From Vaikom ferry anyone can travel to Thavanakadavu via boat or jangar in a quick manner.The first solar boat in India -Aditya is in Vaikom - Thavanakadavu water route.The total number of boats in this route is 4 or 5.The boat charge per head is Rs.4.

Vaikom-Tjavanakkadavu ferry connects two places, Vaikom and Pallipuram. Frequent boat service runs every 10 minutes in peak hours. This is mainly for people and you can board bicycles as well.Jankar service on same route carries all kinds of vehicles from bike to fully loaded larries(heavy vehicles).

This boat journey across the Vembanadu lake is a must take - if you are a photography enthusiast.

Vaikom – Thavanakkadavu boat ferry  is one of the main attraction of this place. The boat service is available in every 10 minutes at just 4 rupees . Decades old ferry service under KSWTD. The first solar-powered ferry in India named as Aditya started service between Vaikom and Thavanakkadavu, connecting Kottayam and Alappuzha districts on January 2017. The Vaikom boat jetty, which was used by the father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi to reach Vaikom for the Satyagraha has its history value too.

Ferry service connecting vaikom and Thavanakkadavu of Alapuzha distinct. The state owned water transport Corporation operates boat service from morning 5.30 till 9pm. Boat service every 15 to 20 minutes gap available. One solar ferry service and many diesel boats are operating. The solar ferry is a very goo service. But the diesel boats are not clean and maintained properly. The boat landing centre is poorly maintained like many of the government organizations. But a boat ride through the vembanad lake is mind refreshing. A jangar service is also under operation to carry vehicles

Its ok for family evening . Vaikom Municipal park is next to Ferry service counter. Ferry service to connect alappuzha. Ferry service able to carry upto LMVs till 8.30pm.

Vaikom Ferry is the cheapest and shortest way to travel from Vaikom to Cherthala and nearby areas. From here, service boats ply every ten to fifteen minutes.
