Loved to see such an old monument still standing firmly and well maintained. Just a piece of advice, try to keep some guides who can explain a bit more about the history and can also earn their livelihood. The road leading towards the monument need some signages and widening. Parking spaces are also absent

Sarkhej Roza is a mosque and tomb complex located in the village of Makarba, 7 km south-west of Ahmedabad in Gujarat state, India.Although there are many rozas across Gujarat, the Sarkhej Roza is the most revered. Sarkhej was once a prominent center of Sufi culture in the country, where influential Sufi saint Shaikh Ahmed Ganj Baksh lived. It was on the saints suggestion that Sultan Ahmed Shah set up his capital on the banks of the Sabarmati, a few miles away from Sarkhej.

An architectural marvel that stands still since 1400 AD.A must visit to understand the crafts and hard work of the Craftsmen in those days. The carvings and stone works will leave you dumbstruck.PS - Women are not allowed inside without a shawl or duppatta covering your head. So its better to carry one with you. You can also use the ones they have at the entrance counter.

The place is beautiful but I dont think its very well maintained. The path that leads to it is also not great. But the place is amazing if you are a fan of history. This is a monument that has a mosque, tombs of sufi saints and royalty of the past. A huge, square man made water tank is attached to the monument. When I visited the water tank was empty. The mosque is huge too. Entering the monument, one needs to place shoes in a slotted shelf. A security overlooks the shoes and charges a pittance for securing them. The area around the monument is being developed and I noticed many apartment complexes coming up. The monument is connected by a modern highway to the airport. There was some confusion about where photos could and couldn’t be taken so I played safe and only used my camera outside the tomb complex and mosque. Ladies do need to have their heads covered in the tomb complex’s and are not allowed into the inner mausoleum

600 year old historic spiritual place having the Jeeva Samadhi of a Sufi Saint. Come and here seek divine blessings, as his name Ganj Baksh means bestower of treasures. We can also see wonderful Indo Persian architecture here. Must visit for any tourist coming to Ahmedabad.Sad to notice poor maintenance of such heritage site. Request fellow Indians to preserve such historic monuments and maintain cleanliness. Dont damage such treasures we have in our country, which can be converted into potential tourism attractions in future.

Story of the Gujarat Sultanate told in stones, it houses tombs of Ganj Baksh, Mahmud Begada, Rani Rajbai and others. The Jama Masjid adjoining it is an epitome of simple elegance. And the Ahmed Sar Lake with Kings Palace and Queens Palace at its edge is breathtaking. There is also a library with important books and information on the history of Sarkhej Roza and related topics.Prefer visiting this at sunset. However, the entire place - more so, the Ahmed Sar Lake needs utmost care and preservation.

A mausoleum in memory of Hazrat Shaikh Ahmed who was the Friend of Sultan Ahmed Shah of Gujarat. He left Ahmednagar and spent his later life here. The place is on outskirts of Ahmedabad. A Dargah which has a fusion of Islamic,Hindu & Jain Architectural Styles,It has a Masjid, Tombs of the Saint in one building and Ahmed Shah along with his Son and Grandson in another. There is a Central Tank of the size of a proper Football Stadium which has got steps on all 3 sides but remains empty throughout the year. The maintenance needs to step up seriously.

This is a final resting place of a famous and great Sufi Saint popularly known as Sarkhej Roza. As Sarkhej remain a religious and Sufism cultural centre in Gujarat. Hazrat Shaikh Ahmed Khattu R.A. was from Patan and he was a friend of Sultan Ahmad Shah and Advisor too. On his advise the Bhadra Fort was built close to Sabarmati. Sarkhej Roza is a grand shrine complex and followers are visiting from all over the world. He died in 1445 AD. In this complex the tomb of Sultan Mahmud Begada and his two sons also of Rani Rajbais simple but elegant tomb is situated. Sarkhej library is quite informative and Jami Masjid is an architectural marvel. One must visit this heritage.
