(Visited in January 2021) - A small temple dedicated to Lord Shiva that has a lot of mythological & historical significance. The idol, discovered during by chance digging is an inverted Shiva Linga, a rare one and is almost a few hundred years old.

A unique temple where Eeshwara is upside down. Access is a little cumbersome, through narrow village roads. However, temple has good parking. Very calm and peaceful temple.

I found that this temple has an ancient history longer than famous pancharam lingalu.... And its the only temple we know that has SHIVA IDOL INVERTED

Shakteeswara Swamy temple is a famous temple dedicated to Lord Shiva situated at Yenamaduru - 5 kms from Bhimavaram , West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh. In this temple, the idol is in Seershasana (upside down) along with Parvathi Devi in sitting posture with Subramanya Swamy in her lap as a 3 year old child on the same pedestal.The temple was built during the East Chalukyas . During the conquest and invasion of the Kakatiya Empire by the Delhi Sultans in the 12th century, many temples and villages were invaded - the Shakti Shrine was also attacked and turned into a ruin. It was later rebuilt by centuriesAccording to the legends, the demon Shambasura after receiving the boon from Lord Lord Siva started troubling Sages and he can only be killed by Yama Dharma Raja. Sages approached Yama Dharma Raja and Yama Dharma Raja started battle with the demon. The battle went on for years and Yama lost the battle. To seek more power, Yama did penance for Lord Siva; however, as Lord Siva was in Sirsa Asana posture, Lord did not respond to his prayers. Knowing this Goddess Parvati gave Yama the additional powers with which he Killed the demon. On Yamas request, Lord Siva manifested here in Yoga posture with His Consort Parvati and son Subramanya. As Siva manifested here with Shakti, this temple was called by Shakteeswara.The idol in this temple is in the form of Sheershasana bangima alon with Sri Parvathi Devi sitting beside Lord Shiva with his 3 month old son Sri Subramanyeswara Swamy guarding his Husband. There is a pond in front of this Sri Shakteeswara Swamy temple. It is also said that an underground waterfront travels by this region from the Ganga River so this Temple is also called as Dhakshina Kasi.

In this temple, we can see Lord Shiva doing tapas by sitting upside down, along with Parvathi devi, with her 3month old Sri Subramaniya swamy. There are some interesting facts about the temple, which can be explored. We visited the temple during lunch time, even though the temple kurukal was not there, the doors of temple were kept open in such a way that, the lord can be seen from outside. The temple is situated in Vijayawada to Bhimavaram route.

This temple is the 22nd in the series of Tevara Stalams located south of the river Kaveri. Presiding deity Sakthivanesvara is a form of the Hindu god Shiva, in which his usual worship symbol the Lingam is hugged by his consort Parvati, hence he is also known as Sivakozhundeesvara and Sakthi Mutham.From the act Lord and Goddess ,it is believed that if one prays to Sakthivanesvara with faith, is blessed with the life partner of their choice.

Sri Shaktiswara Swamy with Sri Parvati, Yanamdurru village, West Godavari district. This is a rare temple.

This is the temple of Sri Shaktiswara Swamy in the village of Yanamadurru in the West Godavari district. It is located at a distance of 5 km from Bhimavaram. The temple dates back to the Tretayuga and was excavated hundreds of years ago. Not only that. Lord Shiva hangs upside down as if in a yoga sleep. The turban stays on the ground. It is said that Ammavare herself went on the wish of the devotee without disturbing the meditation of Lord Shiva. This place was consecrated by Yamuna and was called Yamuna Puram.

Swamis who have not been seen anywhere in our country, pay obeisance here on the head seat.

Yanamadaru is the only Shiva temple to perform Lord Shivas penance

Yamudu comes here to slay the demons and fights with the demons for a long time.
