My family had lunch here. Environment is nice. We had- Tom Yum Talay soup which is strongly sour and spicy;- pineapple fried rice which is very good with sweet pineapple, roasted cashew nut and prawns;- crispy squid which is average and good Mayo sauce;- Pad Talay with combined seafood which is creamy and a little sweet. It is about $25 each person
I’ve been to Thailand, eaten Thai food all over the world and gotta say this place was average. The portions were OK, the food lacked the real spice of Thailand and the usual condiments provided to spice up your food were lacking and when asked for they just bought a small bowl of powdered chilli. The flavours just weren’t there, so it’s an “average” from me. Having said that I was hungry and ate it all as the portion was not generous
Lovely meal everything youd expect from good Thai. Very friendly accommodating staff. We parked here and went for a drink prior to our meal time and they were fine with that just took our plate number.
The food that they served to us wasnt hot and this ruined our dinner. The serving is not great value for money. I will not come back or recommend it. I informed the Maitre D but she was apathetic. We only finished the food as we were very hungry. So disappointing
Havent seen such poor service and attitude in a while. Have been there a few times and the service has been deteriorating. Food is poor but the attitude is unbelievable. Extremely rude and disrespectful. When we complained about service levels the response was appalling. Seemed that all they wanted was us to pay and leave. Could barely wait for us to finish our meal. Would give them zero stars if I could. Not recommended unless people want to get totally insulted. Waste of money but more so time. Should have not spent so much money here with staff making faces. Wish I had read the reviews before going !
Food and service was good. Service was friendly, helpful and inviting and food was served fresh and hot. We opted for takeout since the visit was unexpected. Will we visit again? Yes.
Consistently tasty food and good-sized portions. $8 charge for BYO wine (one bottle) for three of us.
The Thai Archer never disappoints, even after 5 years away from Auckland. We decided to catch up with friends here for dinner and there was parking outside (may no always be the case if they are busy) the decor was well presented, staff attentive and friendly and food was delicious. Can not ask for more at a reasonable price and BYO.
The atmosphere and interior is very cozy and homey. There is sufficient space inside for the amount of tables. Some of the decor were hand-made by family. I find that incredibly cool and it adds a lot of character and history to the restaurant. The staff are always lovely, friendly and attentive. They were kind enough to cater to our Vegan friend and are knowledgeable about the menu when we asked for Vegan options. The food is absolutely delicious! They make my most favourite Satay Chicken dish. We normally have this with the Prawn Fried Rice. Weve ordered other dishes like the Pad Thai, Duck Pad Met Mamuang, Gang Duck, Spring Rolls, Vegan Fried Rice, etc. The portions may look small because of the bowl sizes, but they are very filling, generous with the protein and vegetables and superb quality and quantity for the price. Always forget to take photos because the food looks too scrumptious and we just want to dig in!To our friends at Thai Archer Restaurant, thank you always for your smiles, bestest efforts, kindness, and warmth during our visits. Looking forward to our next visit!
Excellent Food! Tasty and great value.Super helpful and efficient service!
Its great, I celebrate my childs birthday. They are friendly and delicious, and their children and their friends love it.thanks a lot
Perfect food, exquisite and delicious. The environment is first-class and arguably one of the best in New Zealand Thai Restaurant.
Customer service is very good and the guys are very attentive this is why they earn 3-stars. Food though is not too tasty and certainly a FUSION, too sweet. Even if it is clean and tidy unfortunately it is a bit old building.A bit pricey for what you get but in the standard of Royal Oak
Always enjoy my food from here, both take out and dine in never disappoint.
Best pad c ew I’ve seen so far!
If you looking for delicious Thai food with good services, Im recommend this restaurant 👍👍 👍 👍 👍
BEST PAD THAI IN ONEHUNGAYou have gotta try this place! I’m a Thai food fanatic and this restaurant is just devine. I have very specific dietary requirements and added it in the notes when ordering it, and the store promptly rang me to clarify to ensure our food was suitable. This is our new regular, thanks so much Thai Archer!
Better options elsewhere... food and quality below average ☹️
Awesome food, fantastic staff, great environment! Have been here numerous times and never disappointed, will be back again soon!
Liked the food. Phone order and was ready to go when we arrived
Excellent attentive service, food tasty and exactly as expected. My gluten free friend felt confident when choosing. Will come back.
Seemed like every food which came there were microwavedWe had padthai there, padthai was cold in the middleThe rice curry was actually warm but tasted badWorst pad thai i ever hadNo wonder there were not any people in the restaurant at the peak lunch time
Absolutely THE BEST Thai food in Auckland, staff are awesome too!!
Great service and delicious food.
Food is amazing. Soup could be a little bit more spicy but that’s okay as I didn’t specify what spicy I wanted. Added extra sauce/soup to stir fry for no extra cost. Was quick to be ready also.
Average food, staff not very friendly. No coffee available at 9pm as they had cleaned the machine. Distinct lack of training. Not likely to go back.
Fast service felt pressured to order and eat quickly. Food mostly noodles or rice with little sauce a few vege 5 pawns or 4 small mouthfulls of meat; $25. Kiwi style dessert mainly ice cream. Very disappointing and expensive.
Penut sauce curry was tasty😋Love this place for dinner🥰
2nd time I have been here, great food and friendly staff, 👍
Great food and not badly priced
I ate in as part of a group during the week and recently bought a takeaway from this restaurant. I have been coming here since it opened in 1992. Unfortunately the standard of food is not remotely what it used to be. The quality and amount of vegetables has dropped and the chicken was rubbery. There were only three prawns in one of my dining companions dish. The sauce was quite sickly sweet. My takeaway meal was along the same lines which I bought on a Saturday night. The takeaway rice was dry and just baby corn and some cauli. Used to be more greens like brocolli.I recall having a good meal here probably four years ago. I think it must be under different management.
Great service but the food is just too sweet!
Nice. Go try some.
Great food & venue
One of the best Thai restaurants in Auckland.
Thai archer is a favourite in our family, one because the meals are delicious and two, it’s byo! My partner and I shared the chicken satay skewers for an entree and I inhaled mine they were so delicious! And for main I got the veges with satay sauce and you could pick your meat - I chose chicken. The entire dish was delicious! Everyone cleaned out their plates! I usually get the chicken pad Thai with is ALWAYS a winner! Oh and the spring rolls are delicious too! Recommend for a good meal!
Good food, good service. 👍
Great food and service
Fantastic food; excellent flavours and quality ingredients. Staff are very friendly, attentive and efficient. Very popular for eating in and take away
Quiet on Tuesday night but service was good. Food excellent. Parking outside..
Fantastic place, great food and awesome service.Loved the duck
Nice setting, nice hosts, great Thai
The food was medium good but when we request the same dish on second time it was not with same flavour. Just added some more soy sauce Moreover over the service was not great. They were not welcoming the kids. The attitude towards the kids were not that good. The staff were restricted the kids talking louder and playing each other while waiting for the dish. Meanwhile from the other table people where laughing n talking very loud. As a parent I thought of coming out from the restaurant few times because of the staffs attitude or racism. I felt like to advice them to keep a board outside no entry for kids.. I expect more standard from the staff without the discrimination of age , culture and ethnicity. Thank you
Its delicious
The food was mediocre at best for the prices they charge. We ordered a duck dish and Im quite sure the duck meat was not fresh. An expensive snapper dish hardly had any meat on it. Im sure the flavouring they used for the soup was from the Mi Goreng instant noodles (probably use the noodles separately for their noodle dishes). Overall, I dont think they cook fresh and make onsite and their portions are ridiculous. The only reason I gave them one star even is because the staff were very nice and friendly.
Excellent service, great food, lovely atmosphere. Would definitely go back 👍
Very nice Thai meal. Staff very efficient and friendly
I have had several friends say they enjoyed their meals here so had high hopes for my first visit. The wait staff were nice and were attentive to refilling our water glasses. My friend enjoyed her meal. The big disappointment was the vegetarian satay meal. The satay was more like caramelized brown sugar and not like any satay that either I or my friend have experienced anywhere. I was told that the sauce is purchased in. The managers response to my feedback missed a great opportunity to turn me from a disappointed to a delighted customer who would refer new diners.
Thank you so much, the service were very friendly, smiles at all times. Food was done well and very tasty. will defiantly go there again.
Food was far too sweet. But otherwise tasty. If it was less sweet I would have enjoyed it
Beautifully cooked meal and friendly people
Lovely, quaint Thai restaurant. The ambiance reminded me of another great Thai Restaurant I ate at in Salt Lake City in Utah.Great Thai food! The free rice top up was a pleasant surprise. The deep fried snapper (Pla Rad Prik) is off the charts. Needless to say, the only thing that was left of it were the bones. And not much of it. lolI really appreciate how they kept the flavour of the food and barely (if any) adjusted it to suit people with bland palates. :pWill definitely be returning to this little gem!
Oyster sauce was extremely salty, hot spice was more like in between mild and medium. Small portions and even then the rice is extra. No variety in the vegetables - it was literally half onion with a few strips of carrot and baby-corn lying around. Annoying and loud music. No value for money... not coming back.
Service was reasonable. Food was excellent.
Great Thai food. Very well priced. Really enjoyed our meal.
Have to agree with the others re: lack of customer service. Have only been here a couple of times, but was fairly put off by how unfriendly the staff (in general) were...seems pretty snobby here. Id recommend Royal Siam over this anyway (better food and cheaper too)..
Too much sugar in there food
Excellent service and really nice food.
Great food and service. Had a lovely meal. Thankyou.
Time and time again Thai Archer delivers amazing food. Its just sooo good!
Great local Thai restaurant - we come here often because its so handy and good value. Nice enough interior for a casual dining/friends catch up, fast service for takeaways (call ahead though!) and never had a bad meal in 6 or 7 years that Ive been going there. Five stars for a Casual/simple place, and its worth four stars against even the very best places in Auckland.
Beautiful food. A great place to go as a group for sharing dishes
Perfect place for Casual dining. Heaps of seating area. Delicious food and dishes. Nice customer service and friendly staff.
Loved the service and the food was delicious
Worst service I have seen.food is average here but service is the worst I have seen. They just want to rush you out.when we complained about the service the attitude of the person I think the manager was just appalling.she couldnt take it and said yup thats alright. Wasted so much money here. Staff was very rude. Definitely not recommended. Hope they learn basic manners and hospitality before running a service based business.
Thai can be underwhelming but all the dishes were perfectamundo... thats actually a fonzism if anyone actually cares. Happy days.
Used to love this restaurant. Went there with my husband midweek without a booking. When we entered, the restaurant was empty. The hostess asked if we had a booking and looked around as if seating us would be a problem! We were shown to one of the worst tables in the place, facing into a corner. The service was slow and not very friendly. 1 or 2 other parties arrived while we were there, so you would think some walk-ins would be welcome. Wont be going back. There are plenty of other welcoming eateries in the area.
Tasty food, good price. Portion size is large so can last two meals if ordering takeaway. Waiting time can be up to 40mins but they will warn you when ordering. Friendly service
Great food and really fast service with a smile
At a dead end so went here lovely atmosphere food very good, large choice and staff very attentive and help full lovely evening
Food was so yummy and quick to come out! Loved it.
My favourite Thai takeaways in town. My whole family has been coming here regularly over 10 years. Can’t say that about any other restaurant.
Great decor! And the food is to die for!Highly recommend
Food was excellent, staff were very helpful and welcoming. Definitely recommend dining in.
Really good food and service 👌
Always consistently good food. Chicken satay sticks beautiful as is their red curry or green curry . all very good and I would totally recommend the place.
Horrible food.. guys please beware before ordering this place.. it was horrible thai food ever we had.. plz do not spoil ur time and money with these guys..
Presentation was not that good. Serving was too small for the price. Taste was bit salty. Service was great but pricey..
Not as good as it use to be. Service was o.k but one of the waitresses was rude and sighed. I ordered plain chicken kebabs and a side dish of steamed seasonal vegetables that was on the menu (due to food intolerances) only to be told 5 mins later that I can not have the side dish as it was only for other main meals. So asked for it to be added into my daughters yellow curry thinking I could shake most of the curry off. They refused as they said yellow curry is not meant to have vegetables. I find it very frustrating that some restaurants will not cater for these issues. I will not be returning.
I go here regularly for both takeaway and dine in. The food is delicious and the staff are friendly and always checking to see if we need anything. I would definitely recommend this place .
The best thai restaurant in the country. Authentic food and really friendly staff. Coming back soon for sure.
Nice food. A bit expensive for the style of food.
Our childrens favorite thai place :-)
Food is always great. Nice friendly staff.
Poor service and overpriced. Not as good as it used to be.
Definately my last time since foods were too salty or too sweets. But these are not the only reasons. Most important staffs were too rude and impolite.
I live across the street from Thai Archer. The owners are skilled in Thai food, passionate, invested, and take pride in their restaurant. You can find them actively cooking and getting feedback from customers. The prices are reasonable, the food is quality, and the atmosphere is intimate. Give this place a try!My husband and I had the Siew Whan Chicken (Sweet Soy Stir-fried) and the Pahd Thai. Also for appetizers we had Thai Murder Wings and Coconut Shrimp.
Great food good variety nice surroundings great orice
This is a great restaurantNice meals BYO its worth a tryYou will not be disappointed the service is also fast
Good food everytime we go there. Would recommend
