Amazing experience! Late evening we enjoyed this ultra modern whimsical underground art gallery which I was very keen on experiencing! I admire ancient as well as modern architecture and once something catches my interest, there’s no stopping me 😅Amdavad ni GufaThe gallery is called gufa (cave in Gujarati) because of its resemblance to a cave.It was known earlier as Husain-Doshi ni Gufa, after its architect, B.V. Doshi, and the artist, M.F. Husain. Later it was renamed after the city of Ahmedabad, known locally as Amdavad. It is located inside Ahmedabad university.The structures contemporary architecture draws on ancient and natural themes. The domes are inspired by the shells of tortoises and by soap bubbles. While visiting Ahmedabad, Husain asked his friend Doshi to design a permanent art gallery for the exhibition of his works.Together they planned an underground structure capable of withstanding the areas severe summer heat.Some pics of this unique & wacky structure is here for you to enjoy. 😀😍

Located in lush green environment of Gujarat University, the place offers pleasant experience to spend time with your loved ones/friends.Seating arrangement is beautiful.One can sit in chair or can sit any where on stairs in the open ground.Also there is an art gallery inside it and book stall.Surrounding area is so nice that people are coming for walk also due to peaceful environment and no traffic.Overall a good place for outing.

An art gallery made in the memory of the great MF Hussain. Very unique place to visit especially during a good exhibition. The place and the ambiance is amazing. It is accompanied by a cafe which is also very good. The artwork kept here is amazing. The structure of the gallery is also unique. It is a cave like structure just as mentioned in the name.

Cafe with the Exhibition of Art. Pleasant place. Cafe are is Opening from 4-8 pm. If you want to sit in the cafe area premises then you have to compulsorily order something from the cafe. If you want to sit on the stairs area then its up to you weather you want to order something or not.

Most attractive place for Ahmedawadi and tourister. Ahmedabad Ni Gufa is an underground Art Gallery in Ahmedabad. It designed by the architect Balkrishna Doshi. You can do amazing photography here. Outside food zone is fantastic, I like chocolate shakes most, also surrounded by lush green trees and a must visit. Inside the gufa one can click amazing pictures. Also this place is very quiet from inside. It is a unique concept. Inside work on walls is done by famous indian painter Mr. Maqbool Fida Husain. Nice place to spend good time.👌👌👌

Amdavad ni gufa is an art gallary known for its founder Balkrishna Doshi and for MF Hussain hosting his art work here in past. Artistic cave like structure gives another reason to visit this place.This has been pretty much the same from the time I visited it 20 years back. Its less touristy place and has its own aura. Now a days it is maintained as a monument.If you are an art lover then this place is must visit. There is a cafe and one working art gallery witin the campus which adds up charm to the place.Cost: The entry to is free for Amdavad in gufa and for the art gallery within the campus.Timing: It is open between 4pm to 8pm. Closed on Monday.P.S. There is art work in abundance in this surrounding. L.P. Hutheesing art gallery is another place very closeby to this place, which hosts many art exhibition.

Part of the CEPT campus, this undulating structure catches the eye. It is designed by Ar. B.V. Doshi to display art works of artist M.F. Husain. The structure looks like underground caves and has influences from temple architecture, the columns which look like tree barks have been inspired from Stonehenge. This is a unique art gallery and is definitely a must see if youre in the vicinity!

Gufa means Cave, this place is underground art gallery structure has roof top made of many interconnected domes supported by tree like structures. Good place to visit.

The actual cave (gufa) is quite beautifully painted by the Late MF Hussain. Good photo ops and very peaceful if you skip the crowds. I was told they have events in there too. The neighbouring art gallery showcases young artists. Highlight is the cafe with its pizza and juices in an open garden area with the background music of peacocks , if you are lucky you may spot them too.

We did drive to the gufa but it was so ugly that we didnt even walked in there. We just took a look from outside and came back!

Gufa is classically well decorated and its an artificially constructed gufa but without any artificial ventilation. What you like is the outside area of this Gufa which has a small gallery, cafe and outer space. This place is more beutiful at evening.

Also Community Science Center (CSC) is in this campus. Games and scientific experiment for intelligent public are in Community Science Center. I have visited so many times. Nice place for friends and couples.

Amdavad ni Gufa .....Its an underground art gallery in Ahmedabad.Designed by the architect B V Doshi, it exhibits works of the Indian artist M F Husain. The gallery represents a unique juxtaposition of architecture and art.The cave-like underground structure has a roof made of multiple interconnected domes, covered with a mosaic of tiles. On the inside, irregular tree-like columns support the domes. It was earlier known as Husain-Doshi ni Gufa.

It is a wonderful underground exhibition space. there is a nice exhibition gallery adjacent to it which is scheduled for regular art works.
