They use pure ghee in their food, no doubt. The puris are quite fluffy and they dont absorb too much oil. Kesari bath is amazing. Masala dosa felt a bit too overhyped. Granted, it is quite delicious, but not quite the best in the city in my opinion. Deducted 1 star for the price. Their prices could be a fair bit cheaper.
Food:Masala dosa - What fascinates me about MTR is the batter consistency of their dosas. The wow factor in their dosa is the distinct flavour which every dosa has. When it comes to masala dosa it is their crispy outer with the fluffy nucleus. The mild-spiced potato masala was very fillingGhee pudi dosa - A generous amount of ghee poured all over the dosa and a heavy rain of the spicy powder on top of it was like icing on dosa; super spicy, soft and with the chutney it was WHATTAWOWNeer dosa - Interesting dish made out of rice flour; flimsy and soft, had unique taste owing to the key rice ingredients; was served with sweet pooranam for the side. Initially was sceptical about the combination but a bite of the dosa with the sweet filling, it was ecstacyPoori - Blown up poori with mild oil content; came with potato chilli and is definitely worth trying onceKharabath - This is like a flavoured upma; had red spices with nuts all around, buttery and filling on the wholeButton Idli - Mini idlies dunked in sambar gravy; soak the idlies so that the flavours get better along every bite; not too spicy but had great lentil and masala tasteBadam Halwa - Oh wow, desserts just got better; the ultra rich and smooth halwa with kesar was JOY; so sweet with overflowing consistency of the gheeFilter coffee - Perfect end to any south-indian meal; rich in chicory, strong decoction leading to the best filter coffee out hereAmbience/Price:This place has great seating capacity since there was never a moment when we had to wait for our seats. The whole setup is well lit with good space all around. The service too was lightning quick with very less waiting time between sessions. One of the best pocket friendly veg places in BLR with so much to offer to people like us. Off-street parking would please many.
MTR is a somewhat of a emotion for Bangalore people. Their South Indian food is undoubtedly better than most places in town and food is a no nonsense good comfort food type. They serve ghee or butter with your dishes and they compliment each other really well. Their coffee is amazing as well. The masala dosa was excellent as well.
There is jot much options in menu for breakfast and the cost is very high. I do not prefer to have breakfast here. But, lunch is good with lots of variety.
Very good food ...we tried masala dose, it was super. We also tried besibede bhath and it was just amazing...we tried veg Sandwich it was decent. But here you should try south Indian only.. and if you have good appetite then go for unlimited meal. Its just awesome
Can be managed much better, waiting is OK but. Once u get table u need to wait again and for service wait again. After all this u wont get what u want 😜🤦♂️
Many south Indian options on a served buffet. The food quality has come down over the last few years though. It is situated in a prime location and street parking is also easy to find.
Amazing South Indian breakfast and good and real quick service. Highly recommended 🦋
Tried this place as i had heard a lot about the quality of food and service. Wasnt disappointed at all. Ghee dosa, vada and badaam halwa was amazing. 5 stars to the service as well.
Nothing great about the taste here and nothing praiseworthy about the (sloppy) service either, so I wonder what it is that this place gets the misleading 4-5 stars. All items are priced very high, so that teaspoon-quantity of ghee served, which gets mentioned in many reviews, better be pure ghee, I say. I have been here a few times, sometimes simply for a change and at other times on invitation from friends, and I have tried different items from the menu, so this feedback is not based on a single visit. During a recent visit on a weekend around lunchtime, the place was overcrowded like a busy bus terminus. Absolutely no social distancing was either enforced or observed, and that was a shocking sight.
I had a normal Masala dosa ,which was pretty amazing.I think they could do better with Tea.
Excellent ambience & too tasty food...one must try the south indian thali of MTR
This place used to be good 2 years back, but now the quality is horrible. The chutney and sambhar is very bad.
A must visit hotel for break-fast, lunch, dinner and other tasty dishes. I like it when time permits
Authentic and sentimental. This place has a minimalist menu but the magic happens with taste and traditions blending and binding and bonding altogether.A must visit if you are a vegetarian and you have a special place for south Indian food.
Nice place to visit to MTR I like so much masala dosa very much
Awesome vegetarian meals and breakfast. One of the best in town!
I feel this place is over rated, taste is just normal.... didnt find any wow factor except for ghee
Masala dosa comes with a light green chutney spread over it & with separate ghee and tastes good; Filter Coffee is excellent. Dishes are not too spicy (unlike many other fast food centres, who do it to reduce the intake capacity), and are generally good, but you have to pay more for the ambience and the name.
I never tasted till such as MTR so Yummy and Healthy food
Its a very neat and clean place to have south Indian style food. They have their own authentic taste. The staff.is very friendly and the all the products are rightly price. My personal fav is the mini tiffin, the servings are rightly sized....
The food is nice although it did not live up to the hype around the brand, so it was an anti-climax in that sense. Ambience is nice and traditional.
Pathetic service. Unfriendly and lethargic staff. One afternoon after a meal here, I had an online meeting to attend which was after 10 minutes and I was really sleepy, so just put my head down. A server woke me up abruptly and spoke really Rude. He was like dont sleep here. Get out. And other things in an angry tone. No manners and professionalism let alone politeness.
It was bright and airy. There was no temperature check at the entry and the hyper local delivery boys were crowding the entry to the eatery and there was zero social distancing.
One of the must visit place in Bengaluru for good south Indian meals.MTRs prices are bit Higher compared to other seller. they serve warm ghee with idli & Dosa which makes it very delicious. One can visit and enjoy the old and satisfying place.
Trusty old MTR still serving delicious special thalis.Naturally, there will be a wait before being seated. But the staff is courteous, food is delicious, and the experience is pleasant.Located on 5th floor, lifts are available. Parking space beside the park in front is limited. Restrooms are available.
Please do yourself a favour and avoid this horrifying nightmare of dining experience. They have zero crowd/order management skills. They treat people waiting like they are doing them a favour by serving them when they can. This brand is an unfortunate blot that we cant seem to get rid of. People just love their mediocre food for some reason and they keep up their arrogance in the name of popularity.
Good quality fare. Good service. Value for money.
Its an experience. Its a heritage restaurant in Bangalore. Service was good. Idly was really delicious. Other items that we had ordered were also good. Cost is quite high. But just to get an experience of The MTR. Providing ghee as side dish is the best ever tradition from MTR. Though it looks crowded from outside, there is enough room upstairs where table service is provided and you can eat peacefully .
Nice place with lots of people. Food was tasty. Service was good. We wanted to have mini meals but since it was weekend were not served. So we ordered a mini tiffin and a special meal. Of the special meal portions were generous and items many we ended up wasting food. Its better to up the price of mini meal in weekends rather than removing from the menu so that people like me can also enjoy. At least we could help each other but they wont allow to share. Regarding sharing also just tell the people that if you share, only one serving of every item shall be given. People can order 2-3 items and share with each other.
Good food. Went for breakfast. A little on the expensive end compared to other Darshinis.
The best of the south Indian flavours and authentic as well. The dosa is the very well popular all over Bangalore. And the best filter coffee you could get over here.
Chandra hara is a must try Sunday special. Masala dose, vada is excellent. Good service.
There wasnt much crowd but I guess they were short staffed. Food was excellent as expected. Only disappointment was that the vadai wasnt hot and the service was quite slow at a non-peak hour (post breakfast, before lunch; between 10:30am-11:30am
Awesome food...quality and quantity...very courteous staff...bisibele bath ambode mysore pak finger licking good...masala dose crisp on exterior soft inside..
Authentic Masala Dosa... Standard eatery... Visit with family and enjoy the delicacies
Crispy dosa, vsda and soft idlesWith nice sambar and chutney serving similar taste for decades a must visit in bangalore
It is not good. As per meOthers may find good. Ramesh kgf. I spent much auto to reach but wain
We went on a weekend and the only thing available was special meals! Meals was really nice and tasty. Starts with a grape juice, followed by chatnis and palyas.. then comes Dosa and Puri.. followed by ambodi, bisibelebath, puliogare, rasam sambar rice, curd rice, and fruit salad ice cream. Everything was yummy.
Awesome. I have no other words, I fall in love with the food everytime I visit. No better place than mtr for vegetarians and most importantly at a very lost cost
Tasty traditional south indian food...in unlimited lunch try to cut down on mini masala dosa..since following food items are more delicious
There could have been options like Bise Bela bath, Curd rice etc provided instead of only Oota
What a rava idly, what a masala dosa, Lip smacking!!!!Last but not least, what a service.Price is bit high but its common for any iconic food joints.
Good food. But somehow service was pathetic. Had to ask multiple times to be served
Would be even nicer if the staff learnt that smiling wont kill them.
I dnt no how people will choose this place. Visited for known persons invite. This place is like a railway station. After taking ticket only we need to onboard the train.-: Quality please do not ask.-: 100 times i asked to give juice.. finally servant agreed and gave water.-: They are charging more than 250 i think. not worth for the money.-: My request better carry rice from home and give them to cook-: They use BROKEN RICE to prepare Puliyogare, Bisibelebath and Rice. road side street food is for much better.-: Every one wants to make money including me but i am not soo much greedy to make.
No value for money, the resturant has average quality food with unbelievably high price .please dont visit if you are looking for good taste and value for money.
Had tried Chow-Chow Bath & Masala Dosa.Taste has been worsened now..Less quantity and high price. After lockdown, looks like chef has changed and taste is bad.
I went here to tast the MTR special n I had a masala dosa here. It was good..But I feel items prices are on higher side in compare to others..
Best rava idli you can have!! Texture is world class
Special lunch menu. Full Karnataka style lunch and unlimited
A good masala does & rava idli
Tasty food. Serve is also good. Over all good service 🙂
I really loved the place and its ambience. Its situated on the 4th floor. The service provided is by far the best. They also have a waiting area if there is no table available for you. They will come to take the order after you have seated. There are various kinda of meals and soth Indian food is available. In my opinion the Dosas are best served here.Taste wise the dosa was really the best I have eaten so far.Sauf is also served with the bill and you can pay through any payment mode.P.s. - you must try tye masala dosa.
Very good delicious food specially meals lot of iteams and they are given result of all iteams love this place.
Service provided was not adequate and the sweets had a taste of old oil , other than that dosas and idllys pretty good but the order delay is very high.
Average food at high prices. Running on Old repute. Not the same old MTR.
Masala Dosa is Worst i ate here in my life.
Food is consistently good. Try their signature dishes like rava masala dosa, shera, coffee. All dishes are not available at all times or on all days. So plan accordingly and enjoy a hearty meal.
Not all the MTR tastes the same. Bise bele bhaat is good. But dosa is average. Ambience and location is good.
Taste is not good. Interior design is nice
Had lunch at MTR. Time to visit 1230pmFood taste - simply superb.Lot of varieties - Poori/ Dosa/ 2bhaths/ Sweet/ Ambode/ fruit salad n icecream.Service - typical S. Indian affectionateParking - Ample space on road adjacentCost - slightly high but good value
Pathetic Service ! Nothing like MTR. Here the waiters act as though they are doing us a favor. Not worth
Pathetic service, long wait time for table and even longer wait time for ordering. Decent food but not worth the wait.
Amazing food. A must visit when in Bangalore. Dont miss the badam halwa.
One of the best Vegetarian restaurant 👍🏻You will need to starve for a while and then go and have a full Special meal. You will enjoy to the core. They have a very big list in the Special meal menu. You will enjoy almost every thing served in the special meal right from the welcome juice till Icecream with fruit salad and beeda. If you are damn hungry, just go for it. Please do not waste food. You may ask them to serve in lil quantitiesThey manage in batches during lunch time. It’s little crowded on Sunday afternoon. You will need to reach lil early and book for table. They also have wide spread in Ala carte menu. You have many dishes to order and relish the taste! No valet parking and you will lucky enjoy to get parking most of the times unless there is a party at ground floor hall. This restaurant is in 5th floor and they have a lift.Supervisors and attendants manage very well and friendly.
