Being from India and after trying all the Indian restaurants in DT area, this is honestly the most authentic Indian food I had in Vancouver. Absolutely delicious preparations and lovely staff. The only element missing was Indian classical sitar music :) I keep my fingers crossed and hope that they dont change their chefs or deteriorate the quality and quantity of food. Beautiful ambience, took me back to Mumbai. Amazing job team Sula!

Been wanting to try this place for awhile and had the chance today to go for dinner. The interior is spectacular and the food was very good. What ruined the experience was the service in that they pretty much ignored a one person dinning, which ended up I was able to have my husband join to be able to order more to try, and I would have understood if the restaurant was super busy. It wasn’t, I was the first person to show up at the restaurant and for the next 2 hours there was only 3 other parties that showed up for inside dinning and one party for outdoor. The room had about 15 other seatings available and I had asked if I could sit near the window at the 2 person table. They said it was booked, no one ever showed up and they continued to neglect serving me and help me with choosing items from the menu that were popular. I even showed pictures of Indian cuisine I enjoyed and it was still a struggle for them to suggest items. For a casual meal, I don’t mind spending $100, but this was more upscale vibe and we were put in a corner to be forgotten while I would watch other patrons be accommodated. I even asked about future bookings and how to be able to secure a particular table and again, had a convoluted answer. I want to rave about the food as it was really good, fresh and authentic, but when dining out has become a privilege during a pandemic, it really does leave a dampened feeling that delivery/take out is probably the only option if ambiance and customer service is left on the curb.

Excellent experience, good food and great service.The vibe and decor uses multiple Indian artifacts and that sets the mood to enjoy the well done Indian specialities.We ordered Chicken-65 which was 4/5. Tangri Kebab was definitely 5/5. The stuffed naans were extremely good. Lamb Banjara was 4/5.

Love this place a lot. What great place, so friendly and amazing staffs. Delicious Indian food. If you make prior reservation,you dont have to wait to be seated. We went without reservation,but the staffs were so helpful. We enjoyed a lot. We will go again and again. Recommended🙂

Delicious. Authentic. Quality. We ordered an appetizer, some curries and some naan and everything was amazing. Great service from the service staff too in their recommendations. 4/5 stars because the restaurant was just blazing hot. Wasnt sure if it was the spicy curry or the lack of a/c in the restaurant, but I was sweating up a storm. Would definitely come back again despite the heat just to enjoy the good again!

Absolutely beautiful interior! the various plants and the low lighting make it a perfect place for a date night, and the food is positively delicious! the cocktails are works of art as well, best recommendation is the spice trade, which only gets better as you drink it!the service itself was a bit underwhelming, we were rarely checked up on, but honestly everything tasted so delicious i hardly noticed.

I wish I can give a 0 star. They put meat in my strictly vegetarian food(veg biryani) and I bit into it. I should probably raise this with the Government of Canada to reinspect their kitchen for their license.

Hands down the best Indian restaurant I ever had (Ive had A LOT). The Naan is fluffy, lightly seasoned and very nice. Veggie Samosa was filled with stuffing yet tasted very sophisticated. Lamb Korma taste was on the milder side and the lamb was perfectly cooked.Ironically, I thought the butter chicken was actually its weakest food. Personally, I like my butter chicken very buttery with a strong tomato taste. Their butter chickens taste is simply not strong enough for me. So if you like a strong butter/tomato taste; I would actually skip the butter chicken. Its by no means bad; simply a personal preference. Will come back (it took 30 mins drive one-way so I am glad this was a good experience).

Easily one of the best curry meals I’ve had in my life! Layers of flavour! I called ahead to make sure my meal could be prepared vegan and they were very accommodating.

Was on main Street at a different restaurant but am sure glad we decided to leave as we only get date night once in a blue moon. ( we have 2 kids under 5 and dont get out much) the food was honestly the best Indian food I have ever tried. We ordered a recommended starter by our server which was the Papri Chaat and I was just amazed on the size and flavor of that dish. The drinks were great and I decided to order the Pina colada and was a fresh drink. I ordered the chicken Tikka Masala with creamy tomatoe and onion. I paired it with a garlic Naan and come Basmati rice. The portion was generous and after that starter I was happy to have some left overs. My wife ordered the classic butter chicken and she paired it with onion and cilantro Naan. Both these dishes were just fantastic. The atmosphere was very nice and elegant and really enjoyed the copper touches on the glasses and the cutlery. They have gained a regular and will be back any chance I get! Cant wait to try other dishes on the menu. Thanks for the great service and amazing food

We ate on the patio area and enjoyed our meal. The food served was great and very filling. Portions wise it was on the medium side so some big appetites may need to order more but we had leftovers as a group of 4. This place is great for sharing and has more unique options compared to other Indian restaurants we have tried. The Dahi Puri and Aloo Tikki Chaat were delicious appetizers.We also tried the sangrias and found them quite large for the price. The strawberry one was a bit artificial in flavour but still very refreshing and satisfying.

One of the best Indian spots in the city! Garlic naan was fluffy and fragrant, lamb curry perfectly succulent and dahl was creamy and flavorful. On top of that the service was excellent. I consider myself a picky eater but Im so impressed by Sula and will certainly be back.

Being a Local guide of Edmonton, I would definitely rate all my experience in British Columbia. We have visited this place today on 14th July 2021. We came to British Columbia on 10th July 2021. 4th day here today after visiting 3 different restaurants in 3 days we found Sula.... I have rated this restaurant as number one out of 4 different places. We have tried their Garlic Cheese Naan, Achari Murgh Masala, Paneer Kadhai, Malai Dil Kofta, Vegetable Biryani and Mango Coconut Kheer.Everything was so delicious that I couldnt stop myself eating it until all the dishes were almost done. Their Achari Murgh Masala was perfectly spiced, and other dishes were extremelly well prepared.Achari Murgh Masala: a perfectly balanced dish with a hint of Pickle Masala (Indian pickles, not the one we use in Subs and Sandwiches.) With balanced spice level and a perfectly simmered gravy. Bonless chicken pieces were tender.Paneer Kadhai : these people maintained the value of word Kadhai with mixing ingredients not too much or not too less.Malai Kofta : Soft Vegetable Dumings in tangy tomato and onion gravy. It could not be easier all the time to maintain the softness of dumplings by putting it into boiled gravy. But these people have proved it by serving a tremendous dish of Malai Kofta. Love it.About Vegetable biryani, about the taste I would give 5 out of 10 as it was pretty much taste like biryani but few whole spices were missing to give it extra aroma.I am a chef as well so for the look of biryani I would give 4 out of 10. Texture of the biryani is when you take a spoonfull you expect to have fine glazed rice with taste of almost all the spices in the biryani. This dish was little watery at bottom which doesnt match the traditional Biyani dish at all.Talking about Mango Coconut Kheer : expectations were little high for this dish.yes it was tasty but the rice have been used were not Basmati Rice ( I guess because it was hard to feel the rice in mouth or hard to catch it on spoon) . Kheer is know as rice pudding, so first thing we try to find it milk and rice in this dish. MANGO and COCONUT are bonus flavors. But I am not going to say that this dish disapppinted me. It was delicious for me, kids love it too.Girl server could be little more polite while talking, she was not rude but the way to talk to customers has to be little more friendly and polite.At the end I would like to say yes it is most definitely a 5 star visit. Thank you guys for making our day by serving us a perfect meal. Keep it up.🙂🙂🙂

I’ve been coming to Sula on Commercial Drive for years. It continues to grow (now with the new beautiful Main Street venue). It is impressive that they continually innovate; offering delicious, fresh, quality Indian food in a welcoming, lovely environment. The addition of some authentic Indian street food to the menu has been really exciting. I close my eyes and I’m transported to a busy Mumbai street, overwhelmed with enticing aromas and the music that is the throng of people, the heart of India…all in the first symphony of flavour.The owners of these restaurants lead from the top down, they are as busy doing as their staff. They offer an example of Indian hospitality and service that brings me to this review, given authentically and very happily - keep up the great work Sula.

The food we had was varied, thoughtfully seasoned and served perfectly. I haven’t visited this restaurant before but I’ll be back soon and I’ll be recommending it to my friends. The beer list is awesome too. A great selection of local craft beers and imported gems. One of my favourite dining experiences this year.

My kids were watching fishes swimming while enjoying their food ! Super comfy and kids friendly dinning environment.Everything were so Delicious !! There needs to be a rethink of the flavors - sugar in curries is so old school. Think authentic but fresh! Indian food has come a long way since over cooked not-freshly-cooked food. Take a long hard look at the fare you offer - Vancouver is such an exciting food destination - there’s so much more you can do!

Best Indian food on the Drive. And we live in the area! If you want a special dining experience in a tastefully decorated enclave conducive to positive conversation, with delicious dishes individually served on silver warmer plates, in an indoor dining adjusted to the current restrictions, and with attentive servers - you should visit Sula. We have visited Sula several times now and the food has been consistent - delicious, and the experience - enjoyable! I highly recommend it.

Paneer pakora was good. I recommend eating it for two or more as this takes a lot of space for a single person. Kashmiri Naan(naan stuffed with nuts & dried fruits) is a good choice of bread to accompany any curry . I recommend spicy level for any curry if you want that KICK in your tongue. Mango rice pudding was good 🤤🤤🤤 love everything about this restaurant ! I was served by Vaishak. He is a very attentive server 👍🌝👍

Worst food, I won’t recommend this place for sure. Appetizer was Ok, but other than that all curries taste similar and worse taste.

This restaurant has the most delicious butter chicken by far! We also had a shrimp coconut curry and garlic naan. I loved everything, I think I told my partner how much I enjoyed the food 10+ times haha!I will definitely be back and will recommend.

The first time that really impresses you is the interior decor of this restaurant. You can tell the owners spent a lot of time and money on this place, which makes it a good atmosphere for first dates or a cozy dinner.The food was equally well executed. We ordered the paneer samosa, cucumber salad, butter chicken and beef korma. Curries were all very nice, the appy - paneer samosa, was a bit lacking in flavour. I wasnt sure if thats how it is suppose to be because its the first time Ive ever had it.Overall its a very nice restaurant and with good food. Looking forward to going back and trying other items on their menu.

The service was excellent, the food was absolutely delicious. Very good portion size. There were a lot of vegetarian curries that I had never tried before and was excited to see, though it made it tough to decide what to get, lol. I didnt at all regret my choice, but I dont think I would have regretted any choice on that menu. Everything sounds amazing.Watching all the dishes coming out from the kitchen made me want to try everything on the menu! The presentation is top notch, the flavours blended very well together, and while it was very busy, I didnt feel forgotten about or pestered during the meal, which can happen in many busy restaurants.The restaurant itself is also beautiful. The layout is well done, there are lots of gorgeous art pieces and even their wine bottle setup was really neat. All the staff were incredibly kind, and I look forward to coming back in the very near future!

The ambience and the vibe was great but food lacked the taste. We had ordered tikkas but the taste of them was really blend. You expect whole lot of flavours when you go for Indian cuisine, butt all the dishes did lacked the taste of spices and herbs.

Went there during dine out 2019 with a few friends and we tried pretty much everything on the Dine Out menu.Food was amazing, appys were specially really good. Price point was great ($25 for 3-course meal) for the quality and quantity of food. They also offered various choices for bread for Dine out.Customer service was good. Our server checked on us just enough. Not too much but was around when needed.Restaurant decor was very hip and cozy.Will definitely go back to check out regular menu. 👍

We were casually looking for restaurant to eat while strolling Commercial Drive. Stopped to check out menu and seated customers told us the food was fantastic!/ they’d been there twice in past two weeks!They were right!- The food is amazing!Will be going back real soon.A+++

They have really upped their cocktail game here and the outdoor patio is gorgeous. I had the tamarind margarita and it was glorious. And then the food is amazing. But it always has been. Their naans are to die for. Service is super attentive.

Not a good experience - had ordered chicken tikka, which came out a bit raw. Paneer tikka was good and even the pakoras were nice. Staff was inconsiderate as they kept pushing plates and served food as if they were dumping it on our table - probably not suitable for hospitality industry.For main course; we ordered chicken Sukka which was nowhere close to chicken sukka( came out with a lot of gravy) biggest joke Ever! Added chicken sukka pic for reference. Daal and paneer came out bland after asking for medium spicy level. Definitely not coming back and also not a place I would recommend.

Sula is my most favourite Indian restaurant. The employees are manners and professional. It shows how good trainings they receive from employer.I have gluten and soy, some vegetables and fruit allergy. It’s hard to find restaurants where I can trust.I recommend Sula who suffers food allergy like me. You can enjoy your meals same as others!

Nice traditional food in a very cozy and zen like environment. I can honestly say that I felt very happy and serene. My kids love the chicken pakora and butter chicken with Naan. I love the spicy lamb with rice.

We haven’t actually been into the restaurant be we have ordered for delivery a few times over the last year. We are always blown away by the flavour and the portions are really generous. We order a variety of the vegetarian dishes and have never been disappointed! I’m always surprised by how fast the delivery is as well :) thank you for the lovely dinner

Recently moved to Vancouver and tried several Indian spots before finding this one. This is the only one I’ve kept coming back to. The flavours in the chicken and fish curries as well as the authenticity of the naan is well above average.

The food was amazing and the staff even better! Our server, Jusata was great to our table and very kind to our baby son. When our baby was crying Jusata came and helped calm him down. Before sitting I went to grab a highchair for my baby, but the staff insisted on cleaning it before bringing it to our table for us. This has been our best restaurant experience as a young family so far!

Fabulous Indian curries and great service. Recommend the mango lassies for kids. Garlic naan is tasty. Lamb curry is on point. White guy Indian food dish number one butter chicken is fantastic.

Worst customer service ever! Extremely Rude Manager who insulted us for giving him an honest review of the uncooked food that was served to us.We were on a vacation in Vancouver and based on the reviews of this restaurant we ordered food for takeout. We were travelling with kids and after a really hectic day of travel; dinner was to be the only proper meal of the day. We ordered breads and curries for takeout. We were given the wrong curries and bread was uncooked.We called the restaurant the next day to let the manager know about our experience . He was super rude and told us that it was our fault that we ordered a takeout and that we should have dined in instead . Not sure how that mattered and affected the quality of the food. He further went on to tell us the revenue of the business and that he was not willing to take a bad review.

We tried the chatpata sev puri, lahore lamb tikka sizzler, chicken tikka masala, garlic naan and rice. Everything was excellent except I wish the naan was fluffier! Otherwise zero complaints - bring this restaurant to TORONTO!

Hi!Sula is a good restaurant. The food is amazing. I at Dahi Puri and Ragda Samasa Chat..its was delicious. Would totally recommend you all to eat here. The only turnoff for me was the ambience or the interior of the restaurant. The food was awesome, the staff was very sweet and friendly but the inside of the restaurant was decorated in such a way that it reminded me of a horror movie. I would just ask the owner to have bright lights as it would look more soothing and pleasant…extremely delicious food 😘😘

I went there for dine in. Food was very tasty. I really loved sev puri. However, street food is not available on uber eats menu. You can separate crisps packaging with other fillings of the dish, so that it doesnt get soggy. Please add street food on uber eats menu because the food is so tasty that it doesnt deserve to be off menu.

Wonderful anniversary dinner with my husband! Food was flavourful (we ordered, the Fish Tandoori, Butter Masala Paneer and Chicken Korma) and we especially enjoyed the garlic naan. Really loved the little touches that created a great ambiance - like beautiful plates, tea lights to keep the curries warm and all the plants inside! Service was attentive and friendly. We usually go to the Main St location, but this one is great as well.Will continue dining in and taking out. 10/10 would recommend to others!

So glad we found this place! Not only was the food impeccable, the service was absolutely lovely! The decor (especially the water fountain, murals/wall art and plants) gave the restaurant an ambiance unlike any other, and the candles to keep dishes warm were very appreciated. Indian fusion food can sometimes be a hit or miss but Sula was definitely a hit! Would absolutely recommend the dahi puri as an appetizer, and all of our main dishes were delicious.Our family is visiting Vancouver from Toronto, Ontario and we were looking for an Indian restaurant to have dinner at after a day of fasting. We’ve tried our fair share of Indian restaurants across Canada and tonight’s dinner was one to remember. Our server Geet was very pleasant, offered dish recommendations and had a great conversation with us. The food was so good we wanted to pass our thanks on to the chef, and got a chance to speak with the manager Nitesh, who told us the story of how Sula was started. 10/10 for the food, ambience and service, we’ll be recommending Sula to our friends and family in the area! :)

We ordered Sula through Uber eats and our driver only brought one bag and left the second bag with the ice cream at the restaurant. Im not exactly sure who made the mistake but the driver was not willing to go back and get it as he found out close to my address. Long story short, I called up Sula trying to figure out how to handle the situation and without any hassle they said they would send a driver to me with the missing ice cream. I think that was the right thing to do but still I was pleasantly surprised at how professional and smooth the process was. Oh, and the food is really solid as well. Besides the pistachio ice cream we got vegan coconut curry, dal makhni, garlic naan, onion bhajia, and gulab jamun.

We have been to many Indian restaurants in Europe and North America. Sula was fantastic! Most of the extensive menu items are gluten free with lots of vegetarian options. The quality of sauces was excellent and the meats were juicy and well cooked. The mango mojito was light and fruity and highly recommended. The Dahl and chicken tikka masala was amongst the best we’ve tasted.Staff was highly attentive and very friendly. Would highly recommend to friends and family and would come back in a heartbeat!

On the DRIVE on Commercial; there are innumerable restaurants on the strip here and this one stands out for the number of positive reviews and comments about quality of food. Decided to try it out. Immediately when walking in, you are struck by the homey decor which is authentically East Asian. There is a large koi pond inside, and lots of greenery providing a sense of privacy to diners. COVID precautions are being observed here throughout. The menu is extensive with all the traditional East Indian fare, tandoori, curries, vindaloo, etc. The Naan bread is to die for and so are the pakora. Service is fast and friendly and the portions are good; value for money is good. Once you are done, you are open to walk the strip and see all the coffeehouses and art stores and other eclectic elements of Commercial Drive. Would return! Only star taken off as it is quite loud inside from both the music as well as the close nature of the diners; nice atmosphere but hard to hold an intimate conversation.

Staff are very friendly and polite! Food was good, but nothing that blew me out of the water. We had ordered from the Dine Out menu and couldnt finish our entrées, so asked for it to be packed up. The meal also came with dessert - we waited another 15 minutes or so, but still hadnt gotten our dessert and could not seem to find someone to talk to. The restaurant was very busy, so we understood. I was unsure if we should continue to wait as I had seen another table get their food packed up and receive their dessert at the same time. When I was finally able to meet eye contact with a staff member, he quickly helped us get our desserts. The restaurant interior is beautiful as well! Overall, food was decent and staff were very nice and friendly, but maybe need some more staff when the restaurant is this busy?
