If you like large portions then the Fox could be your dream destination. Personally thats not my thing. The service was fine. Its a large and somewhat anonymous interior. We went for Sunday lunch but I ate for the week. Not bad value.

Im sure Alan would have given us a warm welcome instead of sarcasm if we didnt have to wait for over an hour for our order, very disappointing as never had issues on previous visits

It is a nice pub and the food was good. Unfortunately they seemed to be having an off day and everything took an age. Not reflective of them in general but a bit disappointing today.

My first visit and was made very welcome by all of the staff from the moment we walked in until we left. Looks like the pub has been recently refurbished and has been done to a good standard. Food was great too so overall would recommend.

Stopped on spec for an evening meal. Staff friendly & helpful. Venue & facilities clean. Good parking. Food very nice. Happy to go again.

VERY pleasant reception upon going in .Service great Food was yum! I had a chicken liver pate with a complementary salad,PROPER butter and a nice piece of crusty toast and a delightful chutney .Not too expensive either.My friend was delighted with her fish and chips,too. .A huge piece of fish in batter it was.Then we had some equally yummy icecream .

Droped in for a Drink, first time there. Seemed very nice, vibrant, clean with a nice atmosphere. Great for small and large groups, family and friends. I didnt eat, but it was busy and the food looked good. Will book a table there soon.

This place is literally a hidden jem! I didnt even know it existed I booked a meal for 7 4 adults 3 children absolutely beautiful food perfectly cooked totally delicious the menu has something for everybody even the kids finished their meals and they are hard to please the drinks menu was very impressive including a cocktail menu the staff were outstanding nothing was to much trouble when asking for assistance I love this place I will definitely be back

Its okay nice place with nice food but the kitchen closes at 5.30pm (I went on a Sunday) there is no childrens menu available to see, it is a bit overpriced for the amount of food you get-smaller portions than expected. The staff was polite though and friendly

Birthday lunch for 5. Good range of meals on the menu. Food was good but service was a little slow unfortunately. Maybe only one chef in the kitchen and the restaurant was quite busy considering it was mid afternoon. However we would go back.

Massively disappointed. Started with nearly every order being wrong. Missed a starter off the order even though it was the first one to be given across, then eventually when it came it was clearly rushed as over 50% of the mussels werent open. We then got our mains which had clearly been sat waiting so one of the roast beefs were over done (menu says served pink) none of the roasts came with the sauces (horse radish and cranberry) carrots were supposed to be honey roasted...they were just boiled sliced carrots. We ordered two cauliflower cheeses as sides, where the other sides came out on time with the meals these hadnt. We had to find a passing waitress and ask for them, supposedly they were being made.... they came out when we had almost finished our mains. After no one came to clear the table or offer us anymore drinks we had to go to the bar and ask for the bill which then took about 10 minutes as they were alone trying to prepare a drinks order.The main positive is that its very dog friendly at least!! Feel really sorry for the serving staff, clearly being let down by poor staffing levels. Such a shame because the food menu looked amazing and it was so quiet by the time we actually ate, there really wasnt many people in there at all for a Sunday evening at 17:30.

Went to the fox last night for a wedding reception in the barn, situated on the side of the main building, beautifully decorated and was very welcoming. The staff were lovely and the buffet consisted of both hot and cold food was excellent very tasty and plentiful . We will return next week to the restaurant

This place has had a recent makeover, unfortunately in 2020 it was flooded very badly and had to be refurbished. The interior looks great, the service excellent and the food is superb! Excellent to see a pub getting back on its feet after such an event and then compounded without being to open during the start of Covid.

A poor, over priced meal. 8 in our party, pub was pretty empty, a choice of the main menu and 3 choices of the desert menu not available. Very disappointing meal, you could see why pub was empty as people vote with their feet.

Visit on a Thursday lunch time. Both my wife and I chose items from the chefs specials (Sea Bass and Hake) both were well cooked and delicious .Very good service and friendly staff.Will visit again.

Could not fault the service. The two main meals were poor. My wife had the hake with seafood chowder. To be fair, the hake was good but the chowder .... one scrawny, over cooked mussel, two shrimp size prawns of the same quality and all luke warm. My gammon was the smallest I have ever been served, anywhere, and the rind was rubbery - not crisp. This meal was also luke warm. Not a great experience.

Lovely food, shocking service. We reserved a table at 3:30pm for Sunday lunch for 4. There was a short wait whilst we queued to get in and be seated as the desk at the entrance wasnt manned. Once seated we waited just over 15 minutes before anybody came to even take our order. We ordered our drinks and food at the same time, the food arrived 15 minutes later, before wed even had our drinks. Table was cleared promptly (only bit of good service) and we were offered the dessert menu. After waiting 20 minutes for anyone to come back to take our order, I went to the bar to order desserts there. Unfortunately the bartender didnt seem capable of taking a food order and just kept telling me that the only option was a brulee cake, which wasnt even on the menu. Decided to go back to the table to see if we could get anybody elses attention. After sitting there for another 10 minutes and calling various waiters/waitresses over and being ignored, we gave up. We all got up to leave, without any of the staff batting an eyelid. Could have quite easily not paid (not something I would do, dont worry). All of the tables around us were all complaining about the shocking service. A couple sat on a table next to us were seated for over half an hour before anyone took their order. A family were also waiting for at least 20 minutes and only for served after asking multiple times. The food is really nice, but unfortunately not worth the waiting around and the frustration of being ignored by multiple members of staff.

I dont know what has happened to The Fox. Our recent visit was the worst service I have ever experienced.Staff wondering around looking like theyre lost and definitely not the friendly faces were used to seeing. We waited a while to be seated for our 3pm reservation with a queue forming out of the door. We had our drinks order taken when the drinks came a drink was missing, we then waited upwards of 10 minutes to receive the pint of coke which was missed. Something wed typically just let go but with todays service and overall experience, was hard to do. Also when initially placing the order, we asked for a drink that they had listed on the app to be told they didnt have it and for the waitress laugh it off oh yeah, a lot of the stuff we have listed on the app we dont actually have... Good job we didnt order through the app although it may have given us better service... When asking for other options, she advised that they had beer and ale not providing the draft options but needing to go check then coming back over to say they had an IPA and two other ales.Our food order was taken after we received the missing drink, short wait which was unexpected as it was fairly busy, we had a chicken burger and beef burger come out with one of the waitresses who just presented them both as burger staring at us blankly and not saying anything else. Meals were put infront of us without the staff even speaking or asking whos was whos. Then one of the meals were missing.. Seems to be what ever we ordered last was missed off and never ordered. The manager came over to ask again what the missing meal was, it was shrugged off and we were told it was missed off the order. Upon complaining as we all came to eat together so we didnt really want to start our meals without the last one considering that we already had a drink missed and the service wasnt exactly helping for a good experience, the manager got frustrated and was very short with us, went back into the kitchen to reappear again a couple of minutes later asking to confirm the order for the 3rd time.When all the food did arrive, mine was warm with sloppy presentation. The beef burger had part of the top bun missing. We were never asked if we wanted any extras like sauces etc. After the small complaint we were pretty much just ignored for approximately 25 minutes or so. When asked if everything was okay we asked to speak with the manager again as were were unhappy with the food and service as a whole. No apology, we asked for several meals to be taken off of the bill which was agreed to avoid causing a scene.We finished our drinks and waited for the bill, the bill didnt arrive so we waited by the POS system to be walked passed by staff around 8/9 times for the manager to eventually come over to settle the bill.I have had nothing but amazing experiences at the fox, we go very often and was extremely confused by the recent reviews but they are correct. The staff are unapproachable, rude and do not treat you like paying customers. We felt more of an inconvenience and a family meal we had all been looking forward to was a pointless waste of time with one person not having eaten anything at all. Do not waste your time, go elsewhere.

Excellent, we arrived earlier than we had booked, but they accommodated us in the garden as we asked. Ample portions of the meals we ordered. Used our Tesco vouchers which took care of most of the bill.

Amazing food. But we had this waiter that we got the confirmation for our booking and the waiter didnt look proparly and said we didnt book. But he gave us a table anyway. When we ordered the waiter came with the wrong food. They put it back to the kitchen and prepared the right order in 5 mins. And then i asked for lemonade and they gave me sparkling water. And guess what.. the same waiter served us as the one at the door!But overall amazing!

Usually happy with it here but after our visit today 01/08/21 I would never return, absolutely awful service from beginning to end.Turned up for our reservation 3PM, stood at the door for nearly 10 minutes until someone came to show us to our table in which time a couple of waitresses walked past saying someone will be with us shortly, not a great start but I can let it go.We are then seated, someone finally comes to take our drink order, I had checked their app before visiting to see their menus bearing in mind this is the app you can use to order your food and drinks direct to the table, on arrival was told jokingly haha yeah a lot of the stuff thats on the app we dont actually have hardly funny that is it? So if you order through the app theyd just come over and tell you they dont have it? Pretty poor.Then after that still manages misses one of the drinks.. Once again not the end of the world, although youd expect them to rectify this rather quickly, another 10 minutes later the drink turns up that was missing and asked to take our order.We place our order, 25 minutes later the food comes out, the staff are about as charismatic and pleasant as a wet bath sponge, the one girl walks over bearing in mind our table of 6 ordered 3 different burgers, just stands there looking at us with two plates of food and says burger? I mean come on? One was a chicken burger and one was a beef burger, hardly a difficult thing to mention regardless of your training, you could tell she didnt want to be there and the fact she had to serve us was an inconvenience to her day, not to mention we was not the only table to complain about her.Then oh what a surprise.. They forgot one of the meals which they was happy to say straight away, oh sorry we forgot the fish and chips well do that now for you the staff are useless, unapologetic, unsympathetic and shouldnt be working in customer service. Bearing in mind they came back twice after replacing the order to ask if it was mushy peas or garden peas, so it took them 4 attempts to bring out a battered fish, chips and some mushy peas, beyond a joke.The manager then comes over as by this point we are ready to leave and go elsewhere, forgot her name which is a shame because she was vile, argumentative and a poor attitude, pointer could really do with some managerial training to deal with customers.We managed to leave with them clearing the table quickly to get us out and managed to only pay for the drinks, so in the space of our visit they managed to serve me a poor pint of San Miguel because I couldnt have the beer that I wanted as their app showed stuff they didnt even have haha! So funny....Id avoid this place at all costs, massively gone down hill recently, used to visit fairly recently didnt recognise a single member of staff, must have lost a lot of the long serving quality staff. The burger? girl who we complained about apparently used to work in the kitchen so hasnt had much training. Great excuse.Ill never return to this poorly run, poor attitude staff establishment ever again, the waiters cant even remember what pints are on draught, avoid.

Warm and friendly atmosphere, attentive staff one hell of a transformation from a previous visit. Food was good and served hot with ideal sized portions . Our server was Roxy and you would have a job to find a more helpful staff member. Only issue was the family from hell two tables away whos kid spent the evening screaming. When they departed it was a enjoyable evening.

Absolutely great first time visiting since covid the food is amazing 👌and really tasty really nice pudding for dessert would definitely recommend garden area also very nice staff friendly and polite with a warm welcome will defo be going again very soon 🙂

Had a roast dinner here for 1st time today while out for are sunday lunch driving past decided to stop as thought it looked a lovely country pub .there roast potatoes were awful they were more like fried chips/wedges.Plus when order roast dinner we were not aware that the roasties ,yorkshire were included on your dinner as its listed below when ordering we was not told when order at the bar.When food arrived to the table and i mentioned it to the young girl she didnt seem bothered or when i asked about the so called roast potatoes .However had the crumble for desert and that was really nice.

Excellent service, friendly staff and the choice and quality of food excellent. Looking forward to returning for Fathers Day celebration.

Beautiful pub, nice staff and lovely food

Food was okay, but thought the portion sizes and type of food they sell wasnt value for money. Although it wasnt their fault due to current lockdown rules not allowing anyone to eat inside, it was cold outside and it didnt take long for the food to go cold. There werent enough tables with heaters.

Reasonably priced, great sized roast dinner portions, Cauliflower cheese not very cheesy. more like just cauliflower.Creamy mash not very fresh either, hard exterior like had been sat under a lamp for 2 hours.

Just visited the The Fox for the third time since it reopened. The food is very good and varied. We felt very safe with Alan and his staff very attentive. Would certainly recommend this place.

Had a lovely fish and chip meal here today.The other members of the group had lamb.Was served by a lovely waitress who was very attentive.As always, recommend and will return at some point after lockdown.

Had Sunday late lunch . We were offered the choice of waitress service or ordering through our phone , we chose waitress and were not disappointed, plenty of social distancing did not feel uneasy at all .Food was good we had Roast pork with all the trimmings and good portion for me as personally I dont like food piled high on my plate , I had bakewell tart for pudding my husband had Apple and blackberry crumble , the waitress rushed our order through, as we had to be somewhere else and were running late. All in all a very pleasant time .

Lovely pub with a great selection of beers and spirits, the food is excellent, we often go there when we visit my wifes dad Albert Philpin and stepmum Rachel, well worth the visit.,, just a up date to my review staff are helpful and polite and operate in a professional manner with covid 19 regulations, for me a safe place to chat have a beer or a meal , roll on Easter and being back up there.

A lovely extra clean pub. Cosy with a lig fire and warm atmosphere extremely covid safe and plenty of space between tables. Lkvely friendly staff definitely will be going back very soon.

Service is very good, staff are all friendly. My hunters chicken was really nice. I am gluten free and did not have any bad effects. I had crumble with vegan ice cream as i am also lacto free and it was very nice. Definitely somewhere i would eat again

We came for a family celebration the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming the service was excellent. We have grandchildren and the meals came out with the starters as requested nothing was too much trouble the food was in good proportions and very tasty. Over all a very good evening. We will be visiting again . And recommend to our friends

Took the walk from the fold down to the Fox, about an hours walk. Orderd the sharing platter for lunch which was delicious. Just the right amount for two to share. Dog friendly and a lovely seating area outside. Inside is decorated lovely. Friendly staff to.

We ate here for Christmas dinner. There were 9 of us in total during the busiest seating of the day. The staff make the experience personal, they were prompt and attentive. For the money we paid we cannot fault the service here. A slight error in one of the orders was very quickly rectified. No complaints - cant wait for next year!
