The Puttenahalli lake is a hidden gem. Living around this area it took me a while to get to this lake.Its a huge lake with a walking path and shady places to sit.There are lots of ducks and great number of birds in the lake.Its very calm and windy and very serene.

Very good place for small walks and birding.

The walkway covers around 60 70% of the lake. It is a good place to chill, a bit more on the mosquito side and some parts look really dirty. Plenty of moorhens and Storks around. The sunset view with the reflections of the L&T buildings look quite amazing

Nice lake to have morning/evening walk, less crowded and the view is good. You can see different type of birds there such as heron, sparrow and Indian blue jay.I go there for running every morning and sometimes evening also. There are places to sit as well if you feel tired while running. Additionally you can park your vehicle outside of the lake.

Puttenahalli lake is a heartening example of what can be achieved when citizens and government agencies work together. Ive been visiting this lake since the past fifteen years. The lake had become a garbage dump and was used for all kinds of illegal activities. The Puttenahalli Neighborhood Improvement Trust (PNLIT) took over the management of the lake about ten years ago. Today, largely due to the efforts of PNLIT, Puttenahalli lake is officially categorised as a rejuvenated waterbody. It is home to over 150 species of birds, butterflies, insects and aquatic fauna. During the winter, the lake is visited by several migratory birds that come down from Europe and Central Asia.There is one chronic issue that has troubled both BBMP and PNLIT. This is the illegal slum at the eastern bank of the lake. In spite of an order by the High Court, the slum has still not been cleared. The slum-dwellers threaten BBMP and PNLIT officials, damage fences and signboards at the lake and they even trap and eat protected birds like the Grey-headed swamphen.Also, of late, the lake is being used by some local thugs as an open-air gym. These louts occupy the community center at the lake and prevent elders and women from sitting there. This happens in spite of the home guard who has been stationed there to stop such people.Otherwise, Puttenahalli lake is a delight to visit and a good place to enjoy some fresh air and a pleasant walk. Once the slum is cleared and suitable restrictions against misuse are put in place, Puttenahalli lake will become one of the best urban waterbodies in Bangalore.

The walking path was good , well maintained.But the lake itself was covered with algae and water plants. A few birds were visible.

It is a really good lake for walking. You get a peace of mind and all your stress goes away. Its also a great place for spotting birds considering it is in the middle of the city, surrounded by buildings. I frequently visit this place since I have a project on the birds of this lake. A bit narrow jogging path, but entire area covered with the trees to protect from sunrays if going in sunny weather. Doesnt have the provision to make full running circle as the pathway is not connected at ends. Hence may not be ideal for nonstop jogging. Lake inhabited by lots of birds which provides a great ambience. Well maintained resting places are provided in plenty

Puttenahalli lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in Bangalore city. The lake is pictorous with rarely seen birds visiting the lake everyday along with loads of fish and ducks. The lake is maintained by local citizens along with a private companies including United Bengaluru Foundation thus saving the lake from builders. There are also local fishermen here who breed fishes to take of them.I love jogging here early in the morning however the park is closed after 6:30pm since there arent flood lights available here. Also, the far end of the lake is ugly due to the people living there throwing garbage right in front of the park so if you are visiting the lake for a walk or jog, dont go to the far end of the lake. There is also a barricade around the lake so you dont go into the ugly side of the lake. There is also a designated place to sit along with cover and also seats throughout the lake to relax.

The work done by citizen group Puttenahalli Neighbourhood Lake Improvement Trust (PNLIT) is something which cant be described in words. One needs to visit the lake themselves to experience the phenomenal change PNLIT team has brought to the lake. There efforts in restoring lake has changed everything. The biodiversity at the lake is very rich. One can spot alot of birds and butterflies. PNLIT group is also keeping data of the birds available at the lake which is very helpful for new visitors. I would recommend everyone to visit the lake when you are in Bangalore.

Good for morning n evening walk.. Near by community has given a facelift to the lake.. They have placed birds resting branches. Nice to watch birds pose on it if you are lucky..

Beautification of lake is under process...

It was not well maintained an year ago. Now it is maintained well and you will find lots of people walking even on early morning. It is a beautiful and picturesque lake with some place to sit, exercise and relax. It gives nice view evening as well.small place for kids to play as well. No entrance fees . Thete are parking areas for two wheelers. Negative side: Beeate of stray dogs atleast better controlled than before. Jogging track covers only 60% of lake and rest of area is not jogging friendly. I dont see any rest room provided.

Another lake in Bangalore neat old people and scientific names mentioned on all the trees end of the space to walk there is a fountain and parking space for ur bikes but very less for the car.

Its a quaint little lake that a bunch of environmentally conscious locals are trying to rejuvenate . Plants that help in phytoremediation have been introduced here .The lake is gradually springing back to life. One can spot many birds around .

The walk path is not well maintained..... Lots of small House are built in the region which belongs to the public..... looks like they are all slums.... Felt very bad...But I got a good view.... here... So took my phone and captured some pics, the view was actually great..... Puttenahalli lake is a small, freshwater lake located in JP Nagar 7th phase. Puttenahalli lake in the morning taking in the clean air, flowers in bloom and kingfisher making a quick dip, they pat themselves for a job well done.

The walkway is good and place is very serene. There are some birds and decent amount of greenery. Good for morning walks when traffic is low

A very nice place to enjoy some silence and serenity and to catch up with yourself once in a while. The lake is beautifully restored to its glory and lends a sense of the much needed nature balance to the location. The area is also blessed with a forest nearby.You can jog, run or take a stroll around this lake as a walkway is created. Doing this early morning is sheer bliss. Dustbins are in place to ensure people dont dirty the surrounding. The lake is just next to MLR convention hall/brigade school/Indian Music Experience building.Unfortunately, the residents around the lake do throw garbage outside the lake section. Hopefully, that will stop some day and we will get to see the lake in its full glory.

Only low factor is the unmaintained space where there has been dumping of wastes spoiling tbe atmosphere of that region. So in all the experience is good if you limit yourself to its boundaries..

Puttenahalli lake is a restored fresh water lake which is very well maintained by the staff. The lake is also used for fish farming.Ideal place for morning and evening walking and jogging.Specially during morning time you can experience fresh air and enjoy the atmosphere. Its not too small nor too big lake.Located near Brigade millennium apartments.

This is a wonderful lake situated in the midst of ever growing JP Nagar. But not maintained properly. This could be made more attractive place by introducing boating / breeding fish or even attracting more birds. But, think the government is not showing enough interest. Though the puttenahalli lake trust made some effort....they could not sustain for various reasons.I hope at least proper fencing and walkway is made for more people to walk and enjoy the scenery.

Its really a nice lake and also has a walking way for people through which people can go around the lake.But I suggest to not go for a full round of the lake as in the end its very dirty as it is a slum near Lakshmi layout.But going half a way is pretty good and also beautiful

This was a beautiful lake but now it is very dirty. There is a pavement surrounding the lake . This is a very good place for walking and jogging in the morning or evening. There is a small parking area that can hold up to 10 two wheelers. This is also a home for many kinds of birds.
