First time to dine in here with a friend and we really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The service was good, friendly staff and knowledgeable of the menu. I had the Spanish omelette and it was good. Fluffy and light eggs, good chorizo and the potatoes tasty. Their fresh juice of carrots, ginger and mint as so refreshing. Rhubarb crumble and coconut ice cream was the perfect way to end lunch.
We held our wedding ceremony and reception at Dunbar House and couldn’t be happier. Daisy, Sophie, Vincent and everyone else were amazing and helped my husband and I every step of the way to create the most beautifully seamless day that we will forever cherish. The food and service were second to none and we have received positive feedback from all of our guests. Planning a wedding during the pandemic was stressful and the team at Dunbar were always there to alleviate our concerns and catered to requests to the best of their ability. Thanks again for contributing to the happiest day of our life! Highly recommended.
We visited here a few weekends ago and were blown away by the scenic views. We were presented with amazing, top quality food served by a lovely young lady named Milla, she made our visit a very enjoyable and memorable one with her delightful manners and desire to create a fantastic afternoon for me and my family. 5 stars.
We had our wedding here, Sophie and Cassandra were amazing. Best food our guests had ever had at a wedding (even the fuss GF guest said so) and the service on the day was perfection.Thank you for helping us create so many wonderful memories, we look forward to coming back and celebrating our anniversary and other special occasions with you.
Stunning views of the sunlit harbour and park create the perfect backdrop for a birthday gathering. The food was so delicious with the freshest produce and beautiful flavours. Thanks to the accommodating staff, we enjoyed a leisurely Sunday lunch that lasted 3.5 hours. Even though they were setting up for an afternoon wedding, we sat on the balcony until we were ready to leave. Thank you . Well be back again
We had a beautiful wedding at Dunbar house in 2019. Food was amazing, staff were great. Justa beautiful day. As we chose to the winter package the hotel and car were a special bonus. Thank you again to all the staff that made our day so wonderful!
I was with group of friends in total of 6. We were sitting upstairs on the balcony. The view and weather were absolutely beautiful; couldnt have better place to celebrate Sunday afternoon with friends. The meals were really nice. Everything was a very testy . The staff were attentive and very helpful, eager and always smiling. This was a delight time for all of us, Thank you & see you soon :)
Upon finding Dunbar House we were incredibly impressed. We loved the aesthetic, they were flexible with a half vegan - half non-vegan menu and the minimum spend instead of minimum guest numbers was an absolute selling point (as it provided so much more flexibility for us to choose how we wanted our wedding to look/feel). The venue provides a perfect mix of waterview, greenery and luxury. Communication could have been better at stages, perhaps due to changing of staff throughout out 18month planning period. Some minor errors on the day (such as no-sugar coke with spirits, wrong food for the groom and not providing/putting aside remaining cake to take home) let the venue down for 5 stars. Nonetheless, excellent service, good co-ordination and our guests were really impressed by the venue. No guest went home hungry and we couldnt imagine anywhere else for our wedding day.
Do not host your event here unless its 200% going ahead! My fiancé and I were supposed to have my pre-wedding dinner at Dunbar House, but due to international borders staying closed, we had to cancel (yes, this means we had to cancel our wedding as well). Given that its a wedding, we made the reservation 8 months in advance and paid the deposit... all of which well never get back. We tried to explain the situation to Dunbar House that were in America and cant be there for our event, but they couldnt do anything for us, let alone sympathize. So, what did they do? They took more than $2k from us and literally did nothing -- they had not even sent us a single menu to look at or asked us about key event details like the number of people attending. NEVER AGAIN!Note: Booking was made in my mother-in-laws name, Marnie. Hence why you don’t have me on file.
The meals were wonderful. Everything was a flavour sensation. Perfectly cooked. The staff were beautifully attentive. Polite, eager and always smiling. This was a delight.
Or high tea was tasty and fresh enough - nothing special - but the service was slipshod. One of the staff was clearly new, but there was no excuse for the other two or three that served us.Servers didnt know which were the vegetarian platters (one of the items in the veg option was a tuna sandwich), and we had to ask repeatedly for our teas! Even then, they didnt ask how we took our teas, or provide a milk jug: we had to ask for milk!
We tried Pistacho Creme brûlée was fantastic. The caramel on top was perfectly crisp, and the Creme brûlée itself was creamy enough (but not too creamy!)Biscotti that came along was a bit hard but werent too particular.Vienna coffee was good, Vienna chocolate tasted like Milo.Still water costed 9AUD so for cheaper options, could ask tap.Other than that, it was a wonderful dining experience. The place was cosy (on a cold winter day) with good view of the sea and tastefully decorated interior :)
Went on boat over to Watson’s Bay. Had a stunning lunch on verandah at Dunbar HouseSetting was so relaxing and was the best food I’ve had in a long time. Had salmon Salad and prawn Linguini W Chorizo. Saw others having high tea and that looked pretty good as well.
We could not have asked for a better wedding venue. The setting, the food, the hospitality... Everything was just perfect. Would 100% recommend Dunbar House to anyone and everyone!
Visited Dunbar house for lunch at the weekend. The food was fantastic and the venue was beautiful. The atmosphere however, needed improvement. I overheard a member of staff (blonde young lady, possibly a manager) speaking to several members of staff appallingly. It was unnerving and disruptive to hear team members being spoken to in such a way, and I feel as though our relaxing experience was negatively impacted. I really hope that Dunbar house can match its management skills to meet the high standards of food palatability and venue presentation to improve customer experience.
Hi Team,Our sons birthday at Dunbar house went really well and I am pleased to tell that we received very positive feedback from family and friends on the venue facilities and catering! You guys did an amazing job. Many thanks to the team there for helping us to make the event such a great success. Loking forward for more parties at Dunbar House :)
Celebrated my birthday at Dunbar House on the weekend. The location and food was lovely. However, the service was bad. Waited 40 minutes for main course and had to remind the staff, waited another 20 minutes before food served. The staff were very apologetic and polite. We did receive 2 drinks and both desserts free of charge for the oversight. A friendly suggestion to the Management, train your staff better as there wasnt great knowledge about certain dishes either.
We had our reception at Dunbar House and it was absolutely beautiful! Daisy and the team were constantly friendly, professional, reliae and patient. We had our reception last year during Covid and Daisy made the process as stress free as possible. Our guests also commented how wonderful the servers were. Thank you Daisy and the team for helping to make our special day absolutely perfect!
The location of Dunbar House is amazing.3 min walk from the ferry and your welcomed by professional genuine staff. With multiple rooms to cloose from, or verandah tables available. You must book Dunbar House is often fully booked or used for private functions. The Breakfast menu is superb, real housemade foods including my favorite eggs Benedict with freshly made bernaise sauce. The prices here are very reasonble scramble eggs $14, eggs Benedict $20 Or $24 with salmon. Coffee $4.50- $5.50.
Nice place. Its where you go to be romantic or with a special person. Its nice. Its also a good place to have a function.Or food and drinks were just fine.
Took my wife here for a romantic high tea during our trip to Sydney and were definitely not disappointed. The service was fantastic and the view from the deck was lovely. The selection of food was good and the tea list was extensive. Their in-house chai is definitely something everyone needs to try. Would definitely visit again next time we are in Sydney.
Amazing place! One of the best location I have ever been!
Great location and the dinner was fantastic.
I visited Dunbar House for breakfast. There were lots of varied and interesting things on offer. My friends and I were very pleased with our choices, and the service. Good coffee too. The location and view outstanding.
Attended a wedding here and everything was awesome. Food was so delicious, service was impeccable and the place is just gorgeous. Staff went out of their way to ensure guests were happy and attended while maintaining COVID standards. Very happy with everything, would definitely recommend.
Excellent lunch. Great service, food and location.
Lovely place for brunch, great views, friendly service and despite how it looks, this is not a snooty place!
We have been using this restaurant for 3 or 4 years about approx earth 2 or 3 weeks,it very close. Well thinks are changing, for the first time there was a problem with the food. I think the food was made a week or so ago. When the waitress was told, she came back with the food was made Yesterday, no way. I had to pay full charge. It Sucks. So I emailed the manager. No response. Then later another problem, visiting the toilet shall we say.All is changing
I had a bridal shower event at Dunbar House recently. The event went smoothly. I was really impressed with the level of service provided by the staff and the quality of the food. They were delicious. The location was fantastic and the staffs were very friendly. Very perfect place for any wedding or reception.
Awesome! venue, delicious food...must go place with family and/or friends.
Dunbar house has the best breakfast and coffee and service.
Devonshire tea. Just out of the oven scones. Elegant decor
This space is really beautiful, there’s a great view of the water and it feels like you have stepped into a house located on the English countryside. I was there for a high tea themed bridal shower and the food suited this theme very well. The assortment of desserts were really tasty and I would thoroughly recommend this space if you are thinking of hosting a similar event.
Beautiful setting overlooking the water. Attended a wedding with the ceremony held in front under a large tree. Reception inside upstairs. Easy access with a ramp and lift for thos less able. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Food plentiful and beautiful. A great venue.
I am writing this review to talk about the amazing food, ambience and overall the best breakfast in Sydney, the staff who are so professional and amazing, Cassie who runs the restaurant like I have never seen anywhere else. Everyone who works there gets a gold star from me.Love Love Dunbar House.
While the venue is lovely, the food is great and the location is stunning, unfortunately management and the planning process are extremely lacking. Our wedding was during the covid pandemic which meant that restrictions were in place, and the environment was constantly changing. We felt that we were met with no, you cant instead of options of what else we could do. Also, had we not proceeded with our reception; we would have lost our entire deposit as they do NOT offer any amount of money to be returned once paid regardless of what the situation is. On the night of our wedding, their covid marshal informed me that we could not take photos with our guests. I was beyond disappointed at this as we had been in constant contact with the venue all week and they waited until the evening to tell me this additional restriction. Poor management and poor communication. Very disappointing. Also sad we haven’t heard from them since having our wedding…
Excellent breakfast with the fluffiest egg omelette & scrambled eggs we’ve had in a while. Service was very professional and the view out the windows & along the terrace were sublime.
Loved this beautiful quaint restaurant where you could relax and enjoy your day. Food was good and staff were obliging. Ive been a few times and will go back again
I just LOVE Dunbar House... Cassie & the Team are AMAZING!!! the food is always sensaitonal, and the setting just perfection - both breakfast and lunch 10/10
Been here a few times and each time has been consistently good but on my most recent visit the omelette was extremely salty and my latte was half foam...with only a few sips of coffee at best...
Brilliant place and food.
Lovely outlook, nice food, but noisy
Fabulous lunch here last Friday.Very attentive service, great menu with excellent food. Amazing location. We will return for sure.Good job team Dunbar.
This was our second visit to this lovely place within a month & it definitely will not be our last even though we live at the other end of town......A wonderful location......Friendly staff.......it is service with a smile all the way.........& great food too.......Will be back.......
We had our wedding recently at Dunbar house and we couldnt recommend the team enough! They were all fantastic! Katy and Sophie were outstanding and have processes and templates in place to make the stress of wedding planning as easy as possible. The staff on the night were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you so much! Highly recommend!
We had our wedding at Dunbar House recently. Both ceremony and reception went smoothly. We were really impressed with the level of service provided by the staff and the quality of the food. They were delicious and the portion was big. We had a lot of overseas guests and everyone had a great time and was very impressed with the venue and quality of food. We would like to thank Cassie, Megan and Katy for their exceptional services. Without their support, it could be a very stressful day.
Lovely views and great vibe!
Great atmosphere. Took the family here and the selection of food was great.
Had a bridal shower there and it was wonderful!! amazing food, view and service. Cant wait to go back!
Great wedding reception venue! We were very happy with the whole Dunbar house package. The staff, food, service, setup, location. We all had a great time and only complaint was that the night went too quick! :) I wouldnt hesitate to recommend.
Great service and awesome food, well definely be back!!
Dunbar house were OUTSTANDING on our wedding day. Everything was perfect, it was such a magical winters day. Friends and family gushed over the venue, food and wine. Thank you to Cassie, Megan, Daisy and Olympia and the rest of the staff for creating the wedding of our dreams!
Great place for weddings the venue may be a little small
Great venue. top views. The place is a little tired and needs a facelift. Restricted parking on weekends is a real issue. When you are all dressed up and have to walk 1km it puts a real downer on the whole event.
Lovely spot.Great Devonshire tea.
Fabulous seafood risotto. Very charming staff.
Beautiful location, welcoming staff (especially Cassie, the very efficient and welcoming Maître D) and reasonably priced delicious cuisine. Great place to take international visitors!
A beautiful cosy place for all year round. Great wedding venue
Lovely food and great service.
Our wedding here in 2016 was incredible, not just for the idyllic setting overlooking the water in a stunning old building but for the wonderful staff that did everything possible to make our special day one to remember forever.
