As audience and performing I know the Palace Theatre very well. The theatre is a classic early 20th century music hall theatre with prosenium arch and classic stalls, circle and upper circle (gods) layout. It gas a fantastic atmosphere and the early 21st century redevelopment improved the access, bars and, for performers, the back stage and dressing room space. A great place to watch and perform. Make sure you do not price out amateur societies, the community needs the facility as much a the professionals.

We go to the pantomime here every year in a big family group. It is usually extremely good, but this year the performance felt ... thin. Set was good, music was good, but the performers less so. A couple of the women tended to shriek when speaking loudly, rather than project their voice. This was particularly noticeable in the “baddy” witch. Her acting was good, but voice was squeaky when speaking loudly. When singing the volume balance was wrong. The singing was not amplified enough, so was drowned by the music and lacked impact.Still, the children in the group loved it, which was great.

Panto was Fab-U-Lous. There were three generations in our party, and the production catered for all of us particularly musically. It was lovely to see and hear live music so professionally presented. A most enjoyable experience, thank you to all the cast, and production team. Dont miss out on this great show.

I have been here on a number of occasions and have never had a bad time. The productions are varied but always top-notch. Whether it is a pantomime, play, show, delayed broadcast of a London play or special screening of a film, it is always well presented. There are plenty of shows aimed at children and families, so there is something for everyone to see.The staff are friendly and helpful and very knowledgeable. The bar odds well stocked with a varied selection of drinks and snacks. The building, itself, is beautiful and considering that it is over 100 years old has all the modem amenities.

How was the theatre? Excellent! Nicely preserved intimate (i.e. not large) period auditorium. We saw Oklahoma! performed by Abbots Langley G&S Society - absolutely stunning, but unfortunately if you dont have tickets already, I think you will have missed the show. Watch out for their future productions and go to this theatre to enjoy the setting.

Great little theatre, with all the seats close to the stage. I have enjoy visiting this theatre for the last 35 years but they no longer choose plays that interest me. The only shows that I feel are worth seeing are amateur productions produced by Cassio Operatic and other local groups. They now show films as well but again these do not interest me. We need some more comedy or classic plays rather that what the theatre thinks is cutting edge. These dont fill seats or cater for the demographic.of Watford.

Staff were freindly and polite. The Victor an venue sports a rather modern look on the outside, while inside the theatre, the impressive ornate plasterwork still exists.I have seen a couple of shows at the Watford Palace and have enjoyed both. Saw Gaslight. Problematic in acting, directing and conception.Actors are ok but they had a problem dealing with directors concept. The villian was far too violent and obvious. And the psychological element of subtle mental abuse was thus lost.Good stage design.Too much adapting a play too suit the aims of women under abuse.

Its a really nice theatre - it has a modern bar and cafe and then you enter a gorgeous renovated Edwardian theatre. Its a really great place to see the Big Screenings (unlike the popcorn strewn multiplexes). The modern drama is really good too often touring other major theatres. There is multi-storey parking right next to the building though Watford’s ring road takes some understanding.

Shocking , l unfortunately left my wallet on my chair after a performance and when I phoned the theatre to see where it was, I was told they would search and come back to me. So I have to presume a member of staff stole it. That’s a bold claim but as I was last out ( due to my disability) what else can I think. Very disappointed and upset.
