Nice food in such a great spot. Amazing views of the waterfront along with music. Family friendly so the best spot if you want to tick many spots in your list. Good customer service!

Atmosphere was really nice, staff were really friendly, the food was average it didnt take me to Italy but the place and everything else was nice .

Finally a place that does decent Italian food! Not that expensive, kids meal was large enough to feed an adult. Friendly wait staff and primo service.

Nicely presented Italian food especially their Pizzas, Veal with tasty mushroom sauce, and eye fillet steaks!! Medium-small sized portions only!! Their tiramisu desserts are beautiful 😋 😘Our waitress was amazingly attentive. The food came out fast. But the Manager with his worried face was at times rather off putting!!🤔😒

Friendly professional waitstaff. Good gluten free options. Almost all pasta dishes can be made gf on request. The food is of consistent quality and presentation. I had the marinara pasta with pomadoro sauce. My guests had clam pasta and bacon and mushroom pasta. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and will be back.

Great location on the waterfront. Food wasn’t great. Felt very basic and didn’t feel authentic. Price didn’t match the food that came out. Staff were really friendly and the atmosphere was good.

Garlic bread was lovely, very disappointed in the lasagne, tasted good but I could have done the same with a jar of Dolmio, herbs two spoons of mince, very large dollop of mozzarella, sprinkle a few herbs and pop in the oven. No pasta whatsoever, yuk. Not as authentic as I thought it would be.

Portofino is just the name. Food is really simple not much flavor going on in there but was acceptable. However the staff was friendly and good but not the manager or whatverver was his rol, person in charge or something like that. He was really unprofessional shouting from one end to the restaurant to the other and kind of dancing, wearing simple clothes not according to to the place. The building is so nice with spectacular views but unfortunately the food and service isnt what you expect when you walk pass by this restaurant. Average prices.

Husband and I had dinner here for our 10th wedding anniversary. The risotto di pollo and penne al forno were delicious. The profiteroles were so light! Bellini cocktails are a new fave.Staff were attentive and friendly.We look forward to dining here again soon!

Very average and overpriced. Better to go somewhere like Pizzeria Napoli for truly good pasta.The only thing great about this restaurant are the breathtaking views of Wellington harbour.

Owner continues to be preoccupied with larger tables rather than smaller customers, we visited as a family of four last visit. spent $136 this time 2 entree 2 mains 2 dessert 4 cranberry drinks. in my opinion only main was worth the price everything else below average. broken toilet handles and needs a dust especially in the bar area.

The main dishes were lovely, but I ordered the panna cotta for dessert. I asked a waitress what the flavor was, and was told it was vanilla. The panna cotta came and there was berry compote on top. Unfortunately I really don’t like berries, and the texture was lumpy, very unlike what panna cotta should be like.I went to the manager and he was very passive aggressive in nature and raised his voice saying that the berries were a garnish and there’s no need to let us know what the garnish is (which is a food safety hazard from an allergen standpoint). It was a very unpleasant experience and entirely unlike what excellent hospitality should be like. The panna cotta should have a description of what the compote was, and the texture was not smooth at all. I dont think I wouldnt minded that much if he hadnt patronized me.In addition, I specifically asked the manger to place candles on my friends profiteroles as it was her birthday, but the desserts came and he failed to do so.All in all it was a very unpleasant experience to be treated that way.

Food and service were good. Tiramisu was a bit lacking with the coffee soaking. Needed a spoon with the arancini given the amount of sauce, yummy though.

What a truly awful experience and I can only imagine thats why there was no one in their on a beautiful sunny Saturday. My veal marsala was as bland and tasteless, much like a dry kitchen sponge. But wait, theres more; I also was able to sample 2 pieces of black plastic with the sauce. What a treat. My wifes gnocchi was just as bland. Thankfully, Wellington has many other waterfront restaurants.2 words to sum this place up: Caveat emptor

The staff are excellent. The setting is excellent. The view is excellent...The food is average to good Italian. It lacks the soul required for really good Italian experience. The cocktail list made us all laugh and we had a round of blast from the past cocktail from the early 90sAll in all reasonible but not for the foodies or those seeking fine dining.

There for a birthday party. Staff a bit confused re serving food. I had the chicken cacciatore it was excellent. Had a private area so it was a good area for a get together

Great service and location. I had the steak and it was cooked beautifully. No one in our party of 14 had any problems with their meal and all enjoyed it. Would highly recommend.

Nice food, the only complaint would be that the roast pork was a bit dry.

Had the seafood platter for two. Unfortunately it looked better than its taste. Very soggy and blend spaghetti, and shrimps and pawns werent fresh. The mussels were good though.

Last night for the second time this week we visited Portofino. The service was faultless, friendly, helpful and proactive (we didn’t have to ask for help). The menu had a great range of dishes including the best range of gluten free options. Each of our dishes were amazing and yummy, each coming out promptly.

Off flat beer. 50 minute wait for drinks despite asking twice. 2 hour wait for food. An elderly member of our party asked to get her main while the rest of us had entrees and was told no. Cold entree with chips off the mussel shells causing my partner to hurt his teeth. Uncooked pizza base. Stringy untrimmed steak for my partner with no seasoning. Another 40 minute wait for round 2 of drinks. Bartender busy minding his children instead of his job. 2/3 girls toilets blocked, one with a whole roll of toliet paper. Overpriced dessert consisting of three tiny profiteroles. A very expensive and miserable experince.

Portofino Wellington is somewhere I go whenever I get the chance; Ive hosted business lunches and held family dinners.When my son suggested we go go out for dinner together, this was an immediate choice.The front of house Team are genuinely welcoming, friendly, and very knowledgeable on both the menu and the wine list.We had (as always) a lovely meal and dining experience, and one Im sure well repeat.

Lunch on Wednesday 13/01/21. Good location, fantastic view of the harbour, okay service. Asked for sparkling water for one but had only large bottles. The waitress said I could cancel and have just water, I said yes please. But after paying I saw they’d charged me $10 for it. Also asked for WiFi code but what she gave me didn’t work. Lasagne and penne arrabbiata was lovely, the pizza so-so and I think $19.5 for a capers salad of perhaps 1-1.5 tomatoes, mediocre mozzarella and basil leaves a bit steep. The calamari was also a bit sparse for $17.5 was a bit sparse.

No record of our reservation that was confirmed via email. This was for our wedding anniversary and could have been disastrous if the restaurant was full.

Excellent and cant fault it. Great service, amazing food and great atmosphere. This is one of a dozen or so in the Portofino group A family owned restaurant chain with genuine Italian cuisine. I have also eaten in the waterfront in Auckland and this was just as good.

Service is good. Food under cooked and poor for a quality central wellington restaurant.

The choice on the menu looked good but the food was not well prepared. My meal lacked any taste and my wifes was too tough for her to eat. I give 2 stars rather than once as the staff were helpful and efficient.
