One of my favourite restaurants. Service is always excellent and the food is so consistently tasty. I love getting the steak set. The prawns with the yum yum sauce is a must have! The steak is so tender and the garlic crisps are a great garnish. I normally have a peach chuhai (they have other flavors but this one if my personal fave). The chef on the grill is very attentive.

5/5 might be a touch generous in terms of food but it was pretty good, the service was great and the value of the lunch menu is spot on. So 5 it is.

Today was the first time that hubby and I came to dine at Heizo and it was to celebrate our 44th month being married. It was exceptional, they did not disappoint and we cannot wait to go back and dine here again! Please book well in advance as they only have one teppanyaki table and they get very busy because of the wonderful food, service and skilled chef!Ambiance 5/5 – I’ve never been to Japan, buy hubby has and he said that it is very similar to some Japanese restaurants he’s been in. It’s very authentic he says! I very much enjoyed how intimate and cosy the place is. Loved the interior and the Japanese décor, Lanterns, very cool tapestries by the teppanyaki area and some samurai photos and a sticker on the wall. The mood lighting is lovely and not too dark that I couldn’t see.Food 5/5 – For tonight, we ordered the “Taste of All” set menu. Our most favourite was the Teppan Prawn Appetizer. Mmmm so creamy! Everything was well seasoned and the food came at a great pace! We didn’t have to wait too long for the food to come out, but it didn’t come too quickly that we couldn’t enjoy our time there. The salmon sashimi was nice and soft. The beef was cooked just right! The Matcha ice cream and vanilla ice cream were great endings for the meal (Add extra for matcha) You’d think at firs that the portions are small but we were nice and full towards the end. In our view, the portions are perfect. The only improvement I can think if is to undercook the Ocean Treasure Salmon Filet slightly so it won’t be too dry, but this is just my personal opinion. Everything else was cooked beautifully!Staff and Service 5/5 – All staff members we came across were kind and respectful! The gentleman I spoke to on the phone was kind and provided me with the information I needed before booking. The staff members serving us tonight were also very friendly and were all smiles! They were attentive and filled up our waters as soon as it was finished. They checked on us and asked us if we wanted more rice for our seafood and beef. The chef was very talented and enjoyable to watch! We booked too late but we were lucky enough to be seated somewhere near the teppanyaki table. He looked so passionate and bubbly and I honestly felt like I was kind of still part of the show haha. Can’t wait to be seated in front next time. Very good authentic Japanese family owned and operated restaurant. Cozy and warm atmosphere. Nice friendly chef. Identical to many small restaurants I enjoyed in Japan.

Lunch today was a special treat at Heizo Teppanyaki for my granddaughters 9th birthday. The childrens menu provided a healthy selection of kids favorites.The steak burger and chicken thighs went down a treat with all my four grandchildren. The vanilla ice cream they ordered for dessert was the perfect finish to a deliciously healthy and filling lunch. I had my favorite dish, the succulent prawns done in a tantalizing cream. And I was not disappointed.Excellent food and service always with a smile. The chef and waiting staff are the perfect hosts. The steak is mouth watering and cooked to perfection. The chef was very accommodating with the changes added to the set menu. My guests absolutely loved the whole experience and the intimate setting. A bottle or two of warm saki to wash down all the wonderful flavours is an absolute MUST.Ill definitely be taking more friends and family here for lunch and dinner.

Best Teppanyaki. Always busy, so better to make booking to get seats. I like counter seating as its fun to watch the chef cooking at the front. I tried hamburg stake, prawn, and tofu stake. Everything here are perfect.

We celebratedour sons 13th birthday here. We absolutely loved it and so did he. Amazing Tepenyaki Banana, Scotch Fillet... all the food was amazing and the chef fun to watch.

Have had a very nice teppan Taki dinner. This is a small restaurant best to book to ensure a table. The meat was very succulent and nice vegetables. The prawn were YUM. I had banana teppanyaki with the largest accompaniment of ice cream ever. Cost $$

The food and drama of the cooking was amazing! The temperature was not! This place needs air conditioning in summer. I would definately come back in winter though

First time visitor and totally loved this place. Great space to go with two people - can sit at the counter true teppanyaki style - or for groups of up to about ten at a long table.Highly recommend the set menu where you taste everything. There was nothing on this menu that was not worth tasting - I would have been happy with any one of the things as a main dish. All prepared and cooked beautifully, for a very reasonable price.Friendly and helpful staff, nice atmosphere - I will definitely visit again. :)

Delicious food with exceptional customer service! The atmosphere is just like Japan, the staff are so friendly and respectful as Japanese people are. Even without sitting at the Teppanyaki table you can still enjoy the show! Highly recommend, cost friendly, yummy food (homemade ice cream & sorbet is favoured), and a memorable experience!

Don’t usually leave reviews or give 5 stars when I do - one of the most delightful meals we have had, in or out. Dined with husband; service was genuine, attentive and with a smile. Tasty and delicious. Went for the tasting teppanyaki platter and it was heaps of food. Had seafood, chicken, steak, sashimi, salad, soup, rice... gosh. Staff were great also. Its a homely family owned restaurant.

Omg the wagyu beef is so good, if you havent tried it yet, you MUST! Everything on their menu is delicious, dont waste your money going to other nearby restaurants seriously. Lunch is only $15 and you get SCOTCH FILLET, and all these other stuff like salad, rice soup etc.

We had an amazing experience at Heizo tonight. It has an authentic Japanese feel. The food was incredible and very reasonably priced for what you get. We got the try everything set menu and were very happy. The owner and head chef is very friendly and funny. We will definitely come back. Thank you Heizo

Me and Lab go here atleast once a month its great to sit at the grill and watch our mate cook us a lovely dinner he takes pride in the food he cooks . He tells us about Japanese culture it is very good . I love the prawns with yum yum sauce and a scotch filled.

The food HEIZO offers is amazing; it is fresh ans delicious. But this place is confusingly uncomfortable.Allow me to elaborate: the chef is friendly, fun and very skilled, but everyone else from the rest of the staff to even the customers are rude, obnoxious and weirdly weeaboo. Given that HEIZO is a small restaurant, I couldnt even hear my own family and friends over poorly pronounced Japanese terms and exclamations, which was agitating. Our main goal was to finish the delicious meal to get the hell out of there.It is truly a shame that such amazing cuisine is ruined by the poor service and terrible customers the restaurant attracts. I hope improvements can be made, but I am not hopeful.

Such an amazing hidden gem, the people are fantastic, the food is fabulous and prepared in front of you by the chef. Fresh, simple and generous it have been a delight to be at the table of Heizo. I would strongly recommend to anyone looking for an authentic and welcoming place. Thank you ☺️

Come here if your after a private night and looking for Taste Explosion, such a genuine Japanese Cuisine experience, at an affordable price. The restaurant is surrounded around other businesses and has an easy accessable car park 1 minutes walk from the restaurant. Based in a small family type environment it is child friendly and the chef and wait staff are polite. Such great food!! Bless

Best, good value, steak Ive had in Newmarket. Dont waste your money on some pretentious restaurant with fancy decor that serves bland food (Im talking about the ones in the mall on the rooftop) . Spend your money here.

Great food here, and I like the coziness of the restaurant. Service was good and food arrived pretty fast. The thing that made me quite uncomfortable was that it can get quite stuffy and slightly smokey in there because of the teppanyaki. Other than that, I had a great time here and would consider coming again :)

I am very familiar with teppanyaki before but I have never had a teppanyaki this good before. The teppan prawn appetizer is heavenly and the teppanyaki banana both are the highlights of the meal. With the Japanese hospitality, this place deserve 5 stars

Came here for dinner and had the Salmon Teppanyaki. The Yum Yum prawns were SO delicious, and the salmon sashimi was excellent. Delicious food, highly recommend!

Terrible experience. They stuffed up our booking. Entres came out after mains and they forgot the rice off our meals.They gave us a small discount for all their stuff ups but would definitely not go again nor recommend.

If you want that home feel Japanese food then this place will give you that. Tucked away in a corner nice and cosy. Its not the flashy amazing deco place. But the chef he has that feel good person that you get. Food is ok.

If you want real teppanyaki then this is the place to go. It is a small place but the food and service are amazing.
