Good for people interested in Italian / Greek art. Also has pictures with good illusions. Otherwise can be avoided.
Just loved it. Whenever you visit do add this palace in your list. It is eye pleasing.. A treat to your eyes. You can also go for Maharana Fatehsingh Museum. The palace and the museum displays the top level of architectures, beautiful sculptures, mind blowing paintings. You can know about different history of different countries. Do visit. The fun fact is the royal family still resides in this palace on the top floor. And the ground floor is entirely dedicated for visitors.
If you love to observe paintings and sculptures, please visit this otherwise it is okay; nothing to miss
Maharaja fateh singh museum was building constructed as a school for the Maharajas children. Today a large number of works of art belonging to the Maratha Royal family are displayed in the museum. There is a collection of sculptures in marble and bronze. The museum has an oriental gallery which houses Japanese and Chinese sculptures and other works collected by the Maharaja on his visits to these countries.
It was really great experience to visit Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum.I like some paintings which was designed and painted by awesome artirst. That paintings was like 3D you can feel the flow and aura of the paintings. Also there was lots of gifts and memorial things which was gifted to King. From French / China / United Kingdom and other countries have already gifted them so many expensive gifts.
This place is historical amazing collection of artworks. One day is not enough to view the amazing collection of works.
Its 2 km from the main palace gate 2. Access can be improved better
Good they dont allow any camera and price is 150 inr... Bit expensive
Tickets very costly .Not worth paying such high cost for such small museum.
Overrated!I might think, Why the government aided museums need 150rs of entry fees for indians. And another side is baroda art gallery museum, which is bigger and greater and its only 10rs entry fee for indians.Very disappointed visiting this place, They showed free for children below 10years and when gone for ticket booking they charged 100rs for children from range 5-12.#frustratedindian
The building was constructed as a school for the Maharajas children. Today a large number of works of art belonging to the Maratha Royal family are displayed in the museum. The museum contains works of art collected by Maharaja Sir Sayajirao Gaekwad III during his numerous trips out of India. The major works of art in this museum are the paintings by European and Indian artists including a collection of the paintings of Raja Ravi Varma, who was specially commissioned by the then Maharaja of Baroda. The collection includes portraits of the Royal family in addition to the paintings based on Hindu mythology for which Raja Ravi Varma was famous. There is a collection of sculptures in marble and bronze. These include copies of great masters in bronze commissioned by the Maharaja and also originals by renowned artists. One of the artists commissioned by the Maharaja was an Italian artist Fellicci whose works adorn not only the Museum but also the Lakshmi Vilas Palace. Some of Fellicis works can be seen on the Public Park ( Sayaji Garden also known as Kamati Baug by the locals). The museum has an oriental gallery which houses Japanese and Chinese sculptures and other works collected by the Maharaja on his visits to these countries.
They wont let you take pictures of anything.. They will keep your phone outside.. nd youll not be allowed to touch anything inside. Also the ticket costs much more.. so if you dont like art & Craft and paintings much... Nd you just want to hang around and have fun this is not the ideal place for you. Also i got little disappointed coz they didnt let me take any picture for my Instagram. I they should allow the camera inside
This museum was part of the Lukshmi Vilas Palace - Home of the Gaekwads of Baroda Tour. The cost was included in the main ticket though you can choose individual ticket.I loved the place. It is at quiet corner of the palace property. Maintained by a nice staff has ample of artifacts and paintings. Some are replicas and some are original ones. Its a good place to indulge in art of 18 to 20th century art. Raja Ravivermas paintings should be the main attraction. The staff is polite and they will give you guides if you ask. They have small refreshment and souvenir counter as well. This place is surrounded by lots of trees have this surreal colonial era feel.It takes around an hour to see all the museum. Its not that big.
It had used to be school of royal family childrens.
Great place for students.good collection of king.i like some paiting which was awesome.like a 3d painting....The Maharaja Fatehsingh Museum in the Laxmi Vilas Palace compound has been awarded the Best Museum prize by the tourism department of Gujarat. The award was announced by the department some days ago and the museum was given a trophy and a certificate. Established in 1961, the museum is home to some of the exquisite sculptures and paintings.
It was good. But take out atleast 3-4 hrs time. And take the audio guide tour
Good but need some more antiques to showcase..it was more like art gallery, few war weapons were also there.A brief history along with would bring it a little more alive..
Nice place with good view
Peep into the life of erstwhile rulers during your visit to the Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum. The museum is located in the compound of Laxmi Vilas Palace, which was once the official residence of the Gaekwad family of Gujarat. The Museum is also known for exhibiting works by artists like Raphael, Titian, Murillo and Rembrandt. Another interesting section houses Chinese and Japanese porcelain artefacts, while two rooms on the ground floor are treasure troves of the Roccoco period in art.The Museum has recently inaugurated a headgear gallery where vibrant headgears from Gujarat, Rajasthan and Maharashtra collected by Maharaja Ranjitsinh Gaekwad are displayed.
Nothing much attractive according to the ticket price
Must visit once if you come to baroda!
Its a good museum with the various artistic paintings.. even the guide is good here .
Very well maintained museum. A myriad collection of artworks including marble statues, procelian and glass works.
Awesome paintings and statue, a memorable place in my life. Like to visit again to explore more
Must visit
Historical place. Armory, Paintings of Raja Ravi Varma, Huge landscapes were marvolous.
Awesome place for art lovers and visual artist.
Beautiful museum
Got bored..sorry..cant take phone inside..
The striking Laxmi Vilas Palace was constructed in 1890 and it has stuctural look of all four religion like Temple, Church, Gurudwara, Mosque and it took nearly twelve years to complete it. Sprawling across an area of about 700 acres, it has now golf course which is paid and can be used to play .
Amazing architecture. The artifacts inside the palace could be better displayed. The lighting on the paintings are very poor. Reflection from the ceiling light makes it an unpleasant experience to enjoy the painting. The audio guide is filled with interesting history and a great way to tour the palace. However the timing is a bit too fast and need to pause frequently.
If you are an art aficionado, you must include the Maharaja Fatehsingh Museum in your Vadodara itinerary. Located within the premises of the Lakshmi Vilas Palace, the museum is housed in a building that once served as the home-school for the Maharaja’s children. Today, you can find a treasure trove of art collections within the walls of this building. Major works of art by famous painters from Europe and India are displayed here, including a special collection of paintings of Raja Ravi Varma. The museum also has an impressive collection of flawless sculptures of Hindu gods and goddesses in bronze and marble.
The place visually is very attractive and gives a sense of royalty. There is a guide who explains you the detail and the backstory of all the paintings and statues. There are some specialities in some of the statues, like some are made of only one rock. Then there is furniture of China, and the paintings made by Raja Ravi Varma which look so real, some paintings that are double sided and some made by the English people. And then at least there were these detailed accessories of their time some of China, Japan and the Marathas like utensils, clothes and caps and pagdis. A must visit place overall 👍😀

Tremendous collection of various fields from art, science, folklore, dance, music, painting, sculpture, armour, etc. At least three hours one should spent to glance through the different sections. Its simply great store of collection of artifacts. Entrance fees is just Rs. 10/-.

Nice paintings mixture of Indian, Chinese and Japanese art
This place is great for a quick burger and a drink. I just went here 3 times in the last week and everything I ordered was brought out very quickly and was really good. The hamburger, chicken sandwich, onion rings, and french fries are all great. Its definitely good quality bar food, efficient, and has good service.
Unnecessary elaborated audio and limited artifacts.....expensive tickets not worth
Must visited place.
Nice collection of old and historical event
Great.
Absolutely loved the grand palace
Its not that interesting a museum. Many common things that we get to see at other museums as well. Only the 3D paintings were different and quite amazing. The fees charged are way too much for only a compact museum. The peacock outside is a plus point.
Must go!
Nice place to visit.
Highly recommend taking the audio tour
Heritage lovers will love it
