It’s an Ashram for Brahmchari only. Krishna temple is worth worshipping. Simple but nicely maintained Ashram. Museum is also fine. It’s good place to visit at Majuli. Very atmospheric and uplifting visit during which we saw the monks perform their prayers through dance, while playing on drums slung round their necks.Thank you . . . .
Another influential religious and cultural monastery of Majuli is Sri Sri Uttar Kamalabari Satra. This Satra is also located at the heart of Majuli, at a distance of one kilometer to the north-east of Kamalabari. This Satra is famous for performing art like Gayan bayan, Sutra Naas, Ankia Bhaona (dramas of Sankardev and Madhabdev). Numerous stage programmes have been performed by the Satra inside and outside of India. The most appealing dance form of the Satra is matiakhara. This Satra has been preserved different types of valuable antique like the rosary which is used by Shankardev and Madhavdev, footprints of Madhavdev on stones and the manuscript like the Nam Malika, Ratnawali ( a scripture written by Madhavdev), Dasam (a scripture written by Sankardev). In this Satra both the Satradhikar and the Bhakats (disciples) spend their life in celibacy. Sri Sri Janardandev Goswami is the present Satradhikar of the Satra. There resides approximate 115 bhakats (disciples) inside the Satra.

Kamalabari Satra is one of the oldest and most powerful satras in Majuli, a river island of Brahmaputra of Assam and is considered one of the most influential satras of Assam and unique religious institutional trend started by Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev, the father of neo - Vaishnavite movement in Assam. It was once displaced due to soil erosion and lost many manuscript of historical and cultural importance.
Must visit place. Peaceful
The most significant aspect here is cultural and historical concoction which is well descriptive with the presence of tribes like Misings, Doris and their celebration towards the culture of Neo-Vaishnavism is watch-worthy. The existence of more than 600 ‘Satras or monasteries set up in the 15th century to later times provides a colorful ambiance to Majuli and makes this a unique place to visit in Assam. These ‘Satras like Dakhinpat, Garamurh, Kamalabari, Auniati are famous for ‘Krishna Rasleela where local people trained in Sattriya Classical dance swirl with cymbals and drums.
