City High School is the best school in Aligarh. The fees here is as much as fifty to hundred times (yes, 50-100 times) less expensive than the best private schools of Aligarh. Yet this place has far better, far more qualified teachers than those schools.However, students have to face cutthroat competition to get an admission here.

The school started in 1889 in an old building by Maulana Bahadur Ali and his associates and wasinitially named as Anjuman-e-Islamia Primary School which later on became Mohammadan Anglo Oriental Collegiate, City Branch in 1919 and then became Muslim University City H School. The School then shifted to its present building in 1928.Sahabzada Aftab Ahmad, Maulvi Samiullah Khan, Maulvi Abdul Khalique, Deputy Habibullah Khan, Abdul Majeed Khwaja and Alhaj Obaidur Rehman Khan Sherwani are some of the prominent figures who were close associates of Sir Syed Ahmad Khan and contributed a lot to the establishment of the school. Maulana Tufail Ahmad Manglori was the first founder manager of the school. The school has been catering the educational needs of the Aligarh City population particularly belonging to under privileged, middle and lower middle classes of the society.At present there are approximately 1504 students on school’s roll. The school prepares students for Secondary & Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination conducted by Aligarh Muslim University Board. The school serves as the feeder institution of the University for higher education. The students are given tutorial/remedial class facility, counseling and preparation for National Talent Search Examination, Science and Mathematics Olympiad. Our students are also exposed to external environment through tour/excursion.

Old school of Aligarh but now this is under AMU.. Excellent campus and teachers.. Good quality education and all activities.. But the main problem is hostel for small students.. So university authorities should look into the matter..

A great school which is very good. Mr Badrul Islam was the principal on that time, when I was in 9th n 10th in 1989-1991. He was a very strict principal wearing goggles. Mr naim sahib was biology teacher. Mr noorul bashar was math teacher. Guruji hindi padhate the. Bahut umdah lajawab the hamare teachers. God bless them all.
