Except the beautiful facade on the entrance side everything is closed for public as of Aug 29th 2021. Its not well maintained and left it for natural decay as nobody cares for it any more.

The main gate of the palace is generally locked and hence few people ever go inside. But if you ask the caretaker he is more than willing to open the gate and also act as your guide. The Taj Mahal palace was built by Sultan Shah Jahan, Begum of Bhopal as her residence. Its construction spanned over a period of 13 years, from 1871 to 1884. The building was originally named Raj Mahal. The British Resident at Bhopal, highly impressed with the architecture, suggested that the palace be renamed the Taj Mahal, the Taj Mahal at Agra having been built by the Begums namesake Shah Jahan. The begum accepted the suggestion and the palace was renamed as Taj Mahal. The Begum is said to have ordered a three-year-long celebration called Jashn-e-Taj Mahal after the completion of the building. The palace has been built in the Indo-Saracenic style and is kept cool by the winds blowing in from the lakes. The palace contains 120 rooms, a hall of mirrors or sheesh mahal and the savon bhadon pavilion, an elaborate fountain like structure that simulated the effect of rain.

Taj Mahal is a state heritage monument.Taj mahal is built by Shah Jahan begum 1884 it was earlier named Raj mahal then it was renamed by a british official. At the time of partion sindhi refugees used to live here. It is now under the Archeological Department and the palace is now closed only one can see it from the outside. It was one of the biggest among the palaces of that time. It has 120 rooms and one sheesh mahal inside it. Government is now planning to restore and convert it into a heritage hotel.

The guides are of looting nature here, like any other tourist places. But this is a big fort than a palace. Its in ruins, and that adds to the beauty. Its really good inside. Not to be missed is the hanging water garden, underground prison quarters, the lovely trees with white flowers for photography, the view of Asias second biggest Masjid across the Lake, the view of Bhopal city from topmost floor.Beware that the entrance is dirty, uninviting. Before this once-opulent palace is converted into a five star hotel, do visit it soon!

Very good and natural place. We play hereThe Taj Mahal at Bhopal was built as the Begums residence, at a cost of ₹ 3,000,000. Its construction spanned over a period of 13 years, from 1871 to 1884.[1] It was one of the largest palaces of the world built at that time.[2]The building was originally named Raj Mahal (royal palace). The British Resident at Bhopal, highly impressed with the architecture, suggested that the palace be renamed the Taj Mahal, the Taj Mahal at Agra having been built by the Begums namesake Shah Jahan. The begum accepted the suggestion and the palace was renamed to Taj Mahal.[3] The Begum is said to have ordered a three-year-long celebration called Jashn-e-Taj Mahal after the completion of the building.[1]After the partition of India in 1947, Nawab Hamidullah Khan allowed Sindhi refugees to stay in the palace. They stayed in Taj Mahal for around 4 years, before shifting to Bairagarh. The palace suffered some damage during this period.[1] After Indias independence, some members of the royal family of Bhopal stayed at the palace, but gradually moved away, as they had no money for the repairs. By 2008, large parts of the palace complex had collapsed.
