Ordered on Uber Eats so cant comment on the location.Ordered the Teriyaki Chicken Don. Wasnt exactly bad, but it was pretty bland and just tasted like chicken skin - barely any seasoning. Certainly not worth the $23 price tag. The only positive I can give is that it was well-cooked and reasonably filling.

The aesthetic isnt great but the food is pretty good. A lot of variety, especially as a vegetarian who isnt used to variety at an Asian restaurant. The bathrooms arent in the restaurant, they give you a key to go use a bathroom across from the restaurant.

They provide great options of lunch special. My husband especially likes the beef noodles. It was made with hand-pulled noodles which are full of flavor. The beef was cooked well too, particularly when you pull some sesame oil on it. Will come again for other dishes.

We used to come here all the time but sadly its not what it used to be. The quality of food and experience has deteriorated considerably since the obvious change of ownership a few years ago.

You need to look a little bit for this place, but its well worth the find. Maybe its because its not on the busy high street that it feels a little more special? The staff are excellent, the food is well presented and tasty and the prices are great. I had this dish with little fish flakes that move , cant remember what its called but ask for the moving fish flakes!

I had a great evening at Miyabi. The Honey Chicken was amazing and tasty. The green tea ice cream is also a lovely treat to finish of your meal. Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Thanks, we will back.

The owner needs to treat customers with respect, the poor serving staff are lovely but the male who was working at the front was disrespectful, rude and chose to threaten a number of customers rather than have a civil conversation with them. He refused to listen to feedback, ignored requests and argued with customers about paying their bills. Part of the table had to ask three times to pay and after not receiving any answer, they were ignored, they turned to walk out, it was only then when he started yelling come pay your bill that he would allow them to do so. They forgot a meal for our table, and when it was enquired about he very rudely told her it was coming and to go back to the table. At this point everyone else had already received and eaten the majority of their meals at the table. She had to go up another time and enquire before they even realised or acknowledged that they had missed/forgotten her order. None of the meals came out at the same time, 7 dishes were staggered over the course of 15-20 minutes not including the forgotton meal. Additionally the spicy pork belly was extremely oily, while it had ok flavour the sheer amount of oil and grease in the dish put me off entirely. Would not recommend dining here, either for a dinner or a byo, it may have been a bad day for the owner however other reviews seems to repeat this experience and he hasnt learnt how to retain customers based on service.UPDATE: The owner has now responded in what appears to be a biased light. This review was about how they spoke to us as customers and served us as customers, not about others. Instead the owner has now taken to playing the blame game. It took two times for a member of my party to go up to the front for them to realise they had missed their order, it was then her that asked for a discount as a result, only then did they attempt to offer to take off her corkage, which she didnt even have in the first place, something they would have known if they had bothered to pay attention to our table in the first place. What the owner fails to realise is that my table had queued up together to pay first, three of us had paid and then and the other party were called to the front by the owner, pushing in front of us to challenge their bill. The correct actions would have been to pull the concerning table aside and have a civil conversation together while allowing the other waitresses to use the till so that other tables could pay. This did not happen and my table then spent another 15 minutes or so waiting so that the other half of our party could pay, it is at this point that they were ignored and we had spent at least 20 minutes waiting at the till. There was no kindness or patience in the tone of the owner, he was yelling at the other party the entire time and he chose to ignore and brush off any attempt to communicate with him, when we attempted to give feedback and tell him how we felt about the service he just repeated ok bye, bye, ok bye. We personally have never experienced such bad service or management by an owner and feel sorry for the wait staff that have to work under him. Extremely rude behaviour. Regardless of the impact of COVID on the hospitality industry I would actually expect some hospitality to be served in any restaurant, this one is lacking. I hope you learn something from this exchange.

The most disappointing dinner ever. Ordered C7 pork belly and C54 whole fish. The pork belly was so greasy. It was like pork and vege soaking in oil. The fish was almost off, very smelly. The sauce had lots of ginger and spring onion, still couldnt help. I told the receptionist. He did not believe me. He said it shouldnt be, it was a frozen fish. Definitely not worth the money!

DO NOT go here for the Japanese food. This is not the Miyabi Restaurant that it used to be. The Chinese food might be great, didnt try it, but the Japanese food was terrible. This is my first ever review because of how passionately I despise the fact that what was once a treasure of Japanese food in Wellington is now a poorly maintained front for new ownership. Shame on them for riding on the coat-tails of what was once a great restaurant. Could have good Chinese food though, so feel free to give that a try. Harumph

Average.. and I mean very average Japanese food. Ordered the Katsudon, Gyoza and Takoyaki (after reading the reviews). Highly disappointed by the quality of the food. The gyoza was soggy and the filling wasnt appetizing one bit.. it came with a little splash of sauce which only made it worse.Takoyaki is one of my all time Japanese favorites but it was a sore letdown. They werent crispy, the centre was doughy and the octopus just tasted weird. The katsu was overfried and hard, with no seasoning. Didnt taste like any mirin was added. Flavorless disappointment 😑😣Thanks but no thanks..

Just speechless...First time in NZ where we were told not to come back when we refused to pay for the order that we have not ordered. They accused my friend for making an order for 3 dishes when he had only ordered one. And when he took the other 2 back by saying sorry, I must have not made it very clear but I only ordered dumplings, they accused him by saying you admitted to your own mistake by saying sorry, therefore you have to pay for all 3 dishes as someone has to cover the cost... I didnt know it was a crime to have decent manners in New Zealand..(They must have expected us to say something like you stuffed up so take it back) Why would we have to pay for dishes we didnt even order or let alone eat when the waitress clearly misunderstood my friends order due to her limited communication skills. Thanks for treating us like thieves and telling us never to come back.

I have been a loyal customer to enjoy this restaurant till the end of this August. I ordered the same meal I always had for lunch, and right after I dug in, something almost choke me, then I found out it was a WIRE from the wire brush! I showed it to the waitress without making a fuss. She apologised and then the manager came to me and dropped an unexpected question would you like us to cook you a new dish? With only 30min lunch break, I couldnt afford spending another 10 minutes waiting. So I said no. After finishing the food, I paid full amount (around $14) and got a $3 voucher. Well, that was my last and will be the last visit.

This place was the worst place ever. The food was horrible and wasnt even special, the owners of the place and the workers were all so rude to the customers and even criticized us for things that we didnt do. The owners kept staring at the customers, do they not know that staring is very bad manners. Even a little kid would know better. This place is the worst place ever, I would never bring my family there ever again. Its horrible.
