It’s good place to spend some time with kids, located in Bannerghartta national park right next to the zoo. I’ve been there so many times so far, my daughter still liked it. There’s a beautiful garden both indoor and outdoor, lots of butterflies too.It opens 9:30 am, we reached almost 10, so it wasn’t crowded and we had a good time.

Awesome macro photography, disappointing population of butterflies. I must say the dome and the interior plantations are really amazing. However the purpose of fostering a variety populace of butterflies is not served. There are not as many diverse species as one would expect. Certainly cannot be compared to Singapore airport or even Srilankan National parks. Id expected the garden City National park to foster and thrive multiple species and large number of them. Perhaps I underestimate the biological complexity of it. However, we did see just as many butterflies just outside of the butterfly dome. I think it would be an excellent learning for everyone had there been a thriving balance of bio-diversity in terms of different types, colours, shapes. Nonetheless, it does makes for a awesome spot for macro photography.

A quaint place with flowering plants to draw these gorgeous butterflies. You would find quite a few butterflies, if only you be calm, stay still and look around ☺️We spotted a lot of Common Mormon, Crimson Rose, Common Red Pierrot, and many other small ones that I am not really aware of the names. A good place to casually hang out in calm. Loved it!

The butterfly park is situated right outside the main enclosure of the Bannerghatta Park.We went here just when it was about to close and we were enthralled with the beautiful surroundings around the place. There is a kids play area, an area which overlooks the national park and the main enclosure which houses the butterfly park. While it was almost an accident that we decided to enter the place, but very happy that we didnt miss the same.

If youre not keen at noticing minute things & butterflies, you cannot enjoy this place but I promise you instead of rushing, just slow down and try to notice each and every part of the plants. Then you will surprise and will definitely feel its worth visiting and also will praise the god for his beautiful creation.Have a look at the pictures I had captured here in the butterfly garden..

Id visited Bannerughatta National Park and thought that Id seen all there was on offer. It isn’t often that you find out about how wrong you were within a matter of days. The first trip was made on October 4, a Saturday. I returned on October 9 for another trip. After the familiar routine, out of an impulse I can’t quite place now, I want to visit the Butterfly Park (Rs 20/-). We are greeted by information boards along the cobbled path and there are people seated on benches. Soon it graduates to a promenade and we are approaching the entrance shaped in the form of a butterfly. Inside, there lies another world. A microcosm within our world. A greenhouse-like structure meets our eyes. There are plants, all kinds of them - beautiful, exotic, and quaint. Waterlets spring up here and there adding life to the environs. Crossings over tiny culverts further enhance it. And fluttering about in this pristine setting are the denizens of the place - Butterflies. That a creature like a Butterfly gets its due from the wildlife conservation authorities in India is astonishing to me. Even if one considers the admiration Indians have for this colourful creature, this is not the kind of place one would expect to see in India. Here, the most painstakingly engineered environment exists for one of the most beautiful inhabitants of our planet. It takes a while for the scene to sink in and we begin scouting for Butterflies. This is an act of hope and requires patience, as anyone who has tried to spot or photograph Butterflies will testify. Eventually we manage to home in on a few. Some of the patterns are of such delicate beauty as to beggar belief. When the others beckon to leave, I try to postpone it for as long as possible. The exit leads to an Information Centre where kiosks and boards dish out information with the aid of illustrations. There are games as well and a documentary with narration is playing in the next room. The hold isn’t loosened one bit. One is well and truly in the presence of Butterflies. Walking along I encounter a board with the following:“The transformation of the pupa into the larva, followed by the metamorphosis into the butterfly is one of the most magical acts of nature” - and nod in agreement.

Butterfly park is located inside Bannerghatta National Park and can be easily located using google maps. There are frequent BMTC bus services to this place. Food stall and a few restaurants are located in the entrance of Bannerghatta National Park but there are none near Butterfly park. After the ticket counter at the entrance, there is a pathway with beautiful flowering shrubs and enormously huge trees on either sides. At the end of the pathway is a park or play area from children, a drinking water station, restrooms and some more benches to sit back, relax and enjoy the the tree shades, fresh air and the gushing sounds of wind. A large multicolored butterfly door welcomes the tourists into the butterflies den, which is a pretty good spot from some pictures and selfies. There is also a man made pond with a few fishes swimming around and tortoises. A well maintained green house, houses a large variety of beautiful and colorful butterflies amid attractive flowering bushes and shrubs. A small stroll in this tiny trail is soothing, mesmerizing and refreshing. At the end of the trail is a butterfly museum.Entry ticket:Adults - 30 INRChildren and senior citizens - 15 INR
