From this palace you can enjoy the view of the Udaipur city. This palace is the best place to visit during monsoons. In monsoon you can enjoy the greenery of this place. The king used this palace to spend time at this palace during monsoon weather so this place is known as Monsoon Palace. The view is really good and it’s little far away from the city and you have to purchase the ticket to get inside the palace because it’s a wildlife park.

Located on a Bansdara peak of Aravalli hill (3100 ft above sea level), Sajjangarh Palace is built with stunning white marble. As per the plan laid out by Maharana Sajjan Singh, the Palace was supposed to be nine stories, but due to the premature death of the King, the planned was shelved. However, it was later completed by Maharana Fateh Singh, his successor. The Royal family used the Sajjangarh Palace as a hunting lodge as well as to watch the monsoon clouds which brought the name of Monsoon Palace to the Sajjangarh Palace. The foundation of the Fort is laid on marble pillars which have exclusive motifs of flowers and leaves carved all over it. The palace walls are plastered with lime mortar. There is a vast central court with a stunning staircase and several quarters and rooms. The Fort has high turrets and guards monitoring each of the towers. The domes, fountains, and jharokhas all around the palaces are the exquisite marvels of Rajasthani architecture. The construction of the Monsoon Palace/ Sajjangarh Fort & Palace began under the command of Maharana Sajjan Singh. Maharana Sajjan Singh was an influential thinker, developer and a short-lived ruler of Mewar dynasty. Even though he ruled for ten years only (from 1874-1884), he made an extraordinary contribution in preserving and establishing the glory and culture of the Udaipur City. His civil works included construction of dams and roads, water supply and infrastructural developments.Under the reign of Maharana Sajjan Singh, in the 19th century, Udaipur has been crowned with the second municipality of India. In November 1881 on the occasion of Queen Victoria’s crowning, the Maharana was awarded the title “Grand Commander of the Star of India” by Lord Ripon.

The price of ticket when I visited here was 90 rupees for adults and 275 for your car.You have an option of taking your car inside or you can also opt for vehicles provided by the place. You park your car at the main gate parking, take the tickets and wait for the cart/vehicle to arrive which drives you all the way to the hilltop where palace is located.I suggest take your car because the waiting time is huge.Just next to the entrance is the Zoological park.you can visit that as well. The road leading to the palace is very inclined around 45-60 degrees so be very careful/vigilant while driving. Go slow. The palace however is a one time visit place. They have a museum type of small area where they have placed some paintings, sculptures, etc.You visit this place for the view. You can view the pichola lake, fatehsagar lake,City palace, jal Mahal etc from here. The view is breathtaking. Plan your visit around sunset time, that is something you should see. You can have your pre-wedding shoot, post wedding shoot here but the crowd is an issue and your photographer should be very skilled to capture perfect backgrounds. They also have a restaurant here, you can get tea, coffee and snacks but it is very expensive. Also, beware of monkeys.Dont carry your mobile/food items infront of them. they will snatch away. We saw an incident where the langoor took away a persons spectacles from his face and also scratched him near eyes. So beware of them. As soon as you see a langoor, keep everything you have in your pockets/bags and hold them tight. Some stupids were trying to click pictures with langoor, he hit them with his tail and ran. So dont attempt these stupid things as well.

The palace is under construction and totally in pathetic condition. There is no basic amenities like toilets, water. Entry fee is 70rs, 4 wheeler entry 220 rs. The Monsoon Palace, also known as the Sajjan Garh Palace, is a hilltop palatial residence in the city of Udaipur, Rajasthan in India, overlooking the Fateh Sagar Lake. It is named Sajjangarh after Maharana Sajjan Singh (1874–1884) of the Mewar Dynasty, who it was built for in 1884. The palace offers a panoramic view of the citys lakes, palaces and surrounding countryside. It was built chiefly to watch the monsoon clouds; hence, appropriately, it is popularly known as Monsoon Palace. It is said that the Maharana built it at the top of the hill to get a view of his ancestral home, Chittorgarh. Previously owned by the Mewar royal family, it is now under the control of the Forest Department of the Government of Rajasthan and has recently been opened to the public. The palace provides a beautiful view of the sunset.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]Its builder, Maharana Sajjan Singh, originally planned to make it a five-storey astronomical centre. The plan was cancelled with Maharana Sajjan Singhs premature death. It was then turned into a monsoon palace and hunting lodge.[8]High in the Aravalli Hills, just outside Udaipur, the Palace is illuminated in the evenings, giving a golden orange glow (see image in the infobox).[9] The palace was used in the 1983 James Bond film Octopussy as the residence of Kamal Khan, an exiled Afghan prince.
