Great ambience in a quaint old house in a quiet lane. The menu is very unique. What you can expect is very fresh home cooked food, that you dont usually find in hotels. Its healthy, organic, wholesome food for slightly higher price. They dont store food overnight in fridge which ensures freshness. For this reason, service was a bit slow as they freshly cook the food.
A hidden gem nestled adjacent to the ever green madhavan park. It really is a hidden gem as there is nothing from outside which makes it stand out. Looks like any other charming old homes which are part of old Bangalore. But step in and you are bound to get blown away by the ambience. They have retained every aspect of a welcoming home. The hosts are so welcoming as well and do explain everything about the menu and help you navigate with it. The menu is a fusion of South Indian favorite dishes with a contemporary touch. Everything is organic and you can tell its fresh too. The place is not lavishly big so a big group might find it difficult. Price is very reasonable too. A in house store lets you buy groceries which are organic. My present favorite place.
Thoroughly loved being @ Hungry Buffalo..One has to be there to feel the ambience each nook and corner s been thoughtfully beautified and the food served is sathvik..feel good place..would recommend this place for all who look forward for a special space to be with oneself or with friends n family...
Hungry buffalo is best described as a beautiful experience. This is a malnad cuisine restaurant with ethically sourced ingredients from all over India. It can also be described as a farm to table restaurant. Idea of the restaurant is not to cater to masses but to quality. This is not a place for parties but for soulful food. Remember to respect the hosts and other guests and keep your volumes low and enjoy the experience. Take time to speak to Kishore and ask him about the story behind each dish, be ready to be surprised and in awe. Please do call them and make a reservation as this place is bound to be extremely busy very soon. Every dish (entree, main, drinks) is crafted and cooked to perfection. I would suggest you to try 1 of each dish and drink and make it a tasting menu :). Jolada rotti here brought immense happiness. Ambience of the place is spellbinding.
Place for healthy, homely and lovely food. Hospitality was excellent. Felt like being at home :)We had puchkas, chappathi meal, roti meal, payasam and bullet kadubus. All food are freshly prepared out of fresh pest-free, non-toxic vegetables. Each bite felt so good. Especially the (real) akki roti. Didnt know that akki roti could be this soft and tasty. Came to that this is how an actual akki roti tastes. I dont think we could find this anywhere else in Bangalore.Overall, highly recommended. Just go there and eat. You wont regret :)
Awesome place, food and people. It is one of the best veg restaurants in Bangalore.Ambience:This is a remodelled old house with a lot of traditional items giving a retro feel. Attention to detail is what I was surprised at - stray stones assembled like what we could see in old days (90s). Flooring is so good and authentic like old days, we decided to sit on the floor seating. It was really good for me, but people who are not accustomed to sitting down for food might not be comfortable. They can choose other seating arrangements though. Camphor smoke smell gives that wonderful feeling. Only thing that could be improved is the mosquito control. But they have taken steps. This area in general has a lot of mosquitoes we found while parking our car near a park. Comparatively it was less inside the restaurant. Overall we loved the authentic ambience and that sets the tone for what we gonna eat.Food:Menu is plain and simple, thats what make me happy. Because too many items on menu is always tricky and takes a lot time to guess what to eat. We ordered Kothambir Vadi, Bullet Kadubu, Biksha bowl, Podi rice, Roti Meals and payasam. We loved our food so much that we left our plates clean. They say everything is made from organic ingredients and one could see that in the taste and happy tummy. Akki roti was suggested to us, though I had a prejudice against it because of my previous encounters with them in other places in Bangalore. After they insisted its good, I gave it a try. To my surprise, this one was really really good and shown how a good Akki roti would taste. Thanks for that. Other dishes were equally good and we loved it like other reviewers. Payasam everything is edible including the ragi cup holding it :) Nice touch to presentation.Service:Most of the restaurants, food and service are always opposite to each other. This is one of the places that stand as an outlier for such notion. Caretakers took care of us with utmost courteousness and knowledgeable at what they serve. This makes sure that their suggestions are based on what you would love.Overall this is one of the best casual dining place to pay a visit.
Its awesome.Though resto name sounds western but food taste resembles made in granny house.Purely organic. We tried- Bullet Kadabu- All spice hot drink (Must try)- Papadi chat (Papadi made of rice)- Akki rotti mealAll were really good.Ambience is just out of the box. From outside its looks like a 70s home entrance & inside its really well managed for seating.Good to visit with family & friends.Looking forward to visit again.
A quaint little cafe, with a pleasing ambience, warm hospitality and most of all, wonderful foodAWe were absolutely amazed to know from the owners, that food is served in its purest form - from the vegetables to the spices and the grains, everything is organic! Even the cookies! The organic store, adjacent to the cafe is a must visit too!
I had to meet a friend for lunch and he said hed take me to a place that was a nice cafe in Jayanagar. Little did I know that wed end up in a quaint little place that took me back to memories of my ancestral home in my fathers village. This place had simple furniture, red oxide flooring, comfortable rustic decor and just felt so homely. The food was amazing. There were items on the menu that Ive not tasted before because of them being prepared differently and with organic ingredients that tasted as fresh as fresh can be.I am pretty sure all the health benefits I got out of eating such a great meal were offset by me overeating. Id strongly recommend a visit just to get authentic, unconventional, tasty and healthy food that fills your stomach and also warms your heart.
First things first: a rare place which serves only organic food without the use of any processed ingredients (even refined sugar). Couple this with the incredible amount of thought that has been put into each and every item on the menu, and you have an assortment of some super tasty and healthy dishes to try.Added bonus: the folks running the place are super enthusiastic about what they do, the passion with which theyll explain each and every dish they serve adds an entirely new dimension to your experience. Plus the lovely ambience that theyve created makes it perfect place.
5 stars to the food, the people and the setting at Hungry Buffalo! It feels like a different world when you enter the place - my favourite place to sit is by the little pond and gaze at the fishies. Your children will love it too. The food is delicious, creative and healthy, all made from organic ingredients. The dips are my favourite! And the people running the place are really lovely.
Awesome food and great ambience. One of the rare restaurants that offers you the opportunity to indulge in great-tasting food without the unfortunate side effect of a queasy/ heavy feeling in the pit of your stomach. All the dishes are wholesome, fresh, and happily light on the tummy. The OM puchkas and watermelon and feta cheese salad deserve a special mention for their delicate yet delightful burst of flavor, perfectly balanced and so light youre left craving for more. All in all, a great place for guilt-free and innovative food thats as much a treat to the palette as to the soul.
A great place to go to with the family. Such a soothing ambience. Their Dip n chips is a must try. Even my kids relished it.A special mention about their oh-so-cute cutlery.Overall, Hungry Buffalo gets my thumbs for its delicious, wholesome food and ambience.
Amazing gem hidden away in Jayanagar. Wishing the best, so the quality, ethnic and organic touch can be retained. Do not expect a normal restaurant. Go in with a spiritual mind.
A quaint little cafe tucked away in the by lanes of Jayanagar. Every dish that I tried at the cafe was unique. So much innovation and creativity using the most unassuming ingredients. Extremely fresh food, cooked with organic ingrediants, heavenly to taste, healthy for the body and fulfilling for the soul - one cant ask for anything more!Cant wait to go back.
Its a bunch of young entrepreneurs who are from different backgrounds but same motivation towards holistic way to life, as one can put it most think through stomach this is a great way to reintroduce to the world about organic food cooked in traditional tribal style of slow cooking in earthen pots and cutlery and in not believing in storing food in a refrigerator for the next day. The food is good, taste is Good and even feels good in the stomach but its not pocket friendly as they have to source all their material from organic stores and their strong belief of not keeping food from the previous day, they dont have a huge list on their menu just 4 or 5 mains and a few starters to keep you busy till the food is cooked( oh if you are hungry , it will take a while). Its in a very villageish retro combo sort of house which is originally the buffalo back store who also happen to sell organic eggs. ( this place is 100% vegetarian so not even eggs are cooked, vegetarians can feel safe here). Its worth a visit there am sure youll enjoy.
Come here for most authentic and tasteful organic meals. Ambience is somber and peaceful. No rush. Spend time with a friend or with yourself. Some nice books to look at.
Amazing place and amazing food.Quaint little restaurant in the heart of jayanagar.. Head here for some humble honest and soul filling food.
A must visit for people of all ages who love fresh, tasty food & mindful cooking. The ambience is really good and so are the people running the place. Makes me want to visit again & again.
Healthy wholesome food using fresh organic ingredients makes Hungry Buffalo a must visit. Charming old Bengaluru atmosphere & great customer service are a bonus too...
Beautiful place, very peaceful and the food was amazing. Such a peaceful place and has an amazing vibe ❤️
Loved the place. Loved the ambience. Loved the food. Loved the hospitality.
One can get organic vegetarian food here. It is not the usual stuff that is available in South Indian restaurant. It is unique mostly derived from Kerala and south kanara food items. No stale foods. Will be prepared only after order is placed. Very calm place. More like a village house. Dishes are served on earthern plates covered with plantain leaves. Water in earthern cups. Wooden spoons and forks. No refrigerated items.
Food was amazing but quantity was very less for proper eater, hence the price seemed high with less quantity🙄
Loved the relaxed and earthy ambience. I was told to expect slow service because the food was made fresh so didnt mind the 15-20min wait. I picked up a book from their library and sipped on a kokum cooler. The Chapathi meal was totally worth the wait!
Super tasty food made from organic and traditional recipes. Their jackfruit dip is a must try! Beautiful place and some delicious mouthwatering food.
Love the ambiance and the food. A very nice place to have some relaxed meal time.
Authentic organic cusciene and lovely ambiance. Traditional food and peaceful decor puts you in good mood.
Amazing, place lovely ambience, wonderful people -kishore, swaroopa. We ordered kothamir vada which was too delicious..😋 a must visit place.. Absolutely lovely to spend a few hrs here..
The place is highly overrated . Puchka was just cucumber pieces stuffed with raw tomatoes and onions.. Totally not worth paying 180 for that.. Papdi chat was average.. Tomato soup was like Rasam... Cucumber salad was nothing but kosambri with groundnut chutney... The ambience was really good.... Photographers can actually visit the place for some good shoots.. but food with respect to taste must definitely improve..
Nice restaurant.
It is a wonderful place for healthy and organic food. The place is cozy and beautiful. They have starters, main course and some healthy drinks. Biksha bowl, Podi bowl, Papdi Chaat, lemongrass tea, payasam are all a real treat to your taste buds. It will be good to give a call and book for a table only because people tend to extend their stay, enjoying the place and food. It is wonderful to meet the people who take care of the place. If manage to have a chat with Kishor, it is a joy. There is an organic shop too where you can get organic vegetables, cereals, spices, oil, honey etc.
Lovely quaint place with great food! Beautiful ambience!
Experienced great good and hospitality at Hungry Buffalo. Food is very native and preparations nicely enhance the natural tastes and flavors of the key ingredients. We had Watermelon soup, Cucumber starter, Chapathi meal and Black rice Payasam. Each of them had something that stood out of the ordinary. The soup for its innovative preparation and taste, starter for its presentation, meal for its simple but nourishing side dishes and Payasam for everything (all in one makes it a perfect finish)!! Highly recommended for the hungry ones looking for some nourishing organic food. Go for it..
Very yum, tasty and healthy organic food in a very quiet place of jayanagar with a great natural ambience
Such a serene and calm restaurant. All the food is freshly prepared and is delicious.
Its a very nice and calm place to be. Food was good..I felt the quantity of food for the price was less. The authentic malnad style plain Akki Rottis were amazing.280 bucks for two Rottis is way to much..
Beautiful ambience with an excellent menu! Must visit spot in Bangalore.
