Ive never been in person (Im in the UK) but they provided a great service recently when I ordered some books for a friend who lives in Wellington. The special orders team kept me updated during their lockdown and sorted my order really quickly as soon as they could. Lovely service!

Some say books are like actors, pretending to be something that they are manifestly not. (at all) Visited Unity books to check out the theatre section. Discovered 101 plays you should read before you die, and The Tao of David Bowie. Found a comfortable seat near the window and browsed Jacinda Ardern and Helen Keller biographies. The shop was packed with tyre kickers (like, myself) and the tills were as silent as the dark side of the moon. Is this store a social enterprise for the lexically deprived? Appears, so. Ill prove myself wrong by buying a little paper brick! You folks too. Love, Unity (Books). Comfortable seats.

I love unity books! Spend hours here witha coffee in hand. Always end up spending far too much money but never regret it. The store is laid out in a way that makes it SUPER easy to browse your favorite genres and dive into options that youre not usually drawn to. They always have fantastic recommendations and the vibe in store is always great!

The best selection of books in Aotearoa

Unity books is one of the best book stores in New Zealand. Peruse their large collection on hand or order something in. Their staff are ever helpful and are total book lovers so you can have a long yarn about your favourite reads with them and pick up awesome recommendations in return. Even if you arent buying anything, its totally worth a quick peek in nothing more than to stick your nose into one of Wellingtons literary institutiona.

Normally a great experience but today we had a very grumpy assistant who I really should have just walked away from and asked for another. There is no need to be rude or to look down your nose at your customers. Shame on you. Fortunately I had a much better time a few hours later when I returned to complete my purchases

If you love a good book this is the shop for you. Well laid out with an amazing selection of books. I could have spent hours browsing the selection, but I only had 10 minutes before closing, no matter I found a fabulous book and will go back for more.

Fantastic place for all your book needs. They usually stock books that are not available else where or they are hard to find, which makes the store a book mecca.The staff are wonderful and can help you find the best book for your needs. They also have their own staff picks wall which offer a wide range of choices.Pricing is very reasonable, particularly the childrens books, so it is certainly worth a visit.

If you love books you will love visiting Unity Books - an amazing array of books to suit every possible requirement and pretty reasonably priced. I give a lot of books away as gifts and like collecting books of all types and content - the shop is well laid out absolutely crammed with beautiful books, they have a great staff pick column where you can quickly select a book based on short comments by staff which are always spot on - a great childrens section to cater for all ages - staff are all the best, very friendly, helpful and efficient. Shop is in Central Willis Street and easy to get to. Quite often in a hurry I park outside the police station on Victoria and dash through the arcade otherwise parking downtown is the usual drama in Wellington. All in all an iconic book shop and one I am compelled to go to on each visit to Wellington.
