RESTRICTED ENTRY!The forest is temporarily closed due to Covid by the central govt. We managed to enter as the gates were open, but on our return the guard informed us that its not open to public.Anyone looking for HENNUR BAMBOO FOREST, please note that this is the same as Marasandra forest.

Its a beautiful forest area situated on both sides of the Bagalur Mandur road. Calm & less traffic green belt which attracts cyclists during morning & evening hours. We go there usually on weekends for cycle rides.

Looks awesome, but its closed !! its a restricted area and not advised to tresspass ...its a forest and not meant for cycle rides or walks, although it would have been great to build a path around , being in centre of the city. wonderful road with forest on both sides. in high winds you can see the long bamboo make creaking noise...its like the story of jackal and sour grapes :)

Known as the Hennur Bamboo Forest this place is not very easy to find. I was expecting to be able to see the forest from at least a few hundred metres far, but this was a nicely hidden treat. I cycled along the criss-crossed paths and could hear the creaking of bamboo and the rustle of leaves along with the calls of peacocks. If you just stand still they may even be brave enough to walk close to you.

Dear friends, I am a resident of Marasandra village, our village forest has many features, very beautiful forest, perennials, rabbits, deer, wild boars, different species of birds and various kinds of fruits, as well as the temple of the turmeric God. Yes, and our forest is divided into Marasandra, Jyotipur and Mandur villages which are approximately 1000 acres.

You wouldnt expect to find fresh air so close to Bangalore. But you do here. Go very early in the morning to enjoy or for a jog. Days in summertime will be hot.

This is the start point for Hennur Bamboo Forest Ultra Marathon. Race distance range from 10k for the noobs to 250k for the crazy runners! This event is not for the faint hearted - route is flat but weather can be extremely hot during the day especially between 8am and 6pm.Its is easier to approach this place via NH44 take the right turn between A2B and Decathlon. Its is about 11km from this point and takes about 20 minutes by car.
