Just not worth the money. the exhibition is way too small and I cannot even remember a photo I enjoyed. I am comparing this to the Stockholm photography museum, hence the low rating. The two cannot even compare...
There’s always something engaging on at Foam, and a great collection of photography books in the lobby shop as well. Definitely worth a visit.
Storytelling through photographs. Its definitely worth to visit this place. It will take about 1 to 2 hours to see everything.
Nice museum, and specially, I loved the two current exhibitions together, they make a curious contrast between them and its nice to have it side by side. Its a small place though, I didnt checked it before going but in 1h I was done with everything, and specially because of Covid some parts of it are closed. They are being very careful about the measures, Ive been to many museums after the lockdown and this was the only one asking to use mask inside. Congratulations!
Foam is loveable and truly worthwhile. Small space with impeccable curation, excellent context setting, and clear cultural perspective. Sensitive topics are thoughtfully presented... World cultures, gender politics and representation, accessibility. Foam is an ever-changing experience embracing creative vision and voices.
Really cool and diverse photography exhibit! Wish we could have stayed longer, I guess Ive got to go back.
Great place if you like photography; otherwise its not as accessible for those who cant care much for a political statement through art.If you have 1-2 hours to kill and its too hot or cold outside, and if youre willing to depart from a dozen Euro or so, then by all means I suggest checking out this museum!
Great gallery showcasing high quality shows that are very well presented and curated. The signs are in Dutch and English, with clear descriptions of the work and relevance of the pictures shown. The building is absolutely not adapted for people with mobility issues, with lots of stairs and steps, so be warned. Great value for art and entertainment.
Amazing photographs from artists with various backgrounds. It was a little busy causing crowding in rooms.
Its a good exibition, but its way too expensive for what it offers! The building has no accessibility, the stairs are narrow and they only accept card as a method of payment, this is specially bad for people coming from third world countries who usually do not have a credit card, they could have a totem to buy tickets in cash or find a different solution.the photos in display are really great, but the audioguide functionality is limited to some pieces
So many great exhibitions, love this place.
Went to Foam tdy with my time slot. We felt quite unplrased as it was far too buisy and many people did not weare a mask…corona is not over!! Please improve keep the regulations!!!!
Pleasant reception, quiet environment, carefully catered and displayed art, make a visit a pleasant experience
Superbly curated, regularly refreshed, and elegantly designed, Foam has a well-known earned reputation as one of Amsterdams top photography-specific museums. Part of that is due to Foam Lab, their in-house traineeship for recent graduates (read: new contemporary artists) who have input into constantly renewing the museum from within, guided by a deep and experienced management team. The space itself, the Foam magazine and Foam Editions (heir artwork store) all reflect a genuine commitment to, and elite understanding of contemporary photography.
Wonderful places to appreciate Ai Weiweis masterpiece.
Always had amazing exhibition.
A wonderful place for visual inspiration!!
Good cafe and Nice museum
It was lovely
Not to miss if you love photography. Great works (almost all of them) and relaxed atmosphere to enjoy and contemplate.
Very nice museum
Good selection of photographers, but could improve the presentation and expand.
Nice small museum located in a old renovated canal house with interesting photography exhibitions.Unfortunately it has quite a few narrow stairs and is not really physically challenged individuals friendly
Amazing photography & art gallery in a converted Canal House! Beautiful space to see new exhibitions every few weeks.
One of my favorite places in Amsterdam, very interesting exhibitions
Fantastic! Hard to really say more.
A museum worth visiting, exhibition really meet my standard.
Great little museum in a typical canal house
Very good
Astounding exhibition experience, absolutely worth checking out!
Beautiful conversion of an old townhouse into a utilitarian and beautiful museum. curation has been especially on point recently, and each part of foam doesnt take up any more space than it should. good on you foam, we need more hubs for us artists and photographers.
I truly amazing photo gallery. It stands high above all others I go to and contain some of the most beautiful peices out there
Love this museum, even though the staff behind the counter seem quite uninterested in visitors ;p
A cozy little museum for a one-hour visit. The cafe is very nice!
If you like photo, and everything linked with, you may visit this museum )
Not something importand.AVOID.
Beautiful pictures and videos, as always. BUT: not adapted to corona rules at all. They let in too many visitors per time slot, visitors cannot watch the 25-minute videos (because you block the route for other visitors) and the toilets are closed (we have no people to clean them). Dear FOAM, get your act together!
Must see for €11 euros for all the exhibitions is a huge bargain. The book shop has an excellent selection of amazing books. Buy here.
Always a delight to visit this museum; a real statement in the world of photography. Great cafe too.
The discovery of the day. Perfectly curated, young and fresh. A must visit.
Saw Vivian Maiers photos, an exhibition on how photography has evolved as a medium of depicting nature, many commentaries on the effect of technology on our perception of nature, and ended magnificently with Mali Aruns Paradise. This museum is wonderful, visited on many occasions.
Nice big art exhibition really worth looking round with a nice cafe down stairs
Great space. Fantastic exhibitions and very high quality
Small place but nice exhibition !
Definitely one of the museums you have to visit in Amsterdam. They have some nice free workshops on sundays. No audio guide unfortunately
I saw a wonderful exhibition of Gordon Parks here. And on the second floor was an amazing exhibition of modern artists from Kenia among others.
Interesting photography museum set across various floors and exhibitions.During our visit the exhibits covered much more than traditional photos and had a few experimental items.
Nice place but its all about whats on display. Its like walking through a townhouse with photos hung on every wall.
We saw a temporary exhibition that was quite good, but not big. One floor was closed.
Museum of photography.Everyday 3months new exposition.
Really enjoyable experience. I attended as part of a group workshop for Dutch beginners with explanations and activities in easy Dutch. It’s also great without this
Very receptive and well organized museum. At first it seems small, but do not be fooled.
Short but it’s okay
A nice photography museum, very helpful and very friendly staff
Great place. Interesting exhibition. Not crowded like other more popular museums in Amsterdam.Like it a lot for peaceful mood and state of mind after visit
Mmm
One of my favorite museums! And not too crowded. Exhibitions are well done, always very interesting even if at first I wasnt into the subject/artist. They manage to make me fell in love with the works every time. Nice workshops too.
Interesting place
Totally worthy for your money. They do have regular display from different photographers. If you are into the photography, a worthy place to visit. Check online for discounted tickets. Each floor has a very different feel which lends itself to this being a curated space. Friendly front of house team and a decent cafe.
Great expo (hence the 3 stars) but WHY are the toilets closed, while the restaurant is open? The employees told me to only open the toilet when it was absolutely necessary. People are waiting in line for the timeslot, it’s hot outside and (too hot) inside but I was afraid to even drink water for I could not go to the loo. One can not even wash ones hands. Ridiculous and bad service.
A great photography museum.
Great exposition on Vivian Maier. Absolutely love this museum :)
Great space + photography
Loved it!
Foam is the definition of good things coming in small packages. Its, in comparison to the other museums in Amsterdam, relatively small. However it makes up for this with amazing exhibitions. Currently it has an exhibition on the migration crisis and the stark reality of the situation is laid bare in front of you. It both horrified and moved me, because what you see on the news versus what it actually looks like are two different things and the heroism of the people living through it becomes a lot more apparent. Its unexplainable with mere words, you must see this exhibit if you have the chance. The next exhibition is the entire life and work of Masahisa Fukase and is a bold and brilliant collection that defined Fukase as one of the best of his generation. Its both playful and meloncholic in the same frame, an incredible show of skill and imagination. These two exhibits I loved and would easily go back twice for. Please check out this powerful museum. As well as that, the price is only 11€ for adults and it was not crowded at all when I went there. Give it a go!
Interesting museum for photography and movement art lovers, great cafe downstairs
Just the right size to spend an hour looking around. Some photos for all tastes. The building itself is worth a visit!
My favorite museum. Mind blowing both visually and emotionally.
Been here numerous times and it never disappoints! Current exhibits are amazing. Kudos to the curators.
I like this museum. Sometimes a bit to conceptual.
Interesting photo museum with changing exhibitions every few months.
Beautiful place, friendly staff. The Wright Morris exhibit (until April 2020) genuinely blew my mind. Dont miss it.
Its okay.
Beautiful exhibition, totally worth a visit if you are into photography! The building itself is something to see, its kind of a maze, but its nice to discover it, and the exhibitions are great! Its really big...you will need a little bit of time for visiting!Totally recommended
Excellent museum with interesting exhibition, very contemporary and on point. Not too big so you can spend an hour or two and enjoy it.
