Yes, its good on quantity of food for 80/- meals (weekdays). However, this is a compact place inside a gully which looks like there were no renovations done in 20 years!I feel this is a overly hyped lunch place in bangalore and not recommend it that much!

Its second generation, now bangalorised Iyer food joint. This 60yr foodie was once a hotspot. The best place near to Malleshwaram cooperative Society and Malleshwaram cooperative Bank.It seats about 30 people. The original Iyer taste isnt available, morphed to suit every walk in. Normally payasam, dal is to be served, ghee is to be served in Brahmins, all are missing. To manage the show, northies are hired along with other outside people. They dont have an iota of traditional etiquette, only exception being plantain leaf for serving food. More of raw pepper is used in sambar and rasam.Compared to other hotels, rate and quality are ok. But missing to match the original Tamil Nadu quality and quantity. Its just another veg food place. But as generations change, only unless traditional people demand and support, the traditional etiquette should be maintained that things will vanish. The aging couple need support.

I ordered a full meal on Swiggy, and was greatly disappointed. Had heard a lot about this place before and decided to try it. The food simply sucked. The quantity was very less. Nothing seemed to have salt in it. For 100rs per meal, I expected quality. I would prefer a darshini hotel over this hyped place. Never order online from this place.

Had been to this place for lunch. Typical south India meals, food taste okay I had expected more with respect to taste. I had very much hungry but after having half of rice I started feeling stomach filled, I doubt they might use cooking soda in the rice. Place can be kept more clean and hygienic, staffs members are from different places they look very careless we need to keep asking them for each and everything. In past I had heard from many people about this place and food. This place might have been good previously. They charge 80 for a meal.

If you are looking for a good south Indian plantain leaf meal, this is a place to go. Good hot food, served at a decent pace. I have been here a couple times in the past. However, during Covid time, I definitely will not recommend this place especially cuz of how crowded the place is with absolutely not even a bit of social distancing and literally at least 10 to 15 people cramped up with a tiny room welcoming the spread of covid like anything and a disaster in the making. If you must go, prepare yourself for the risk. Decent price.

I had visited this place on a couple of occasions, and hence deem its appropriate to comment here. Firstly, as the very name goes, its managed by Brahmins, Tamil Iyers to be precise, but of late, serving & hospitality is all managed by north Indian guys, so while serving the authentic Brahmin style cant be accepted. I had to see a nasty scene while rice was being serviced, the tray in which rice was being carried, was touched onto banana leaf and the curry which the person was eating stuck to the tray and this repeated all through. So, just in case madi (table etiquette) is expected, since its a Brahmin styled mess, its a big no to visit this place.Next, commenting on the taste, its really ok ok, definitely not the veritable Iyer style, its more of localised & customised to appease the tastes of all communities in general.Coming to worth for money, well, its sort of touch-and-go, coz for one medium sized chapati & curry, one scoop of coloured rice / pulav, a ambvade, papad, salad, and bowl of rice, sambar, rasam & finally a small cup or curd, ₹80 I personally feel isnt worth though not costly as I have had lunch in Madurai messes wherein the same menu was a mere ₹50 and they offer not just sambar & rasam, morkolumbu (curd sambar) too and qty of rice was marginally more.My only request, when its tagged as an Iyer Mess, kindly stick to the basics, be it Iyer taste, serving & dishes, we expect the name to be upheld, coz in that case one could drop in to any hotels, why select the brahmin style. I am not at all knocking them down, its a humble request.

Iyer Mess - A very Good and Old Eatery located in the heart of the city of Namma Bengaluru.A perfect pit stop for people out there who are looking into typical Tamil Brahmin food, with a very decent ambience and moderate seating. To be frank this was my visit and was pretty impressed with the food and the service they provide. Few dishes were disappointed i.e) the vegetable curry given with the chapathi was pretty average and rest were good enough. Definitely the white rice, sambar & rasam were top notch 😀

Well, I had heard so much about this one of the older mess in the known vicinity of Bangalore...however, felt disheartened after having the food...while the dining hall seemed like a very old small place but was clean with about 12 to 14 people seating capacity...there was none other than two of us till the time we left.. the meals was served on banana leaf. This is the only thing I liked about. one cabbage subji and a dry chappati (not at all baked properly) with some curd based salad that was so sour and not at all fresh..aloo subji that was so dilute...one papad not at all crips...a huge cup of rice was served with sambar that was steaming hot but did not seem fresh..did not feel like trying the rasam..we just got up and really regretted for having visited this mess and we were extremely hungry after a days long work!! The cost per dinner was 80 Rs. While I am not cribbing of the cost or the variety, would earnestly request the mess owners to take care of the quality and taste of the so called homely simple meals as they boast to be. A small suggestion would be that the servers to be equipped with hand gloves and wear the mask ..they seemed to move all around the place and not at all conscious of cleanliness considering the current situation..

Iyer mess used to be a great place to have proper South Indian meals. I have been going there from 2006 and the price of a full meal was Rs.18 then. Today(Nov 2019), the quality of food has slightly reduced but the Price had increased to Rs.80 per meal. The good thing about Iyer Mess is that the Hot Rice is really good (No Soda added) and doesnt make You feel bloated. But the overall experience has deteriorated a bit.

Visited the place today to check out the much hyped up place - Iyer Mess. Being a Tamilian I was eagerly waiting to try out the traditional Madras Brahmin Sambar, which was definitely good. As we entered the place, (read as dingy entrance) we were doubtful if we were at the right place, we continued as we confirmed. Luckily the wait time was only for 5-8 mins for table of 4 persons. 4 tokens were placed on the table by the steward to block it for us as it was being cleaned. As we occupied the seats, the banana leaves were layed out followed quickly by salt powder, pickle, appalam, dal vada, chapatti, vazhakai poriyal, Kootu, abundantly steamed rice and a small katori of curd, Sambar and rasam were being served as and when requied. The sambar was flavourful and was delicious whereas the rasam was average. Dal vada was crispy and tasty and proved to be a good combination with the meal. Rest of the items were basic. Overall, good place to go to if you dont mind non fine dining environment and whenever you crave for Brahmin Madras food which is economical. For 3 meals we paid Rs.200/-.

Anyone who feels like having homely food should totally try this out. Probably the best place in Malleswaram, maybe all of Bangalore to get South Indian food. Its name is Iyers mess so its understood that the taste kind of has a brahmin touch to it. Its almost always full, you hardly get a place to sit here but its definitely worth the wait. The ambience is certainly not what its known for, they could maybe consider making minor renovations, with regard to the handwash for instance. Ive been here multiple times and Ive never been let down, definitely worth trying. I was here with my grandmother who is definitely kind of an expert in this arena of cooking and she gave her seal of approval so I was convinced that its definitely a great place indeed.
