enjoyed our visit. Staff are very polite and good. On this visit we came to know that they did pan as well and we were very delighted. Parking is tricky but you will find it around.

Hi there, I been here with my family, I had a worst experience, only 3 girls taking care of all tables at the busy Saturday evening including bills, service, cleaning, Take away pack ups, table orders and all other duties.They cant even provide spoons for dishes. Not providing water to any tables. I had ordered curd Vada inside Ifould a long hair then changed it very much discusting.They not accept card payments. Only cash. Dirty washing area. I never go back here in my life time.Average food taste. Reasonable price. Im not recommended any one

Chennai dosa in Birmingham on the market road is something you cannot miss. Authentic south Indian food which starts with a buffet for breakfast in the morning which doesnt have just dosa in it since they are known for it they havent included dosa in the buffet but it has other dishes like idly, pongal, sweet ,poori etc. The tea served there is something you should definitely try. Loved the masala tea ! The ambience of the shop is uplifted by multiple folds by the television which plays Tamil songs from the 90s which is a treat all the 90s kids . I was seriously lost in nostalgia hearing all those songs. The only let down for me was the guy in the counter who looked grumpy all the way and never cared to speak in his native language Tamil even after me speaking in Tamil. I hope he learns more about hospitality nd be more friendly towards the customer. There was a girl who also looks after the hotel who was warm and made me comfortable. A definite going you are missing the south Indian taste buds.

There were just 3 staffThey took order nearly after 15 minsOrder csme after nearly 20mins and that too lady didnt note down order properly still they charged us.. and the lady who took the order was really with too much attitude.. no apology nothing food taste was awesome.. at last order icecream was not there..yeah even between doing delivery orders too so really was disappointed with the service provided.

Restaurant level of dining served in a casual setting at casual prices.Not only a good selection of vegetarian dishes, but also a good range of meat and seafood choices. Also sells hot and cold south Indian beverages.Service very good too. Ive been on several occasions. Naturally some dishes Ive enjoyed more than others, but some are high on my list of favourite foods Ive tried. Eg the whitebait and the thin crispy dosa with mutton and mashed potatoe. Very decent desserts too. Prices are cheap to moderate. Unless you are from Chenai the food isnt your usual every day food.

Ordered food to be collected twice and both times theyve forgotten to give us something from our order but still charged us for everything. However, the tiffin sambar was great.

Poor service, staff have no manners. They need at least basic training on Restaurant services. No drinks been offered and not bothered to give it even we requested.

Thought Id try the place out, food was ok, bit greasy, but one staff member at the till was rude even though servers seemed ok. Not really keen on going back.

Food very tasty chicken chettinadu and mutton curry. Masala chai very pricy and very little in the small glass. Place is cash only a bit pricey but very delicious. Portions less generous.

It would be a miracle to get fresh food from this place; they are always serving stale food.

The veg items are good. In the starter they use same type of base masala for all the dishes. So what ever started you ordered it will be same taste.We tried the Family Dosa it is good big in size but they didn’t have potato masala in the Dosa.The Desert are good, but don’t try mojito their, it doesn’t have the punch init.

Anytime we have an Indian craving this is our go to place, lovely reminder of what we used to get from the mother land.In our latest visit we ordered a simple masala dosa and even though you couldnt eat in (Lockdown) they wrapped all the components together and just made it for me.Highly recommended if you want Indian vegetarian food.I wish Id taken a photo to place with this tree review.

I rate this place as somehow it always makes me feel like I am back in India. It tastes pretty authentic, it looks right, plenty of Indians go there and the dosas are big! Oh yes and its cheap. Theres a South Indian buffet breakfast on Sundays if you like idli and stuff like that. Im more a fan of the dosas which come with a wide range of fillings and different preparation styles. They all come with home made sambar, coconut and other chutneys. Some of the differences are a bit subtle but I suppose they are based on some regional differences or how some people might have prepared things at home.These things are so tasty I cant believe there isnt some kind of man vs food deal: eat 3 and well give you the fourth for free!

Worst experience in the UK for me, they not even taking care of customers. After giving the order, it takes almost 40min to get food for us.only two girls are taking care of complete things. Not even supplying proper way.

Today was the fifth time I visited this place and it was by far the worst visit.1) The waiter was reminded four times to bring out drinks2) I didnt even receive any water for the table 3) And lastly, the Gulab Jaman with the ice cream was mega sweet. Little tip dont serve the sugar syrup with the Gulab Jaman and ice cream. Also, the Gulab Jaman would have tasted nicer if it was served warm. The COVID situation shouldnt affect your food standards and customer service.

Very slow and unorganised. Only 2 waiter on the floor who also double up as cashier and cleaners. I seriously doubt if they are maintaining 2 meters distancing. Tried to book online as mentioned in their website. But in reality they dont respond when you book. People queing on the pavements. Been to this place many times in the past. Really HORRIBLE experience this time.Every restaurant is moving towards card payment, Chenni Dossa is still insisting on cash payment. Will think twice next time. Food is OK..

I have constantly ordered Mutton biryani from this restaurant, it tastes good but even after specifically mentioning in the note, they make it too spicy. Had also ordered Chicken lollipop which neither looked nor tasted like they should be authentically. Not a single starter from this restaurant is worth it.

Firstly we normally go to this restaurant roughly every 4 weeks and I normally don’t write reviews like this.....The service is very very poor. Genuinely hopeless.The chilli Moho and chilli mushrooms had no taste and a lot of oil, even comparing to there own previous standards. Asked to change, they just reheated and put green chillis in. My mother is vegetarian and was given a chicken dosa. They changed it but hers and my brother dosa arrived 30 mins after everyone else’s food. No apologies at all. Not to mention all pilot our stomachs very upset the following day.JOKE. honestly not worth it.
