I have lived on Main street for 4 years and only went to the French Table the first time on Valentines day. I am really impressed with this restaurant. Excellent service. This is a well run restaurant with servers committed to giving you the best experience. Although it was a set menu, we were absolutely happy with our choices. I fear that Main street doesnt give this place the love it deserves because it isnt chasing all the fads of cuisine. You will feel very welcome here. The food is delicious and presented beautifully. If you ever put off going here, stop putting it off and go.

There are many things that made our visit to the French Table pleasant. First off the food is of extremely high quality, and the fondue is totally genuine. The host is very personable and one can tell his passion and dedication. It is pricey, but this is one of the few places where it simply does merit it.

Came here for another corporate dinner. We were all very impressed with the service and food. The bread seemed endless and our glasses were always full. I wish I could have taken more pictures of the food but that would have been rude of me so I stuck with my own food. My only criticisms would be that my halibut piece was smaller than what I expected, and the food took a bit longer than expected, however it was well worth the wait. When the food came out, all of it was hot and our food arrived at the same time. We came at a quieter time and practically had the whole restaurant to ourselves which made us feel very relaxed and made the dining experience superb. We will definitely come back again in the future.

Delicious food in an intimate traditional french bistro. Started with a Lavender parfumed Martini (subtle and a great aperitif choice), charcuterie (which includes an onion marmalade, delish) main courses were the the Coq au Vin and the Duck Cassoulet... both melt in your mouth. Finished with a cheese board and, of course, a chocolate mousse, oh! And their Bordeaux 🍷(by the glass) befits the quality of their succulent fare.A must try in Vancouver.

I came here with two members of my family to celebrate a wee reunion, and the waitstaff was horribly disrespectful to us. I feel that we were heavily profiled by our casual attire, which caused the wait staff to treat us like “scary poors” that were sullying their dining room. Compared to experiences at other fine dining restaurants like Bacchus where we are welcomed with kindness (to shell out less for more than we did at French Table!), I was genuinely saddened by our waiter’s notion to remind us of how much things cost before confirming our order, or suggesting a diet cola when a regular cola had been ordered, implying weird assumptions about the person ordering. He asked “where we worked” in a tone which felt interrogative rather than friendly-curious, and while tables around us saw their waters refilled and other courtesies you’d expect for the inflated price point of their offerings, we sat unwatered and trying to enjoy each other’s company despite the insulting gestures of the waitstaff. And, both men attending the restaurant were mask off or nose out when they weren’t right at a table, and sneezing and hacking along the way. Maybe this snobbery passed for class in the 80’s, but up here in future times, empathy wins. I literally recommend any French restaurant but this one, unless being degraded is something you’re into 🤘

French Table gives of a authentic French dining experience. The selections are limited but they give you the best options possible. The environment and ambience is a great place to take your spouse to especially for a special occasion. Their dishes are unique and the best selection of wine is comes from France. Portion size is decent but comes with a price. In my opinion, the price is worth it.

As a French native, I can tell you that this restaurant is very French ... but not in the way that you would want it to be. The owners response to unsatisfied customers in these reviews says it all. Also, food is outrageously overpriced and does not even meet French standards. If you are looking to try a good traditional French raclette, save yourself a $100+ bill and go directly to Les Amis Du Fromage.PS : stop taking it so personally Hervé.

I am writing this comment to address my concerns and reasoning for low rating in response to the restaurant’s request. We’ve been at your restaurant for the first time for DineOut Vancouver. Usually, we want to try new places at this event and we would go to the ones we like most, on a regular basis in the future! There are few things I’ve experienced which were not expected in this kind of restaurant!First, the table cloth was not clean.Second, I didn’t touch my meat at all as it was too fatty and it also smelled like fat (I usually love meat). It was nice that I got some explanation about it and an offer for another dish, but it was too late at that point. As my partner has already finished his food about 5-10 minutes before they were checking on us!Finally, if somebody doesn’t touch a food at all for any reason, it’s a courtesy in most of higher end restaurant to not charge the customer for that food or offer something for future. Surprisingly, not only they charged us a full amount, but also nobody even said that they were sorry that the food didn’t meet my expectations! Acknowledging that fact was very important. It didn’t matter if they didn’t agree with me that the meat was fatty, me as a customer though it was. They needed at least to acknowledge that fact.

Our table started off with a Charcuterie, and it took a whole HOUR to come despite our table being one of 3 parties in the entire establishment. The food was good but I could not shake off the feeling of resentment from the staff, through thinly veiled politeness as if it was just them putting up with us, and we were doing our best to be good customers as well. The seafood linguine was dry and undercooked, the pasta tasted rubbery and the ingredients all felt like they were frozen and in fact not fresh, OR local. The wine list was satisfactory. The whole experience was just anxiety inducing and I just, I cant put my finger on this place, like something felt really REALLY not right about being in this place. Like eating the food and giving them business was a crime against humanity and I left sketched out by the place.

We were disappointed in our visit to the French Table restaurant. We have dined at many of Vancouvers french restaurants and feel that our experience at the french table was quite a bit below the standards of the others. The main issue was the service. Our waiters didnt pay much attention to the fine details of how to take care of their customers. Small things like wine glasses and water glasses remaining empty until we had to ask for them, having to ask for ground pepper after receiving our meals, waiter delivered our main course and didnt even notice that a portion of my meal was missing from it nor did he check to see if our meal was ok, then once finished we sat there with empty glasses of wine and water and had to flag down the owner who served us personally. We also felt that a glass of wine was over priced. The food was ok. Best part of the meal was the desert. Creme Caramel and chocolate mouse. Would I return again? Dont think so!!

Im giving the restaurant one star because the service made the experience uncomfortable and unenjoyable. The owner was very rude, he seemed to treat my friend and as if we were kids. He would constantly watch us eat and come to us showing us how to eat properly. He told us to cut up our potatoes instead of eating it the certain way we wanted. We got the cheese fondue. We didnt want too much cheese on our bread but he kept coming and told us to dip more. He even took the utensils out of our hands and and push out bread deep down to the bottom of the cheese fondue. We told him it was okay, he said we werent eating the fondue properly if we didnt drench our potato or bread in cheese. I understand that we arent doing the proper way... but he should of allowed us to eat it however we want.It was constantly him coming back to our table to tell us how to eat properly which made us too uncomfortable to eat, so we just quickly left without even ordering other food or finishing our dish.I honestly want to come back and try other dishes, but I dont know how I feel if I received the same service.

Id been wanting to try this restaurant for a long time because other peoples reviews and finally got to try this place with another two couples of our friends but with a huge disappointment. Over priced and food not good at all. Was recommended to order one of the daily special -snapper fish for $30; the presentation of the dish was so pale and the fish tasted so fishy and dry (must be overcooked) and blend! It was my first time leaving an entrie dish unfinished at a caucasion restaurant lol... also pre-ordered the beef wellington for mu hubby as recommended on their website for $46 but the steak turned out to be dry and well done, not like the pink medium rare color as shown on the photo on their website. The appetizer we ordered the scallop for $19, was told by the server that it may have 6 or 7 pieces of scallop, but it only came with tiny pieces and was very salty with capers. We had to ask for bread after the appetizer was served (they probably wouldnt serve us bread if we didnt ask for it). Over all it was bad experience. I so regret recommending our friends to come try this place with us.

He didnt approach the table for 10 min after we had sat down, didnt even ask us the obligatory how are you doing, just said you ordered 4 fondue. Lunch continued with this style of pretentious / annoyed service.Food was good. Had the fondue, but had to order salads to accompany it because despite being described as a full meal for two it only comes with cheese, lots of bread, one tiny salad that has to be split for 2 people, and potatoes. It was tasty, but not a very balanced meal unless all you eat is cheese and starch.Would not recommend nor come here again due to unfriendly service.

The French Table is a bistro - not a restaurant - and is lots more relaxed than what you might expect. The staff and owner (Herve) are lovely and genial. The menu is restricted as expected for a bistro style eating establishment. Good selection of bubbly, wines and cocktails too - they have a series of martinis which my companions said were quite good. The food is simple but not plain, hearty, well-presented and tasty. The pork loin medallions I had (on special) were melt in your mouth and had this lovely dijon mustardy sauce over it. Overall, i recommend the restaurant for a smart/casual evening out. One lovely detail - the butter comes out soft not hard like in so many places. Good bread too.
