I had always wanted to try Vietnamese cuisine (Thanks to MasterChef Australia). I was really looking forward to my visit to this place. Here are the parameters for my rating :Parking : 0/5 Not available and no valet eitherSafety : 4/5 Relatively safe but some of the tables are placed close to each otherAmbience : 3/5 We could hear construction sounds and traffic from the road. It really was a mood killFood : 3/5 We ordered one appetiser, one drink and 2 main course dishes (1 veg and 1 non-veg).We originally asked for a different appetiser which despite being available as a veg option in the menu was not being served. We switched to another appetiser which was just salad with a sauce. It tasted good.Kombucha spritzer was a good drink. A little sweet for my taste but worth it. They werent serving alcoholic beverages. Expected to start in the next week (Oct 2021 2nd week)Veg main course was a disappointment. It was a rice noodle soup with vegetables. It didnt have much flavour despite mixing all the sauces. I was looking forward to this since it was mentioned as Vietnamese street food.Non-veg main course : Chicken curry and rice. It was above average. The potato fritters which accompanied this dish were the highlight.Expense : It costed us INR 1400+ for 3 dishes and a drink. Quite expensive for the food, service and ambience offered. You can visit if you wish to try something new. My recommendation : A one time visit to try Vietnamese cuisine.

This is a nice little place tucked away on 12 Main, Indiranagar. A very cosy place that makes you feel welcome the minute you enter the the establishment, where the seating arrangements are good, pricing is value for money and service is excellent. Coming to the food where they serve Vietnamese cuisine, a special mention for a particular appetizer that goes by the name of - Summer Roll which is off the charts and their home-made tomato chilli sauce that goes with the dish, is the best I have ever tasted. The only thing I have too point out is the ambience, which is average at best, cause of the poor lighting arrangements. Definitely a must visit for the adventurous and the ones who like to try something tantalising and different.

Like any chicken curry of kerala with coconut and spices. Not much of a difference. Was an Indian curry. Was served with steamed rice, salad and Potato wafers.Should visit this place once. This place has maintained the quality since the beginning. Always guaranteed good food, you should try all the starters for sure. Be careful of the curries because that turns out to be on the sweeter side and I am not much of a fan there. Hence I avoid the curries and have a fantastic time with all the other on the menu. Also a special mention to the manager, probably the most efficient and sweetest guy.

Food was average. Hanoi lamb tasted bad. It was undercooked and full of oil. The meat in the momos was undercooked (raw kind of chewy). Pho was okaish for our taste. Waiters (serving us) were timid and unable to tell us the ingredients used in the dishes. Ambience was good though.

Ive wanted to visit for a long time as I love Vietnamese food. The ambience was pleasant and service friendly. We were a group of six but the table felt nice and cosy. There was less for vegetarians than I had expected. The starters were extremely spicy, noodles were very good especially the smokey mushroom noodles but the rice dishes were very bland with no aroma at all. Also the veg curry had a very non descript flavour. The Pho was ok but many would find it too flavourless even with the accompiments. All in all, we were disappointed with many dishes and didnt feel it value for money, although the smokey mushroom and Saigon noodles are definitely worth going back for.

Firstly, the ambience is warm with dim lights and the tables near the side have candles lit. We ordered Viet spare ribs which were great, perfectly cooked with a delicious sauce, pork bahn mi was good too especially the bread was great. I used the chili/tomato sauce with it which added the right amount of zing and spice. The radish and carrot pickles were all out as soon as they came. Slightly on the costlier side especially when they charged 60 rupees for a 20 rupees water bottle. Last but the best part of the meal was definitely the mung bean pudding which was a delightful surprise in terms of flavour.

The place is beautiful, it was there 10th Anniversary so we got 2 complimentary beers as well as coaters. Since we arent such big eaters we ordered 2 mains and one dessert. Nice and cozy restaurant, purely Vietnamese cuisine. Pleasant staff and the food seemed to be nice (dont have any perspective since we havent had too many experiences with this cuisine). However, we did see quite a bit of expat crowd including what I suspect was a Vietnamese family as well. They seemed to be enjoying their meal, so maybe the food is good. We also encountered the owner who seemed to be managing the crowd at the restaurant - offered us seating when he saw that we were with an infant. Will surely recommend.

The ambience, service and food are top class. However Pho which is probably one of the most unique Vietnamese dishes was not up the mark when we had lunch yesterday. The broth of Pho is the key and it should be matured for at least a day. If you make fresh then it becomes watery and bland and loses the originality and taste. Also there should be more mix and portion of vegetables in the broth.

The only let down was beverages, not so good in taste but expensive. We start with the food- 9/10Great food! Unique tastes, a lot of peanut related dishes, good variety (especially if youre non vegetarian), although you might need to order quite a few dishes to fill yourself - the quantity couldve been more. I recommend trying out the red river riot! Especially the squid one, great taste, super filling and a wonderful experience! The crepes were at best average though, and the banana slices with it felt a little off (the crepes and banana were a part of their speciality dish and my least favourite).Beverages-9/10Unique stuff, again! If youre in for some oddly new tasting fizzy teas and the likes, youd love the place. As for the safe players, they do have the standard cold drinks too.Ambience- 8/10Aesthetic and natural look, not the best but quite simplistic, the music was mostly alright though it did get a little disturbing at times.Service - 8/10Polite staff. Although it did seem like they were a little understaffed and took a little while to come around with the menu, refills, etc.Other comments: Well set up, cozy atmosphere, great place to get family/lovers to, a bit too sober and pricey for a casual friend hangout though. Except for the minor visible seepage in some areas of the ceiling, and random cats walking in the place, it should be an enjoyable experience for most, with some unique new dishes to the table, and quite well seasoned at that. Do make sure to choose multiple dishes rather than one in huge numbers, for I feel thats where Phobidden Fruit shines most! (dont forget to experiment with their super spicy red sauces and the strange yet satisfying combination of peanuts and soya sauce)!

This review is solely based on the one dish I tried..... the Vegetarian Pho.I must say that this soup was pretty damn good. The broth was lacking a little flavor in comparison to pho that is made in Vietnam or the Vietnamese in Toronto (where I’m from). It is quickly fixed by adding some of the sriracha and hoisin? sauce that is served along side. The other thing lacking was the amount of fresh herbs and beans sprouts which are usually given in handfuls back home and in Vietnam. All in all I look forward to go back again to sample some of their other dishes.

If you are connossier of authentic south east Asian cuisine and love less oily foods..this place would suit you....I really liked the combination of spices, Vegetables and noodles in the pho (noodles soup), which they served with salads...a must try Vietnamese dish...also we tried summer spring roll, was really good one.........a sober and humble ambience, aptly decorated with flowers and plants would give a soothing look around...however at peak times could be little noisy, as the place is little cramped, however can be ignored due to good food and services.....there is no dedicated car parking, so suggested to reach there early and get a roadside parking for your car, as the area is much crowded :)...

I felt bad when I saw 75 for a bottle of water. The explanation by the manager was straight forward rent is high, so we charge.Anyway lets talk about the food. We ordered chicken, fish, beef, pork and a few veg starters. I liked the presentation,it was basic but appealing. Taste was average, the pork I felt was indianised to suit our taste. Soupy meals were simple and bland (I like bland). Not many loved it, some felt it was too watery and zero flavors. Prices are on the higher front. Overall, Location is good, parking is an issue, food is average.Plus our bikes were messed up with paints from the neighboring building.

I’m a big fan of pho.... not a connoisseur or anything remotely close. But the pho here was to die for. OMG. Loved it. Was a busy lunch Sunday and we kinda reached late without reserving a table in advance, but we got a table fairly quickly. The interiors are brilliantly done, very inviting. The menu is fantastic. We ordered quite a bunch and everything we ordered was tasty to say the least. They did mix up or dumplings, we ordered pork but were served vegetarian. No biggie, the taste was still good. The rolls the, the stir fry, fried rice, the pho all tasted just so so good... even the coffee they served was so good that my sibling ordered a few times over :-p Even the name of the joint it’s pretty well thought of, not that that affects taste and service. I was really happy with my visit and this is for sure a place I 100% intend to visit when in the city next.

Went for lunch to Phobidden Fruit today. Firstly the ambience is fantastic, the paintings on the wall and the brightly coloured cushions make for a visual treat. Multiple seating options from 2 to more than 8 people seemed to be available making it a versatile location for various sizes of groups.Over to the food:Starters:(1) Veg Mekong Momos - very nice texture and flavour(2) Banh Cuon - this was the best dish we had through the entire lunch - it has such a great flavour and made for a great starter (highly recommended)Mains:(1) Veg Pho - the presentation was incredible and the portion sizes were extremely large. The flavours too were brought out further with the addition plate of ingredients. The noodles were great as well. This is a great option for vegetarians(2) Kho - the pork was brilliantly cooked and the flavour of the curry was initially sweet but later changed into something spicy. Was incredible to have that variance of flavour in the mouth. The Asian cut on the pork means that there is a sizeable amount of fat on the pork and hence choose this dish with a little caution(3) Spicy Prawn Fried Rice - this was similar to most other fried rices I have had and hence nothing extra ordinary. However, the spice was well done and the rice cooked to perfection. So it was certainly a great fried rice, but nothing new on flavours. All in all a great place to try out in Indiranagar for some Asian food. The flavours were great and the food was extremely well presented.

The most authentic Vietnamese cuisine i have tried till dateI have been to many restaurants serving Vietnamese cuisine but none came close to this place for a mile.I ordered :A) Beef Pho: Mild broth with lemongrass and a side of sprouts and tulsi leaves with lemon, onions and tamarind and tomato chilli sauce.. The beef pieces were a bit chewy and tasted almost like chicken. The noodles were flat styled noodles.. I really loved that broth. A word of advice, if you like your broth to be spicy dont add too much chillies in the start.. Add a little bit at first and let it rest in the broth. Will help in developing the taste moreB) Banh mi: The best thing about this for me was the juicy pork. The juices were running down the moment you took a bite out of it.. The bagette was nicely toasted on the outside and was soft on the inside..C) Monk Bean pudding: Best way to end a meal. The dessert was nicely balanced with the bit of sourness from the green apples and little bit of sweet from the litches..Overall was a really good experienceTwo things that i would like to call outOne, the board with the name of the restaurant is. Bit small and can be easily missed so be careful to lookout for it while drivingSecond the restaurant was very dark for me.. They wanted to make a cozy ambience but that only resulted it being dark.
