Located on the Church Street, Carnatic is an authentic South Indian restaurant with royal interiors and spacious enough to keep a good crowd.I visited this place to try their newly launched all day breakfast menu which they serve on Sundays from 8pm.We started with some beverages like majjige, lime water and tulasi seeds and panka which is made of muskmelon and one of their famous drinks.Heading to the dishes, we tried the mutton chops which was well cooked, akki roti tasted yum with the green chutney, the kaal soup or the mutton leg soup was just okay. The crisp plain dosa was perfect with the green and tomato chutney and the egg kothu parota was delicious. In the biryani section, we had the chicken biryani which was delightful with the salan and gutti vankaya pulav which is made with brinjal was a unique and amazing dish I have ever tried though I am not a fan of eggplants. We also had some of their desserts and the coconut moose and kulfi were just the best. ๐Ÿ˜‹

Ambience is great. But effing overpriced. It definitely wasnt worth the price we paid. Moreover, the price listed in menu was tricky. They charged 4x for the meals we had. And their reasoning was horrible. And talking about the time they took to serve, they made us wait for more than 20 minutes before they provided welcome drink. Extremely dissatisfied with this.

Food was amazing.Had ordered kaal soup , chicken ghee roast, mutton biriyani and chicken biriyani.Soup is a little different from usual chicken soups, but if you are looking for something authentic or taste of grandmas must visit.Chicken ghee roast was my favourite, every spices used were lip smacking. If you are looking for a different taste , an authentic Karnataka taste then this place will satisfy you.Although it is at a little higher edge and quantity is less but quality & taste is amazing.

This place is located on Church Street. The entrance is slightly dark and can be deceiving. The menu is extensive, and they have tried to cover the cusine from five different states down south. Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerela, AP and Telangana. People are warm and friendly and the staff are polite. There is vallet parking available. We tried a variety of food, Mutton leg soup, fish rava fry, ragi roti, akki rotti, neer dosa and nati koli saru( country chicken gravy). The food was overall good, except for the chicken gravy which was below par. My pick is mutton leg soup and fish rava fry and Id recommend those as must try and not to forget the majjige ( butter milk). The portions are decent for the price. The ambience is just about ok and can get cramped during busy hours. It is advisable to reserve a table before you get there as there is no waiting lounge. The service is fast that makes the experience better. If you are looking to experience South Indian non-vegetarian food which is tradition and unique, then you should try this place.

Iโ€™d been here during their biryani fest, where they showcased 8 different types of Biryaniโ€™s from across south India and brought all those cities and states to life with them.Ambience:Very South Indian and soothing. Plenty of wall art with dance forms across south India. All these paintings are beautiful. It gives a very homely feel given that Iโ€™m a South Indian. Very well done interiors.Food:Being a gigantic biryani fan I HAD to try all of them and Iโ€™d like to say they did justice to most of them.Of the 8 Biryaniโ€™s I tried, I happened to like some much more than the others. The spread they had were:โ€ข Bangarpet Biryaniโ€ข Mandya Style Chicken Pulavโ€ข Thalappakatti Biryaniโ€ข Thalappakatti Veg Pulavโ€ข Guntur Chicken Biryaniโ€ข Hyderabadi Chicken Biryaniโ€ข Karnataka Style Egg Biryaniโ€ข Guthivankaya PulavThe ones I loved out of these were:โ€ข Thalappakatti biryani - this is the authentic biryani from Tamil Nadu. A combination of various spices making it perfect for the taste buds, this was one of my favourites. It was spicy and went so well with the raita, I absolutely enjoyed it.โ€ข Guthivankaya Pulav - This is from Andhra Pradesh. The veg pulav with brinjal was definitely different in a very pleasant sense. I loved the blend of pulav with brinjal.Apart from the Biryaniโ€™s I loved the Andhra Style Chilli Chicken. I loved it so much I ordered another place. Itโ€™s spicy with the taste of raw green chilli. And the chilli chicken gravy is to die for ♥๏ธThe other most interesting dish I had was the Coconut Mousse. Oh my god. Perfectly dense mousse with bits of coconut was honestly a delight. I enjoyed it thoroughly. Itโ€™s also served in a coconut shell. Definitely worth it.Service:Slightly slow and something they can improve on.All in all, pretty great place and worth the try!

Carnatic :Based on the history,South Indian states are combinedly called as Carnatic Empire.. Hence the name CARNATIC , where you have foods that are unique & famous from the southern states curated in the menu. The menu is divided to pages that suggest foods starting from Karnataka, Andhra, Tamilnadu , Kerala. Appreciate the story & thought behind the name of this place :)Location :Situated in Church street near to Adigas, the restaurant is located in 2nd floor where you have a staff person on the ground to welcome you :) wont take more than 5 min from MG Metro station ( a good plus point to visit this place without worrying about the traffic )Ambiance :With beautiful & Elegant wall paintings all over the place. With light music on the background, with the color combinations of the furniture & the cutlery used.. It gives a nice traditional & sitting around here. As a fact that the staff were dressed in traditional wear to enhance the feel of this place.Food :Starters were good which we tasted - Andhra Chilli Chicken ( true to its name), Prawns Ghee Roast ( Best) , Chicken Joints (Decent).Grab your seat where you have 8 biryanis to choose from the biryani festival is happening till the month end .1 Guntur Chicken Biryani2 Mandya Style Chicken Pulav3 Bangarpet Chicken/Mutton Biryani4 Thalpakatti Chicken/Mutton Biryani5 Thalpakatti Veg Pulav6 Hyderabadi Chicken Biryani7 Karnataka Style Egg Biryani8 Guthivankaya PulavTried couple of them where my favorites includeThalapakatty Chicken Biryani : flavorsome biryani with good amount of well cooked meatGuthivankaya Pulav : Do try this version if you like to explore. Loved this dish here.Apart from Biryanis, we tried Chicken kothu Paratha , Malabar Paratha with chettinad Chicken curry. Both were pretty good.Coconut water with Lime & Muskmelon panaka were good to order for drinks :)Dont forget to order Coconut Mousse which is served in coconut shell with biscuit crumbs under the mousse.Service should be improved as the staff werent aware of the biryani versions which is served on the table.Hyderabad Chicken Biryani rice has to be cooked more as the rice is bit hard. Guntur Chicken Biryani can be improved by using Basmati Rice which is the way it is generally prepared.

I tried mostly mutton dishes like paya soup, Fried paya leg(i forgot the name), kotthu porotta, and the most iconic coconut dessert which was awesome. The only problem or was that they billed the coconut as a beverage/drinks bill that was the only confusion. Carnatic, an upscale restaurant in Church Street which serves until 4AM. As the name suggests this place serves dishes from the Southern region of India. The warm classical music on the background and the wonderful illustrations make it a wonderful ambiance. I was here to try their Hosatadaku menu recently.Bonda Soup: Fantastic!! One word for it. Subtle amount of spice and crispy Vada in a turmeric base.Idli-Nati Koli Saaru: Idli was fine. The country chicken or Nati Koli was not cooked that well and the meat was a bit chewy.Andhra Style Chilli Chicken: Spicy as it should be and wonderfully cooked.Puri and Batani Kheema Gojju: This was the most devoured dish. It was goodMutton Pulav: here again, mutton pulav was Flavourful and decentYelaneeru Payasa: Tender Coconut Payasa was great with chunks of Tender Coconut. Could have reduced a bit of sugarService could have improved a bit.Bon Appetit,Ghatotkatcha

Visited the place for lunch with my family today. The restaurants cuisine is South Indian primarily Andhra, Tamil Nadu, Coastal, etc. The interiors have been tastefully done matching the cuisine they offer. Karnatic instrumental music plays in the background which adds on to a good ambience. Stewards who wore a traditional outfit were courteous and knowledgable. Thali at 699/- seemed like a good deal but we ordered for Malabar parotta with mutton kurma, steam rice with Palakura Pappu (palak dal in layman language) , tawa fry meen (Pomfret) and green salad. Mutton kurma unfortunately had an after taste of half cooked meat taste and smell. Tawa Pomfret fry was ok. The dal and parotta were good. I am rating 3 stars as my expectations were quite high looking at the multi states cuisine in the menu and the interiors but the food was not extraordinary or special.

Even the food was not great. They billed us for more than what we bought. And when I complained they just laughed about it and changed. Never ever go to this place again. Horrible people with no ethics.

Great ambiance, excellent food and amazing service and staff. The quality, variety and quantity of food is too good here. The staff is also very friendly. You have to do advanced booking for here as it is mostly overcrowded. The people who are looking for quality Karnataka food should visit once here.

Good place. The food is good, very palatable, no typical over masala fare. The ambience is great - go leftwards when you enter, the tables there are cozier. The service is examplery, very satisfied. The price is on the higher side but a good dining out experience overall.

While the food was tasty the price of the veg thali was way too much. The lift was not working and the approach through the stairs is pathetic. Being on church street there is a certain expectation of ambience right from the entrance.

Ambience is good. But Karnataka style recipes are very disappointing and bland. Manager who takes the orders doesnt give much information about the dish while ordering. And service is not great. Overall experience was not so good. Its placed in central of Bangalore, Would suggest them to focus on our own Karnataka recipes first as its rich in flavor and spices.

Strictly meant for those who want to explore cuisine from the south of india in greater detail. vegetarians are likely to be disappointed. though there are options. people from other parts of the country will love the variety and range on offer. the dishes are mostly the kind that are traditionally made across homes in states across southern India. extremely good hospitality and great care in presentation. do take visitors to show them the unique flavours and tastes south of the vindhyas

Id recommend to visit in a group so that you can try as many dishes as possible. Loved the menu. My heartfull thanks to the owner/s and mainly the chefs who are making this happen.

Worst hotel ever. Its simple got unwanted hype. They made us wait for 1 hour for thali. They served veg food when we ordered non veg and when asked they stated its complimentary but our food which was ordered wasnt served at all. They served soup after rice n told they forgot to serve it first.Extremely irresponsible staff. Worst management. Most of all they cant differentiate veg n non veg. They only serve finger bowl soon! N still charge you bomb for worst food.Unfortunately its 1 star, cuz I cant rate it in minus.

Is there an option for zero star? They tried to bill us for items we did not order and when we complained the lady manager/owner was very rude. That is not how one interacts with a customer or run a restaurant. Also the service was slow and Entree items do not have any meat in them.
