It is located in Satkhira district on the southwestern border of Bangladesh. Kaliganj Thana was established in 1942 with 12 unions, 243 mouzas and 249 villages separated from Satkhira district. After the publication of the gazette notification on 21 September of that year, the activities of Kaliganj Upazila were officially started from 1983. Kaliganj upazila is situated between 23 ° 29 and 23 ° 42 north latitude and between 90 ° 59 and 91 ৫ 05 longitude. Debhata Upazila to the north, Shyamnagar Upazila to the south, West Bengal of India to the west and Asashuni Upazila to the east.
