Except the beautiful facade on the entrance side everything is closed for public as of Aug 29th 2021. Its not well maintained and left it for natural decay as nobody cares for it any more.
The main gate of the palace is generally locked and hence few people ever go inside. But if you ask the caretaker he is more than willing to open the gate and also act as your guide. The Taj Mahal palace was built by Sultan Shah Jahan, Begum of Bhopal as her residence. Its construction spanned over a period of 13 years, from 1871 to 1884. The building was originally named Raj Mahal. The British Resident at Bhopal, highly impressed with the architecture, suggested that the palace be renamed the Taj Mahal, the Taj Mahal at Agra having been built by the Begums namesake Shah Jahan. The begum accepted the suggestion and the palace was renamed as Taj Mahal. The Begum is said to have ordered a three-year-long celebration called Jashn-e-Taj Mahal after the completion of the building. The palace has been built in the Indo-Saracenic style and is kept cool by the winds blowing in from the lakes. The palace contains 120 rooms, a hall of mirrors or sheesh mahal and the savon bhadon pavilion, an elaborate fountain like structure that simulated the effect of rain.
Its a wonderful historical place
What a marvelous monument . Get astonished at the vision at that time, the scale of the project and the master craftsmen involved. Its just mind blowing to see the thought being translated to into stone so beautifully. Kudos to ASI in its awesome upkeep
Heart of bhopal

Taj Mahal is a state heritage monument.Taj mahal is built by Shah Jahan begum 1884 it was earlier named Raj mahal then it was renamed by a british official. At the time of partion sindhi refugees used to live here. It is now under the Archeological Department and the palace is now closed only one can see it from the outside. It was one of the biggest among the palaces of that time. It has 120 rooms and one sheesh mahal inside it. Government is now planning to restore and convert it into a heritage hotel.
Superb
Not in good condition. If you want to visit, its better to take permission from MP Tourism otherwise you may not be allowed to enter. Better visit during before noon in summer to prevent heat.

My grand mother was also lived here since the begum ruler of bhopal India dynasty had given to some families resident floors. Its an historical beautifully crafted heritage building of bhopal mp India.
In dilapidated state but a. Beautiful building. There is no upkeep or many of any sort what o ever.
Very good place but dont allow me to get inside
Yes I visited there and really its a unique place of ancient Bhopal and was made during the Bhopals Nawab was alive.
What a treasure right in the heart of Bhopal. An ideal venue for a sound and light show on the history of Bhopal. Wish the Government wakes up and cleans up/repair the place
Its a good palace in ancient time but till now it is off only .
It reminds us of the romantic past grandeur under the Muslim rule.
A wonderful historical monument of Nawabi era. Must see the grace of the building (though dilapidated these days).
Condition is very critical not maintain proper
Palace itself is beautiful but you cant access or enter it. Under renovation for years but completion not in sight. Many medical facilities and hospitals around.
Its awesome an architectures delight and a symbol of a womens love for her abode
The guides are of looting nature here, like any other tourist places. But this is a big fort than a palace. Its in ruins, and that adds to the beauty. Its really good inside. Not to be missed is the hanging water garden, underground prison quarters, the lovely trees with white flowers for photography, the view of Asias second biggest Masjid across the Lake, the view of Bhopal city from topmost floor.Beware that the entrance is dirty, uninviting. Before this once-opulent palace is converted into a five star hotel, do visit it soon!
Great place but zero maintenance by state government.Gone Glory
One of the very old buildings of Bhopal, will give you a taste of the past where Bhopal was a princely state.

Very good and natural place. We play hereThe Taj Mahal at Bhopal was built as the Begums residence, at a cost of ₹ 3,000,000. Its construction spanned over a period of 13 years, from 1871 to 1884.[1] It was one of the largest palaces of the world built at that time.[2]The building was originally named Raj Mahal (royal palace). The British Resident at Bhopal, highly impressed with the architecture, suggested that the palace be renamed the Taj Mahal, the Taj Mahal at Agra having been built by the Begums namesake Shah Jahan. The begum accepted the suggestion and the palace was renamed to Taj Mahal.[3] The Begum is said to have ordered a three-year-long celebration called Jashn-e-Taj Mahal after the completion of the building.[1]After the partition of India in 1947, Nawab Hamidullah Khan allowed Sindhi refugees to stay in the palace. They stayed in Taj Mahal for around 4 years, before shifting to Bairagarh. The palace suffered some damage during this period.[1] After Indias independence, some members of the royal family of Bhopal stayed at the palace, but gradually moved away, as they had no money for the repairs. By 2008, large parts of the palace complex had collapsed.
