Good hospitality and service was prompt too. Food served was fresh and as expected. Ambiance is good, place is somewhat dark. But I liked the huge wall paintings, gave an amazing look and feel to the place. The place seemed overpriced to me. Overall a good meal and a decent time that I spent here.

Samarkand serves authentic afghan food. Food tastes great but the ambience needs improvement. The lack of lighting needs some serious attention. The seating comfort can be better. Though the hotel is located in Infantry Road, the whole stretch and the building itself was desolate. Also better communication from the waiters can improve the overall situation. Would have given 4⭐️ but the ambience earns a negative rating. Meal for 2 - ₹3000

After living in Bangalore almost my whole life, I recently visited Samarkand,in the month of October. Was excited to try the Afghani cuisine. Lovely ambience and interior. The place had some weird smell though. They had some renovation going on with the ladies washroom so I happen to use the gents washroom for the first time in my life. The staff are very courteous, food was very tasty but slightly pricey. The menu looks very interesting with some cute stories.

If your Biryani lover and from Bangalore you would have definitely visited this place for the biryani atleast once in your lifetime. An Afghani, mangolian frontier style restaurant located in Infantry road, the variety of kababs and the atta packed biryani is their speciality.Ive tasted both the mutton and chicken dum Biryani and must say they are out of the world and the ambience is great giving you a feeling of this place.Overall for the quantity and taste this place is ultimate for biryani and they dont have a take away or delivery option and can parcel as the only way to take food from the restaurant.

Impressive date night spot!Samarkhand restaurant is all about distinctive ambience and good food! The ambience is quite unique and impressive, so is the food. From the paintings to seats to menus to copper glasses to...The food is also flavourful, spiced to perfection and presented nicely. The whole experience turned me on to be honest😁😁😎 but highlights were BARRA KABAB and DUM SAFFRON RICE. the rice is by far the most Persian Ive ever had, and the Barra Kabab cant be described by words; go try this combination for yourself! The central-Asian theme also stands out from the interior to uniform of their servers. We wanted to visit on a rainy day, but the kitchen had shut down due to water leakage (the very welcoming gentleman who seemed to be the manager/owner did his best to accommodate us but he just couldnt, thank you sir!) but it was definitely worth the second trial.Perfect date-night spot; works for family gatherings and parties as well...

How the mighty have fallen!Once one of Bangalores premier restaurants, Samarkand has deteriorated into one of Bangalores worst. I guess I should have known that when I walked in to find the restaurant mostly empty. It started out with the menu. The novel newspaper menu of yesteryears is gone and is replaced with a special menu that could be found at any roadside Punjabi dhaba. There is zero explanation of whats what on the menu, no indicator of vegetarian or meat, no drinks menu (not even water or fresh lime soda is listed) and a whole side is dedicated to the Number of restaurants the BJN group owns. Even some of the waiters couldnt explain the menu. The restaurant no longer serves liquor as well. The ambience is terrible. We were shoved into a corner table next to the tandoor inspite of the restaurant being empty. The floor of the restaurant was filthy and the viewing glass to the tandoor was extremely dirty. The low seating which was once amusing is now just tacky and uncomfortable. It took atleast ten minutes for a waiter to address our table, and a lot more waiting and coaxing to get us the once famous breadsticks with multiple chutneys. The food came unusually fast though, and tasted reheated, not cooked fresh. The mutton was sub-par and had a rubbery texture. The waiter proceeded to spill the dum biryani onto the table and my friends lap while serving. All in all, a complete let down and an embarrassment to have visited this once-great restaurant. I still havent gotten over how tacky the menu has become. That menu does not belong anywhere and should be burnt. No establishment that charges the amount this place does, should be allowed to get away with such a disgraceful menu.

The main reason to go to Samarkand is for the food. The portion sizes are huge and you get some really delicious dishes. Service is prompt as well. The only downside is the ambience which is let down by the old property and lack of good lightning. Feels dingy and could use some fresh air. Although it is a bit pricey for Indian food, the taste itself redeems itself from other shortcomings.

I really cannot imagine why anyone would like to visit this restaurant. The ambience is dated and run down. The restaurant had a musty and unpleasant odour. The food ranges from mediocre to average. The service is extremely poor. On our visit the staff were not able to remember or accommodate even the simplest requests. I do not intend to go back here again. I would suggest that there are many far better options to consider if you are looking at North Indian cuisine. Do not waste time going here.

Its on infantry road in a prehistoric mall like place where the only thing in business seems to be Samarkand. Firstly there is no liquor. The seats and table are very low, if you are tall its very uncomfortable. We ordered for the Non veg platter consisting of Chicken, Fish and Lamb. Costed us 2.5K just for that. The chicken tasted good, the sheek and kalmi kabab was very tasty , the lamb was not good. I would recommend to avoid lamb. It tasted unusual. Nor many mocktails too so you are gonna be disappointed there. Now coming to the biriyani, they give you individually dum held pots which were absolutely brilliant. The check was very tender and the rice was scented like it should have. Price was $$$$. Good for a one time visit.

When you get to the mall, you’re wondering, “where the heck am I?” You reach the doors to the restaurant, and still you wonder, “where the heck am I?” Once you go in, and be seated, you take a look around and get a feeling that you’re in the town of Samarkand itself - a wonderful feeling with the assistance of the menu to help you grasp the history of Samarkand. You begin to order, and the order is served in a timely manner. Once you take your first bite, it’s everything you had hoped it would be from such an authentic restaurant. The food is amazing, the ambiance is stupendous, and time spent there is nothing less than eventful.Suggestion: go with a group of people, and you’ll be sure to have your money’s worth.

Old timer for this restaurant.. must have eaten at least 25 times . The quality of food is going down but worse the quality of staff . They gave me a discount as per Zomato gold and when I ask them to cut off service charges what do they do ? Just meddle the bill and increase my discount and manager says he can’t remove the service charge .. worse he doesn’t even know that service charge isn’t compulsory and it’s against the law ... when quizzed he points at a board displayed at the front of the restaurant .. how blatantly people violate laws and get away . I always tip the servers but don’t believe in 10% which moastly goes to the owners pocket .. why am I forced to do unlawful things .? Manager is completely clueless about the current laws and condescending. Wish u would survive Samarkand for the good food u serve but pathetic management

Ambience is good. No to vegetarians. I had a bitter experience with veg tandoori starters especially made of Broccoli. They served me partly cooked and had a feeling of having a part boiled vegetables without any smoky or spicy flavors attributed to tandoori items. On my request, the waiter had taken the dish to correct it but returned it full boil with an extra dose of tandoori gravy on it, to my disappointment. All other veg dish they served are good but not so different from any other restaurants except that i have to buy at a higher price. My Friends were happy with the Non-Veg dish they had but felt that they are expensive for the quantity they served. Overall good for Non Vegetarians and a No to vegetarians.

We ordered shorba but received it after receiving our starters. Also the staff seemed to be confused about the availability of certain items. We had ordered 2-3 items but were later told that the items are not available. The food however tasted good. The anjeer kebab was a different take on dahi kebab and felt nice.
